Glendamax Report: "Oh why did I go SOLO"?

Gmax! I loved the video. I have a friend in Baltimore who could use some housewares. Maybe you can leave something to him too?

Great Video!!!:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: You crack me up!!! :rotfl: :lmao:
(I had DH over my shoulder asking who you were and what a Dis meet is and why would you get together with people you never "met"? :confused3 He doesn't get it!!!)

Can't wait for more video! (BTW...your voice sounded just fine to me! ;) )

(I had DH over my shoulder asking who you were and what a Dis meet is and why would you get together with people you never "met"? :confused3 He doesn't get it!!!)

I had friends who asked me this and I said i didn't know you when I met you and now 10 -20 years later we are still friends. :) I would like to do a Dismeet, I am sure they r fun.

GMax, if you are a Survivor fan there is a thread for it on the Community Board right now. Seems as though the majority of the ladies are James fans.

Thanks! You know I'm going over there and join in!

LOVE the video - too funny!
but glad you covered the important things: Old English Roses china, furniture & DVC points!:lmao:
See? I have my priorities in order!

Hi Glenda,
Loved your report last year and I was so happy to see that you are posting another great report!
Congrats on purchasing DVC!
BTW, I see lots of Old Country Roses discounted at Marshalls and TJMaxx!
I love TOT!!!!
Hope you're feeling better soon!
Thank you for reading the one last year, and comming by for this one! I'd better not go to TJ Maxx, or my house will look like an OCR flee market!

WOW you brave woman. We took Aviva on TOT before she turned 5 and we got off and she would not say a word to us about the ride...I was thinking what have we done she will need therapy for the rest of her life. But about 30 minutes later she sort of said she liked it. When we went back that May she asked to go on it.
 I'm calling child protective services!

Hopefully next time we can hang out longer... And Thank you for a wonderful TR ... hats off to you... makes me feel like I amthere again.... btw I am not doing a TR... I'll just send them this way... :goodvibes
Glad you're enjoying it! And thanks for sending people to this report.

She was so Lucky I decided to take a bath and wear cologne before going to the TOT Meet!! It must be your lucky day!!! :thumbsup2 :lmao:
:lmao:

BTW... since we are friends for life now... let's talk about your DVC points!!!:lmao:
I think since you made me ride TOT, you need to give ME some points!

Thanks! You know I'm going over there and join in!

See? I have my priorities in order!

hmmmm... :drinking: :faint:

Glenda, just now found your trip report and I am really enjoying it. I have always wondered what it would be like to take a solo trip, and the idea actually frightened me a little. Reading your trip report has taken that fear away. Looking forward to more updates. :)
Hey Tina! Thanks for comming over and responding! If you HAVE to go solo but are frightened, then just do 4 or 5 days, so you wont be there too long.

:yay: :dance3: Glenda I have read your trip report and I'm thinking I may have to go solo.
I'm so glad you had a more then a nice time. Your report is more than excellent.
I miss all of the DISers and think I need to get back on board. Maybe next year I'll be posting my own trip report. Soometime you say I'm not going back but this grows on you because it is so much fun. I'm so proud of how you carry the Lord with you where ever you go. That is so important beacuse He is suppose to be invited in all parts of our lives. That's what make everything go well.:) :)
MAH-MEEE!!!!!!! Thanks for reading my report! Glad you liked it! Hopefully next year, YOU will be in it! So glad I didn't do anything scandalous on my trip since you are able to find my reports! :lmao: (I guess what happends in Orlando doesn't really STAY in Orlando huh?)
And Ma don't worry, I really do take the Lord everywhere I go - I couldnt leave HIM if I tried!:thumbsup2

That video was too funny. Leaving the china to your mother...:rotfl:
You are a brave woman- there is no way I'm ever getting on TOT!
Thank you for calling me brave! See Antss, you DO owe me some DVC points!

Love the TR! Sorry you got sick! :(
Thanks Hedy! I'm still sick, but I think I'm comming to the end of it!

I absolutely LOVED your video! :lmao:
you did not have James Earl Jones voice....
Thank you! I sure felt like I did though!

Hey Glenda!
You are a riot! Loved the TOT video.. I laughed so hard I thought I would bust a gut! Looking forward to meeting you in December! :santa: :santa:
I'm glad you got a laugh from that - I sure wasnt at the time! I guess now I need to see about buying a plane ticket for Dec huh?

Oh, Glenda, what a wonderful TR! You're a sweetie (and brave to boot!) and it is easy to see why you met up with so many DISers. :thumbsup2

You sure make all of us who hesitate to do a solo rethink the possibility :)....although not sure it works if one tends to be the shy type. You've a wonderful warm outgoing personality so folks are drawn to you!!:goodvibes Larry was drawn right to you ~ even during breakfast!!

So sorry you were sick - how awful! What a trooper!

Looking forward to reading more:)
Thanks Becky! I didn't think I was that outgoing. My brother is waaaaay more outgoing than me. If he was at Disney, he would've ended up being friends with all the CMs and even some of the Imagineers! I think people here at home think I'm a bit shy compared to him!.

Subscribing! I'm really enjoying reading your report--and you have motivated me to add airborne and vitamins to my packing list  . . . Sorry you were sick at Disney but I'm impressed at how well you handled it.
Thank you! I tried to be a real trooper!

TOT! TOT! Yes, you did it!!! :thumbsup2 Good for you! You've overcome your fear! Now, next time, it won't be that bad!?:confused3 (yeah, right!) I get nervous every time we take the long trip to the elevator! :lmao: The video was just too funny! How cool it was to see all those "lime green" shirts together!! That must have been fun! :goodvibes
First, let me say, I cant see there being a "next time". Also, it was REALLY cool to see so many DISers in one place. I looked around was was like "Wow, all of these people are like me"!

1. Disneyjunkie and Gmax, you two may have just introduced beef into my marriage because you know I will be sitting in front of survivor drooling over James now. Darn that siggy! Yum.:cheer2: Going over to the community board to learn more now.
So sorry you got a glimpse of that man. Wait till you see him on the show. I didnt hear a word that man said

Hi Glenda,
Sorry that I didnt call you back yesterday. By the time I got off the phone with my mother and did some other things, I figured you had went to sleep. So, did you get any sleep with that bad cold?

Finally caught up again. I am so sorry you were not feeling well. It woud have been nice to have a chat........with Larry.

You went on TOT!!!!Way to go. I know that you said you were just going to stop by and say hi to everyone. Got to love peer pressure:rotfl2:

Great trip report :) Sounds like you had a ton of DIS-meets. The more reports I read the more I really wish our flight home on the 13th had been just a bit later. (like 3 or 4 days) It looks like everyone had fun.

Day One cont.
The Room!

After getting the room number - 5528, Fee and I head for the elevators. Wow, I'm actually a guest here, and not a Lurker! We walked down a long hallway, found the elevators, get off, and discover that we have to walk down another long hallway. Right away, I'm worried. How in the world am I going to do this at the end of a long park day? After what seems like miles, we find the room.

IMG_1504_3.jpg
IMG_1512_3.jpg
The room was a studio with a Savannah View. When we walked in the room, there was "towel art" on the bed! :goodvibes

IMG_1420.jpg
IMG_1421_3.jpg

Notice the hidden Mickeys on the bed spread. There were alot of them througout the prints in the room.

Below, I took a pic of the chair, because it's a REAL chair. You know how some hotel furniture looks real, but then you go to move it, and it's light as a feather? Well this chair was heavy!

IMG_1499_3.jpg

Check out the hidden Mickeys in the carpet!
IMG_1500_3.jpg

There's a flat screen TV, and DVD player in the room. I was REALLY glad about the DVD player, because most of the channels were Disney-related of course.
IMG_1438_2.jpg

Kitchenette . . .
IMG_1432.jpg
IMG_1439_2.jpg
Now here's the funny part. See how they've supplied dish detergent? Well, when I openned the cabinets, they had paper plates and bowls, and plastic flatware individually wrapped in plastic. They did have "real" cups though. I thought it was tacky.

Bathroom . . .

IMG_1427_3.jpg

The shower was nice. The curtain road bowed out, to give you extra room inside the show. You can see some of the hidden Mickey in blue.

Hey Glenda!!! I wish we would have met up too - our MGM day ended up running later then we had hoped, so I didnt make it to the ToT. :guilty:

BUt lemme tell you - Im so GLAD you posted these AK studio pics. Theres a store here, at Woodfield Mall - called Disney Dreams or something to that effect - basivcally its a DVC place. They have actual mock AK studios and one BR that you can walk through, and Ill be darned - they look EXACTLY like your pics. GORGEOUS!!! So cool!

Day 5 cont.
9/13

After leaving the UK, thinking that I'd been to all of the countries (sorry Canada, how could I forget my next door neighbor?!), I headed back over the bridge to the water shuttle. Now since I've never been over there before, I felt like Iwas tresspassing, and was looking around nervously for where to go. Then I happened to notice to my left, DISer "Susan was Here" and her friend! Whew! Apparently, they had spoken to me or waved and I didnt even see them! But believe me, I was glad to bump into them again. They told me where to go.

I hopped on the front row of the shuttle, ready for my first trip! The captain was a man, and he was training a woman. I was REALLY listening just in case I marry a RICH man, and can afford to do that as my full time job!

As the boat entered the area where the Swan and Dolphin, and Beach Resorts were, I wanted to yell and point, "OOOOOOOOHHHH LOOOOK"!! I was sooo excited! They look just like the pics. I'd never seen the Swan and Dolphin up close, and I didnt know that they were located by the Beach resorts.

The boat ride was very nice, and fortunantly, my stop was the last one........

MGM!

It was time for my first offical DISmeet at the Tower of Terror (TOT)! I was to meet everyone at the ride at 3pm. I got to the park a bit early. As I mentioned before, it was my intention to go back to my room after EPCOT to shower and change into one of my green shirts, but it didnt make sense since MGM was so close to the World Showcase.

When I got to MGM, it was HOT! So I decided to ride something I said I would never do again - The Great Movie Ride.

I really needed to get out of the heat and kill some time, so I headed in. As I walked in the lobby, I was pleased and surprised to see that they still had the Narnia Coats on display!

As I'm looking at the coats, I hear my name. I turned around and saw EpcotLove and her Fiance' (who's cute btw, but dont tell her I told you). We were so busy talking, they we ended up following a family with a wheelchair to the wrong line! :lmao: When we got to the line, her finace' said they're were 3 in the party. EpcotLove said that we were a family now. Awwww!

We chatted through the ride, and I showed her a hidden Mickey in the ride. It was nice riding with them, even though I didnt get my nap on the ride! :lmao: But really I couldnt if I wanted to. One of the speakers was right in front of us. ELove even tried to cover it with her hands. I just laughed. Hey, better to have a loud speaker, than to be in the HEAT!!!!

Afterwards, we parted ways, and I got my first Mickey Head ice cream of the trip! Then I walked through the stores while eating it, so I could be in the AC!

I got to the TOT around 2:45. I didnt see anyone by the sign, so I started to walk towards the cement benches outside of the ride's exit. That's when I spotted some DISers!!! My Lime Green Family! There were about 25 of us.

IMG_1602.jpg
IMG_1603.jpg

IMG_1601_2.jpg
IMG_1598_2.jpg

IMG_1594.jpg
IMG_1590.jpg

Now let me answer the question I KNOW you all are asking. Were these people weird? Did you regret meeting up with them? What was it like?
Here's the truth: Yes, alot of these people are different from my friends that I hang out with, BUT we all have one HUGE thing in common, DISNEY! So none of them seemed weird to me, and I felt completely comfortable being with them. I didnt come home and tell my "real-life" friends, "Some of those people were crazy, I cant believe I've been chatting with them all this time". It was really, really nice, and fun. So if you have a chance to do a DISmeet, especially at a ride, or restaurant, do it.

Now here's the DISer responsible for starting this . . .

IMG_1591.jpg

She's standing and smiling on the left with the hat on. Antss!
On the right of her is "Abby's Dad", one of the first faces who greeted me!

We sat around and talked a bit, and tried to figure out who was who. I even got a chance to meet the famous CROC!

IMG_1597_3.jpg

And Abby's Dad passed out some Poop! It was candy! So cute! Thank you! (and yes, I'm still saving the candy)

IMG_1600_3.jpg

Then the time came for all the riders to get on. They were so excited, and I wish I could be excited to, but I was a designated "stuff-holder". I rode TOT in '98 before they changed it. Then, it did 3 major drops. The only reason I got on, was because I saw a couple getting off who were in their mid 60s. As they were exiting, they looked normal - not shaky nor regretful. So I thought maybe it wasn't that bad. My Mother held my stuff, and I got on. Needless to say, if I hadn't accepted Jesus as my savior, and the only way to God, I had by the end of that ride. I was SOOOOO GLAD when it was over!!!!!

So as they are about to get on (and I wondering how many will end up getting Saved as a result), Antss starts passing out green buttons she made to all the riders. How cute. Then she looks at me. Why, I dont know. OH! But then I remembered that she made some for the stuff holders too. Abby's Dad had one, and now so would I. It would be nice to have a chance to chat with him while everyone's gone.

Antss looks at me and hold out 2 buttons: riders and non riders, and asks me which one do I want. Then everyone actually started to get quiet, like on that old EF Hutton commercial: "When EF Hutton talks, everyone listens". So I give my apologies and say how I've been on before but can't. Then people start to try to convince me: "Oh come on, it's not that bad, it's really smooth, it's not as bad as a rollar coaster, if you can do Everest, you can do this".

Next thing, I know, I black out. On my way out, I can hear ANtss saying "Which button Glenda? Which button Glenda"? Where is Abby's Dad? Help me!!!!!!

:faint:

:faint:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I needed that!

I'm sorry I'm just now catching up Glenda. I ended up in the emergency room friday night after returning home from Disney. There is a Coxsackie virus running amuk at disney so everyone please be careful. I'm on steroids for an autoimmune disease so it's easier for me to catch everything, but that may be why you got sick also. Didnt you have to take some medicine for your jaw? All my kids and mom went down sick also, but I ended up having to go to the ER. I'm just now feelling better and I see the doctor tommorrow. I wish I could have spent more time with you on this trip! My phone stinks and after complaining about it fervently, my dh has assured me I'm getting a new one! :thumbsup2 It didnt work most of the time I was there. And after travelling with family, a solo trip looks pretty good....;)

AND I DID RIDE TOT!!! I have a pic to prove it! I had a stupid moment, and then did it again! I figure I do know Jesus and you only live once!

Glendamax I am really enjoying your trip report and I just had to say that you are braver than I am. I haven't been back on TOT after my first ride and no amount of pressure is going to get me back on.

And exactly what is Seagull Poop?

The China you love caught my eye because I have a friend from Australia that collects the same pattern. You would be drooling if you saw her collection.

Gmax! I loved the video. I have a friend in Baltimore who could use some housewares. Maybe you can leave something to him too?
:lmao:

I had friends who asked me this and I said i didn't know you when I met you and now 10 -20 years later we are still friends. :) I would like to do a Dismeet, I am sure they r fun.
I try not to talk too much about the DISboards to my friends, because they think it's a bit weird, and that maybe I'm lonely or sad to talk to people online  I told someone that if I'm a real person, and I'm online, then aren't the people I'm chatting with REAL too?

You went on TOT!!!!Way to go. I know that you said you were just going to stop by and say hi to everyone. Got to love peer pressure:rotfl2:
I still can't believe I did it, but I'm glad I did. DISpressure is pretty strong!

Great trip report :) Sounds like you had a ton of DIS-meets. The more reports I read the more I really wish our flight home on the 13th had been just a bit later. (like 3 or 4 days) It looks like everyone had fun.
We did have a great time. Just try to meet up some people the next time you go! :goodvibes

Really enjoying your report. Hopefully one day our trips will overlap and we can meet.
Yes, that would be really great!

Hey Antss! I'm eating my veggies and taking my vitamins!

GORGEOUS!!! So cool!
WOW! So cool that it looked the same!

I have never heard of that virus before! So Sorry that all of you got sick too. I think I'm comming to the end of mine. I haven't taken any cold medicine in the last 14 hours or so, and I'm ok - just really tired.
As for my jaw, I just took 800mg Ibuprophren, and I was fine.
And congrats on TOT! I cant believe you did it too!

And exactly what is Seagull Poop?

The China you love caught my eye because I have a friend from Australia that collects the same pattern. You would be drooling if you saw her collection.
I forgot the story behind calling the Taffy "poop". If Abby's Dad is reading this, please explain!
Tell your friend with the china, to feel free to unload any extras on me!

Day 5 cont.
Thurs. Night 9/13

After riding TOT, and watching Beauty and the Beast, Antss told me that she and her sister could drop me off. WHAATT? Now understand that at this point, the excitement of riding TOT had worn off, and my throat felt as wide as a straw, and even in the heat, I felt as if I had a fever. So while sitting in the show, I was sad at the thought of having to ride the ARTIC bus back to my resort, AND the LONG walk back to my room. So as we are leaving the show, I ask again, "Did you say that you all can drop me off"? Anstss - "Yes". OH THANK GOD!

The ride back to the resort was nice. I really enjoyed talking to Antss and her sister - who has a really cool hair cut by the way, sorry I don't have a good pic of her. The two of them told me about getting a good deal on a rental, and getting around in Oralndo. They told me, "192 is your friend, and just read the signs". Sounds good to me! I may have to rent a car the next time!

It was really cool pulling up to the front of the resort. I felt very high and mighty! :snooty: HA! I realized that I hadn't had a real meal since breakfast, so I trek down to AKL's "food court".:headache: After my meal, which was not that good, I went back to the room to shower and change. Now this is what I LOVE about being onsite. Being able to clean up and take a BREAK!!!!

Sadly, I realized that this was my last night in Disney, so I started packing up some of my stuff, and gathering up all the trash. This was also my last chance to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at night, so I headed out. If I didn't want to do this, I would've stayed in the room.

On my way into MK, I ran into a few of the TOT crew! One of them said, "Hey you changed your shirt". I had on a green shirt. I told her "no, I changed my whole outfit, I had to start again from scratch"!

When I got in the park, I headed straight for Haunted Mansion since it had just openned that day. The line was LONG! There were no fast passes, no AP front of the line access. So I went back to Mickey's Philharmagic and sat in the 2nd row. It was really cool sitting up front, but I think I was more cross-eyed as a reslut. After I did some other stuff (I dont remember what), I headed back to Haunted Mansion.

Well the line was still long - 30mins - but I thought I'd bite the bullet and do it anyway. The line moved very quickly. The new things they added are very nice. One thing they changed - which I dont think telling you will ruin anything - they got rid of that big orange spider that did nothing but glowed in the dark. Something else is there. This time it didnt seem like there was any wasted space.

As the ride is nearing the graveyard scene, I was thinking, this would be the worse place to get stuck, I mean can you imagine riding through here and then the ride just st-

wait . . .

hold up . . .

no . . .

HUH?

Is this a new effect, or did my car really sto-

OH, WHEW! It's moving. I know the next time to NEVER think about how it would be if it ju-

CRAP!!!!!! IT STOPPED AGAIN!!!!!! I am by the part where the tracks from a horse and buggy are going up into the scene, and the casket has fallen out, and the ghosts are having tea.

We were stuck for about 15mins. In the dark. And I'm in the buggy ALONE. Great! Then after awhile, they stop the music. So it's still dark, but the ghosts are still moving around. So I made a few phone calls and even called my answering machine at home so I could have a laugh at home with the lights ON! Then after awhile, an announcement comes on that they are comming to get us out of the ride. Hmmm . . . Now I'm going to have to WALK through the grave yard. NICE! :sad2:

Finally they turn the lights ON! I try to take pics w/o the flash, because I cant see if any of the "ride" CMs are around, and dont want to get in trouble. The pics look like CRAP! So then, I try taking some video. It looks a bit better. I will take another look at what I recorded, and try to post it. It's really interesting how everything looks with the lights on! I'm thinking, "Oh gosh, this is going to be on youtube TOMORROW"!

As I'm walking through the ride, I realize that I didn't miss much. The next scene after the one I was stuck in, is the bride saying goodbye - the same one as before they refurbished it - then the hitch-hiking ghosts. It was weird seeing them in the car with the people. Even though the ride had stopped, they were still in there!

Upon exiting the ride, they gave us fast passes to use ONCE, anywhere, good till the end of the month. It was horrible walking past the people hoping to get into the ride. They looked soooo upset.

Next, I headed over to Thunder Mountain. IT WAS GREAT!!!!! TOTALLY AWESOME!!!! You HAVE to ride this at night!
IMG_1479_2.jpg

I then headed over to Pirates for one last ride. I loved it. At this point I'm starting to get sentimental. The trip I both looked forward to, and partly dreaded is over. This is my last time around. It was a good trip, and I survived!

As I'm heading out of Pirates, Specto is starting. I watched some of it in Frontier Land, making my way over to Tomorrow Land to ride the People Mover. This too, is better at night. When I get to Main Street, I see a throng of people like I have never seen before! It is shoulder-to-shoulder, please dont let anyone scream FIRE, type of crowd. I am in total AWE! :scared1: The crowd was THICK from the main hub by the castle to the train station! I now realize that I just need to try to get out of here.

It was really scary making my way through that crowd, after seeing no people all week. I finally made it out of there and back to the resort, for more packing!

Final Thoughts:
Even though I was sick the day, it was one of the most fun days of the trip: going to World Showcase, bumping into more DISers like Carol at my resort! - Hi Carol - the TOT DISer meet, and MK at night.

That evening I was trying to think of what I could've done differently so I wouldnt have gotten sick, but I couldnt think of anything. I guess sometimes it just gets you!

If I had to do this day over, I wouldn't change a thing. :goodvibes

Note: I will try to insert video of Haunted Mansion, and Spectro later.

Next: Last Day and Departure

Good Morning Glenda!! Were able to finially get rid of your cold?

Hi ET!! Hope you are feeling better.

I will be at Disney on Oct. 4th. I need to start drugging myself up now to keep from getting sick.
