Glendamax Report: "Oh why did I go SOLO"?

Day 5 cont.
Thurs. 9/13

After France, I was beat, but I'm almost to the UK! But first, I use the restroom. By now I KNOW I look like I've been chopping wood, and need to clean up a bit!

While looking in the mirror, someone says Hello to me. I believe it was DISer Tiggerbell. (If it wasnt, I'm sorry, I'm going off my foggy memory) We chatted for a minute before exiting back into the hot sun!

OHHHHH!!! WAIT!!!! I forgot to mention, that when the shuttle to EPCOT pulled up at AKL, we had to wait for a wheelchair to get off. As she was going pass me, I saw a Mickey on her chair, it was DCLfun! She told me that she joined DISboards years ago before it became as big as it is today. I was so glad I spotted her!

Now back to the UK . . .
When I came out of the restroom, I spotted the Fish and Chips place. After getting my food, I noticed that all the tables were filled. So I asked two women if I could join them. They were 2 teachers from New Jersey, who had a Jewish Holiday off. We chatted a bit, and almost RIGHT before they left, the teacher sitting closest to me, told me she was on DISboards. Her screen name (I think) is "Susan was here". I thought it was so funny that we talked that whole time, and this didnt come out till almost the end. She said that she's never posted a trip report. Hopefully she will this time!

After I finished eating, I looked in the UK shops. I regret that I forgot about Canada. I thought UK was the last country :(

While in the shops, (looking for Seal) I almost fell in the floor. I couldnt believe what I saw all in one section . . . .

Old Country Roses!!!

I knew that I couldn't buy it all. So I took these pics. Besides, my house already looks like an old Lady lives in it. I did by these though . . .

Bunny Salt and Pepper Shakers!

When I asked the clerk about buying them, she noticed my pin, and too warned me NOT to trade it. She told me they were special, and she was very surprised and happy that I'd gotten one. She even asked me how I got it!

While paying for my bunnies, DISer Lan called! I called her back after I exited the shop into the gardens. It was beautiful back there. I told her all about what happened so far. Then I made my way to the area where you can catch the water shuttle to the EPCOT resorts and MGM.

I really wanted to go back to the room to change, and take a break. But there was no time, I had a VERY important date . . . .:tiptoe:

:hourglass

Hey! I see some of you have respnded while I was writing! Thank you! I'll repsond tonight. . . .

OH!!!!! About the videos, do I cut and paste the link in the same box as the photos? The square yellow box? If so, I guess I'll try to put the video clips on photobucket tomorrow. Please let me know!

See ya tonight!!!!

I never use the yellow box to post photos/videos. I have always just pasted the code right into the main text.

Thanks for stopping by! I learned very quickly why people go solo! Who knows, maybe next year we'll see each other - that is, if I decide to face the heat of September again!

I've got a week booked right now for September. (I'm hoping to get free dining again). Maybe if I go solo, we can get together. I'd like to meet you. That is, if you get to go again!

I have been sick while on vacation to WDW, a couple of times, in fact. I feel your pain! But Boma certainly seemed to make up for it, in more ways than one! How come I never meet a hunky guy named Larry who would shower me with gifts? (Ok, gift. The pin counts as a gift.) ;) What a great moment!

And now, my favorite moment of Day 5:

Old Country Roses!!!

Bunny Salt and Pepper Shakers!

Oh yeah. The heavens parted, and a beam of sunlight shined on you as the angels started singing. Am I even close?

And I enjoyed your pics of Spaceship Earth without the wand.

Hey Glenda. I'm so glad we got to meet but so sorry you were sick. I would never have known from talking to you. I think we saw you Monday night at the Poly with your friend. I think you were taking pictures near the fountain in the lobby. We were hurrying out to make a dinner ADR but I told DH that I thought it was you.

We tried the School Bread for the first time this trip too. It was yummy.:goodvibes We also got lots of dole whips this trip. Cause you can get them in Captain Cook's at the Poly. We had one every night without having to wait in line. Yummy!

I started coming down with a cold the week before we left for the World. I started using Zicam gel as soon as my sore throat started and used it while we were in the World and I never got sick. Try it. It helps shorten how long it lasts and for me, keeps them from happening at all sometimes.

Hope you're feeling better today!

Subscribing!! Your report is very easy to read. It sounds like you had a great time!! The part where you were on the ground waiting for the bus and had to get on all fours before you could get up, had me laughing out loud!!! I have SO done that before!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Can't wait to read the rest!

I am like so upset that you didnt tell me about Larry when I talked to you. Okay start planning your trip for Feb 2008. You know Larry stays at AKL.:rotfl:

I've just got to know .... how do you manage to meet so many DISers???? Do you walk around in nothing but lime green? Are they all out there with LGMHs dangling from their baggalinis? Do you strike up conversations with everyone you meet and immediately ask them if they DIS? It seems like every time you turn around you've happened upon another DISer.

BTW, I'm enjoying the report so far! :thumbsup2 Sorry you weren't feeling well ... I'm hoping that your throat gets better before the end of the trip. :wizard:

Glendamax, I so wish I would have known that you were going to be in the World at the same time as the DH and I. We would have loved to have had you eat with us...or at least have met up with you.

You have me really curious about the mysterious man who gave you the pin...I wanna know who he was to have been known by name, and why that pin he gave you was so important.

Anyway, I can't wait to read more of your report...keep it coming!!

Glenda---I am so glad that I found your TR! I am sooo sorry to hear that you got sick! How fun to meet all those disers. I am looking forward to reading more.popcorn::

I was going to ask the same thing about how you met so many DISers.. but then I realized that you have a great pic of yourself in your signature! If I saw you, I'd probably go ask if it was really you!! But most of us on here are photographically anonymous... unless people have really been reading my TR and studying the pics of me, they probably wouldn't recognize me... just my theory!

Still enjoying the report! I love that you can go into the shops around WS and just browse!! I can't even do that when I'm on my adults only trips, because my DH won't do that! Party pooper..:sad2:

Glenda...I am really enjoying your "Tale of WDW Solo". :thumbsup2
What is it with people getting sick while at Disney??? I think this is the 3rd TR I've read where the person writing had all the same symptoms! (I think I'll bring Airborne and Lysol with me when I go!) I really don't want to catch it too. ;)

Glenda,

Just found your TR and I'm so glad that I did. Thanks for sharing your great adventure! I'm so sorry that you got sick at WDW.

I've considered a solo trip to WDW, but just can't bring myself to do it. Waiting patiently for the rest of your report.

Glenda,

I forgot to post this earlier but thanks for the shout out! I was mentioned in a trip report!  You made my day!:goodvibes :flower3:

Day 4
Wed. 9/12

Wednesday morning I woke up early, swallowed, and wanted to CRY! I felt BAD! I mean, stay home from school, and sit on my Mother's lap while she rocks me BAD! I wanted to cry :sad1: But this was supposed to be a major "Big Girl" day. The day that I was to have breakfast at a sit-down restaurant TOTALLY alone. What helped me to get out of bed, was that the reservation was at BOMA! Yes folks, the place I dream about all - year - long!

Oh....this almost made me cry :sad1:

Day 5
Thurs 9/13

He says that he was given a TinkerBell pin, and was given an extra one to give to someone special, so he chose me.
Here's me----->  :upsidedow :tilt:

Then I manage, "Oh thank you, no you're not interupting me". He goes on to tell me to NOT trade it, because it's not sold in the stores. He said that if I did wear it, CMs would notice it. (WOW) I thank him, and he sits back down. After he goes away, I could hear a bunch of you from the boards yelling at me: Get it together girl!!!! Talk to him!!!! Say Something!!!

Then he says how he's about to go to the airport to get back to New York, and that he'll be back in February. (Hmmmm can I come back in Feb.?) Then he comes over to me - his name is Larry - and says that he hopes that I enjoy the rest of my trip. I say thank you, and that I hope he has a safe trip home. Then he leaves. Yes. He left. :headache: That's the end of the story.

I kept thinking if I would've done something different if I were in my right mind. But no. There was nothing else I could do.

Bye Larry.

:woohoo: How exciting!!!!! Yes, you can go back in February!!!!!!!! GO GO!!!

Oh, I forgot, got kinda carried away!!:rolleyes1 I loved the jewelry you found in Mexico!

Day 5 cont.
Thurs. 9/13

Hi Glenda! You got my name right :) I was looking for your trip report. It's been great to read! :thumbsup2 A little while after meeting you, we also went and got the school bread! OMG it was amazing. Went back and got more on Friday too! Glad you had such a good time. Gave me a little push to maybe finally take a solo trip when I can't convince anyone to go with me. I look forward to reading more! It was great to meet you!

:) I wonder which DISer Glenda took a nap with on the great movie ride at MGM....... ;)

I'm going again in February, do want me to find Larry at Boma get the ball rolling for you??? :rolleyes1
Sure! Maybe if I see him again, my voice won't sound like James Earl Jones'.

Where did you get the cute pink Minnie and Mickey T?
Thanks to the DIS, I caught a sale at the Disney Store at the Mall! :cool1:

This TR's so many kinds of funny, I can't even begin to quote.
Hey V! Thank you! I guess Nyquil makes me fummier!

Giirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!
(and yes, my neck is rolling) You know mama is mad at you about Larry! I don't care if you had to call an interpreter, you know good and well you were suppose to get his number! I don't care if you had to write notes on a paper napkin to have a conversation with him that would lead to future conversations at the very least. He was FEELING YOU, he was at WDW all by himself and he plans on doing it again!!! He was handsome and showering you with gifts!!! Come on baby!

Mama is mad!!!

So what you need to do is find whomever he was talking to at Boma and ask them to give him a special pin to give to Larry (that you will bring on your next trip just for him) with a note of thanks that may just so happen to have your number on it.
Actually, I intended on asking someone at Boma who he was. But again, I felt really bad. If I were better, I think I would've done differently. AND what I left out was, he wasn't very tall. (now hold on everyone, dont go crazy!) IF he were super tall, I believe that I would've came out of my stuper, and got some info. OHHHHHHH!!!!!! And I did think, what if he's married! I never saw his hand.

That encounter in Boma is like something you see in a movie or read in a book. Maybe you are fated and will meet again at Boma on your next trip. You will spot each other across the room and instantly recognize each other. One of you will work up the courage to approach the other and everything will go from there.
I know! If this guy isnt married or gay, then maybe I'll get to see him again one day (cue music).

Hi Glenda! I remember when you were planning your trip and still debating about going solo. I was one of the ones encouraging you to do it. I'm sorry you got sick while you were there. My throat is soar just thinking about it (or maybe it is really getting sore and I need to start worrying... I think there is some OJ in the fridge).
Hey! Thanks for encouraging me to go!
You are sooooo funny, dont drink too much OJ!

I've got a week booked right now for September. (I'm hoping to get free dining again). Maybe if I go solo, we can get together. I'd like to meet you. That is, if you get to go again!
I'll will certainly post if I do go again in September. I was thinking about in October of next year though, so I could go to the food and wine festival, and maybe get some cooler temps.

And now, my favorite moment of Day 5:
Oh yeah. The heavens parted, and a beam of sunlight shined on you as the angels started singing. Am I even close?
I WISH I couldve seen the look on my own face when I saw that section! I couldnt believe it! There was a couple looking around there too. I think they were really confused when I started taking pictures! :lmao:

That WAS me! Ok, remember you saw me last year too and let me escape. Looks like I need to be on the look out for you!

I started coming down with a cold the week before we left for the World. I started using Zicam gel as soon as my sore throat started and used it while we were in the World and I never got sick. Try it. It helps shorten how long it lasts and for me, keeps them from happening at all sometimes.
Hope you're feeling better today!
I did use Zicam once. Looks like I need to buy some and have it with me on my next trip!

Subscribing!! Your report is very easy to read. It sounds like you had a great time!! The part where you were on the ground waiting for the bus and had to get on all fours before you could get up, had me laughing out loud!!! I have SO done that before!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
I started not to include that since I'm not 89 yrs old. But hey, I knew that it HAD to happen to someone else!

I am like so upset that you didnt tell me about Larry when I talked to you. Okay start planning your trip for Feb 2008. You know Larry stays at AKL.:rotfl:
I am so sorry I didnt tell you. But hey, at least it left something for you to be surprised about in my report! And yes, I guess I do need to consider going back in Feb!

Here's what I do: make sure my Mickey is in site of others on my bag, announce on the DIS when I'm going, and keep my pic in my siggie. Also, before the trip, I got my hair done similar to how it is in my siggie. So basically, if anyone saw me, they couldnt have any doubt it was me. OH, and no, I dont wear green everyday. This year, I think I wore it twice.

Man! I'm sorry I missed you. And I do wish I could rewind time and find out who he was too. They all seemed to know him and were saying goodbye to him by name.

Glenda---I am so glad that I found your TR! I am sooo sorry to hear that you got sick! How fun to meet all those disers. I am looking forward to reading more.popcorn::
Hey Daisy! Thanks for clicking on my report!

Still enjoying the report! I love that you can go into the shops around WS and just browse!! I can't even do that when I'm on my adults only trips, because my DH won't do that! Party pooper..:sad2:
Actually, this is the one thing I was looking forward to going solo. Some countries I stayed in a long time - the UK - others I did a drive by!

ok somehow i missed the Epcot post. :confused3 all caught up now.
