I agree with it not being comparable, but porn has ruined many relationships. I know 3 couples getting divorced, because the husbands are addicted to watching porn. One guy has destroyed his computer for his wife and he has to stay away from everything that has anything to do with porn. It still wasn't enough, they are still separated and both are in intensive therapy.

Oh I completely agree it can be destructive.

Porn didn't ruin their relationship. The "addict", their behavior and the relationship did. Accountability, a characteristic all need.

There has to be some accountability to the internet for allowing this garbage.

Charter, my Internet and tv provider told me what I am recording on my tv. I am sure if they looked at my internet. They could see my address and see what I am looking at too. Why, oh why is pornography allowed.

What he down loaded on his computer is so wrong-but this whole industry is wrong and it is not going away.

Any addiction is destructive. Alcohol, drugs, sex addiction, money break up way more relationships than porn, should we not allow them. It is the person not the porn. Personal responsibility please.

I am the kind of person who truly tries to see the good in everyone.

However, I cannot see any kind of punishment or treatment that would be appropriate for people who engage in child pornography. In this case, he saved the taxpayers some dollars, but I'm sure his fellow inmates would have made sure his life was very short once he was sentenced.

I don't believe there is a fix or an excuse for this, truly one of the most heinous of crimes.

Not debating, but really, that may be a reason, but he may have had such deep mental anguish, and felt so low to have been even remotely interested in such a perverse child porn. The dark cloud of depression is a deep hole to climb out of, and it is deplorable also that prisoners in our system is subject to sexual harassment, "being someone's wife." Why is that allowed, why are they not protected and a "given" now, just because they are amongst other male's that feel it is their right in jail. Our jurisdiction system is failing everyone.

Don't relegate to only men. Women's prisons are just as bad. Because guards are there to keep peace, not babysit. Don't want to be in that situation then don't put yourself in that situation. It's not allowed but short of having as many guards as prisoners what would you propose. Oh and Taxpayers would never pay for it. Give the prison system & unlimited budget maybe but taxpayers won't do that.

I don't know. As a parent, I've always believed I could love my DS "no matter what". If this was him, though...well, I just don't know.

Ok, I’m always preaching bring this nastiness into the light and then it cannot fester and grow, so here it goes. Im a survivor of being wayyyy more than molested from 3-9 at the hands of a 27 year old. I read a bunch of these stories about him committing suicide, how horrible it is(and suicide is a horrible thing in most cases) and how he was a quiet and gentle person. It makes me so sick to my stomach. He had pictures of TODDLERS! There is no excuse for that in my book. He took the cowards way out.....rage over, just my humble opinion

I don't think that's really a fair assessment of them. They may have raised him in the right conditions to foster it, they may not have. For all we know they're normal, upstanding people.

I absolutely think they could have been clueless. People can be very secretive and they might not have seen any signs.

No, they didn't have to have a clue. People hide things, especially something as terrible as what he did.

There was a teacher here who went away for similar crimes. I don't know him, but I know people who do. It was a complete shock to everyone, his parents included.

Unfortunately, this is a very private kind of crime - hence the reason so many get away with it for so long.
