Like others, I can't imagine dropping $1500 on a gift for him. Sure, we may budget it in, but not for Christmas. It would be it's own dedicated savings account, since I really don't think it's fair for everyone else for that to be coming out of the Christmas budget. Maybe for Christmas you could give him $500 towards it and a couple other small gifts?

If that's what he wants I say go for just that one thing. And yes that's a big ticket request- but if you can swing it why not make his wishes come true!
Has anyone else given a spouse only one thing for Christmas? QUOTE]
Yep and probably more shocking...I've even given him nothing!
Seriously, you're worried that a grown man wont think that a $1500 gift is enough?
Wow, I can't tell you the last time DH and I gave each other presents. And I couldn't imagine spending that much on DH either!!
Wow---since we've been married (14 years), DH and I have never exchanged gifts on holidays. In fact, this year DD (12) and DS (9) are only getting one thing for Christmas (and they each picked it out). Of course, we're also going to England this spring . . .
If you are able to get your DH the gift he really wants, I'd do it. There's nothing I hate more than getting a lot of small gifts when one large one would be much better.

Last Christmas I asked my husband for 1 gift and 1 gift only, a Macbook. We shopped around ahead of time so that we could have it before we had to spend a long 3 days at his mom's house. We got the basic one for $888 through MacConnection. Check other dealers besides Apple. Even with the govt discount, MacConnection was cheaper. On Christmas morning, my husband surprised me with other gifts still which were unnecessary but nice.
To those who think a Macbook is a waste over a Windows PC when we don't get the blue screen of death, nor when we don't have to worry about most of the viruses out there, it is so worth it.
Oh and if Apple comes out with the iPad with the camera before Christmas, I will be surprising my husband with one this year. If not, that will be his birthday present next May. He wants one but only after it has the camera so he can do the video chat with us when he travels for work. If no iPad this year, I'm getting him a GPS for hiking. I don't see why 1 big present is a big deal. We bought each other a large tv for our anniversary this year. We usually get each other 1 big gift each year.
