You could order the planning DVD and watch it with the kids. Or if you have Netflix they have the 6 DVD Disney Parks DVDs, and you could order/stream the Disneyland one!

Smart. That wouldn't be good if they opened them at different times. I'm going to do the personalized or favorite character gift cards.

Is this your first time to DL? We are also DVC members and go to DL at least once a year and WDW about every other year. My kids love going but they don't get as excited as they did the first couple of years of us going.

I think August might be a little to far out. I'm actually thinking more in the line of my 13 year old. He loves going but doesn't really start getting excited until a couple of weeks before we go.

I would play it simple and get gift cards ( I like the personalized cards idea). Maybe you could fold the maps into a gift card holder.

I am going to go against the group and say that I think this is not going to be as exciting as you think it will be. I thought maybe I was a bit off and asked DD14 and DS19, they both agreed with me.

Is the potential of this trip the only gift will receive from you this year?

My brother and I surprised my mom last year for her 50th... We got a huge box and loaded it with black red and yellow balloons so when she opened it they would fly up. Then we made a Build A Bear that we put in the box as well... We got one of the recordable voicebox things for it so when she hit the "CinderBear"'s paw it said "Pack your bags, we're going to Disneyland!" She was so stunned we had to explain to her that we were serious
