We leave for our trip in 3 days and I am trying to get everything packed and ready to go. I have a blow up bath that I was going to take but it is so big that I dont want to hassle with it. Lo isnt sitting up by himself fully yet so I'm not sure how to give him a bath without it.

How do you bathe your infant while traveling at hotel? TIA for all your help! :thumbsup2

When we traveled with little ones my husband would get in the shower, wash off, I'd hand him the baby, he'd wash her and hand her back. Our kids have had many, many more showers than baths. But if you're set on a bath, you can always fold a towel in half and put it in the tub to make it less slippery and then just keep ahold of the baby with one hand. Either way is a little tricky. They're slippery!

Will he/she fit in the sink? I also have seen the fold up baby tubs at Walmart. Don't know if they'll take up less space than the blow up one you have already, though. Or have one person hold baby in the tub or at the sink while the other washes?

I would get in with baby, give him/her a good scrubbing and pass off to Dad for the drying and diapering (or the other way around). We used to do that all the time here at home when time was short. Was really a great snuggle....

I have been bathing DD (7 months) in the tub since she was about 6 weeks. I just put about an inch of water (more now that she is bigger) in the tub and lay her flat. She LOVES to kick and splash!

I feel safer doing that then holding a baby while trying to navigate with soap as well! I will do it if there is only a shower stall.... but if I can I just find it easier to bathe them!

This is how we do it. It is the easiest way we have found whether traveling or at home.

I'd fold a bath towel in half and lay it in the bottom of the tub, then put just a couple of inches of water in the tub. Lay your baby on the towel and wash her. The towel will cushion her and you won't have to try to hold a wet slippery baby in the shower.

We still do this when we are running short on time. Our little one will never get out otherwise.

My DD was a couple months older than that our first trip but DH or I would hold her in the shower and the other would clean her. We brought those johnsons head to toe wipes--they dont make them anymore but huggies may still make something similar. they made it really easy.
have fun!

Thanks for all of your replies. With all of your ideas I think I am going to skip taking the blow up bath and just try one of your ideas when we get there. I dont know if he would be to big for the sink or not, but that would definitely be any easy solution.

I have tried showering with lo and I agree they sure do get slippery lol. I'm so relieved to know that I wont be taking that huge bath, now to figure out how to pack clothes for an infant

Our little monster is a roll machine otherwise I would for sure do this.

One of us would just take a bath with DS. So simple and easy. As he got older, when he would ask for one of us to go in there, if we felt uncomfy, we'd have a bathing suit bath (for the adult, not the one that needed to get all clean and sparkly).

DS hated solo baths, screamed and screamed in the sink (my mom had the cutest pictures of me and later my brother in the sink, but kids are different), and taking baths with him was just lovely. And you don't need any special equipment, not even a towel around the baby...just arms and cuddles.

(ok, waxing poetic about baby-baths...sigh)

I used the bathroom or kitchen sink. We usually stay in one of the villas, so a kitchen sink was available if the bathroom one was too small. Same thing as another poster mentioned. You could lay a towel in the sink to help hold the baby in place and use as a cushion.

Just wanted to say HAVE FUN! :dance3: Will you be doing a TR when you get back?

(PS we do all of the above mentioned things. Sink, shower with one adult, or even just a spoone bath!)

We usually sponged bathed until they were old enough to sit up. Or a towel in the bottom of the tub and about two inches of warm water.

My DS was also a "roller" and he never rolled in the tub...maybe he did once but he learned not to do it again! At home from about 4 months on I bathed him laying flat in an inch or two of water in the tub. At a hotel I would put a towel down first in the tub just because of not knowing how clean it was (obviously I felt much more comfortable with the cleanliness of my own home). From the time he could stand, he went in the shower with DH when travelling for a quick shower and rinse off. THen I would take him out to dry and dress while DH finished showering.

Another vote for one parent getting in the tub while the other is on standby to towel them off. We did this on our last trip. While one of us got DS dried and in pajamas, the one that had shared the tub would take their own quick shower.

And if you aren't comfortable doing that, you could try the towel in the tub with an inch of water. Baby might not roll and if he did get on his tummy he should have enough head control anyway with you sitting there to be okay.

Hope you have an incredible trip!

Thanks so much, we are very excited. I don't know if I will do a full TR or not but I do hope to write in some way about our experience with a 6 month old. There doesn't seem to be as much info available for low so young.
