Our original purchase was at the Poly. We still love it. However, my DH and one of my DDs have absolutely fallen in love with Wilderness Lodge. I am not sure if we would change our original home - maybe. However, I know we would have bought CC earlier.
I actually know that you are trying for CC because we have the same use year (I think) and have been watching your progress (which has mirrored ours) this summer. We are also in ROFR. Good luckNo. We bought SSR based on perceived value(numbers) and the belief that we could stay at other resorts at the 7 month mark.
I love CCV and am waiting on ROFR with a contract there right now. I should have bought there in the first place as it has always been the dream resort.
We will likely sell SSR and use the money to buy Riviera or Grand Floridian for the blue card benefits.
I'm glad you said you own CCV for the cabins...it's currently on my watch list and we have YET to stay in the cabins. We can only travel at super busy times bc of kids schedules, and can't ever book the cabins at the 7 month window. We own Poly points specifically for Bungalows, and yes while you usually can book at 7 months - it inevitably is gone for specific holidays (like July 4th) when we need to travel! We own at Aulani and VGF for the one bedrooms, and CCV for the cabins. We love them all! I also love Riviera, where I use some direct points to book at 7 months.
NO - I can honestly say that I learned more about DVC on these forums, AFTER our initial direct purchase.Would you still choose the same home resort if you could go back and do it all over again?
Us too!!Yes because BLT was the reason we bought into DVC.
When I first bought about a decade ago AKV resale was slightly higher & the MFs were higher & the advice then (often w/ spreadsheets/calculations) was that SSR was the smart value choice. I ignored that advice & opted to pay a bit more for AKV. As an 11 month booker going during high demand times SSR would not have worked as well for me & I bought intending to mostly stay at AKV.I don't have a problem with my SSR, it has served me well, but I wish I'd paid a little more for AKL. I think I could have actually used the club priority. When I bought, it wasn't the big price differential it is now, because AKL points have a lot going for them.
Now, I wouldn't pay the difference, but I should have then.
Now, AKL is so expensive, it's way more. SSR is a better value choice now, for sure. But back then, it was a closer call. I never planned to hold long, so the dues difference wouldn't have mattered much to me. And that 1BR club level would have, LOL.AKV resale was slightly higher & the MFs were higher & the advice then (often w/ spreadsheets/calculations) was that SSR was the smart value choice. I ignored that advice & opted to pay a bit more for AKV.
