Given What You Know Now

Yes. BCV, Poly and AKV originally with now BCV switched out for RIV.

Monorail resort, Epcot resort, Value/Concierge Resort. Great mix.

Our original purchase was at the Poly. We still love it. However, my DH and one of my DDs have absolutely fallen in love with Wilderness Lodge. I am not sure if we would change our original home - maybe. However, I know we would have bought CC earlier.

Yes, I would have the same resorts of Poly, CCV, and BLT, but I would have bought in earlier and bought Grand Californian also, maybe in place of BLT.

Additionally, I would probably choose a different use year. I have October, which is not ideal for summer travel although I do take trips at various parts of the year. However, as a teacher, summer is my most flexible time to travel if I have to reschedule in the last third of my use year.

No regrets at all with resale SSR (before loss of perks). We have stayed in every DVC resort now with these points.

I don't regret owning PVB. My family loves it and it means a lot to us. However, I do regret owning RIV only because of the point chart, the resort itself is beautiful.

If I was doing it all over again today, I'd probably buy into GFV direct (because my family prefers having 2 actual beds) and pick up another 150 points or so at Boardwalk (maybe Beach Club) resale.

No. We bought SSR based on perceived value(numbers) and the belief that we could stay at other resorts at the 7 month mark.

I love CCV and am waiting on ROFR with a contract there right now. I should have bought there in the first place as it has always been the dream resort.

We will likely sell SSR and use the money to buy Riviera or Grand Floridian for the blue card benefits.
I actually know that you are trying for CC because we have the same use year (I think) and have been watching your progress (which has mirrored ours) this summer. We are also in ROFR. Good luck🤞🏻

I think our “second” resort would have been at BCV instead of buying more points at our first resort. At the time, 25 years seemed like a long time. Now, with 20, I struggle with buying at BCV. We finally just purchased a second resort at CCV but now that I realize we either want studios or 1 BRs that sleep five, it was maybe not the best choice. I also hate that I can’t add on with under 50 points at CCV. I could add 25 points in 10 minutes at VGF but not at CCV.

I would definitely choose a different home resort. Originally we bought AKV. We would buy BLT or Poly.

We own at Aulani and VGF for the one bedrooms, and CCV for the cabins. We love them all! I also love Riviera, where I use some direct points to book at 7 months.
I'm glad you said you own CCV for the cabins...it's currently on my watch list and we have YET to stay in the cabins. We can only travel at super busy times bc of kids schedules, and can't ever book the cabins at the 7 month window. We own Poly points specifically for Bungalows, and yes while you usually can book at 7 months - it inevitably is gone for specific holidays (like July 4th) when we need to travel!

We originally bought into VGC and AKL and no regrets!

My first resort was AKV & I’m quite satisfied w/ it, we prefer Jambo & go during high demand times, thus we need to own where we want to stay. My second resort was VGF which I love staying at & I really like the comparatively ‘cheap’ MFs :).

I don't have a problem with my SSR, it has served me well, but I wish I'd paid a little more for AKL. I think I could have actually used the club priority. When I bought, it wasn't the big price differential it is now, because AKL points have a lot going for them.

Now, I wouldn't pay the difference, but I should have then.

Would you still choose the same home resort if you could go back and do it all over again?
NO - I can honestly say that I learned more about DVC on these forums, AFTER our initial direct purchase.
No major regrets, BUT - I would have bought MORE points, and I would have bought some BCV instead of all SSR!

Yes because BLT was the reason we bought into DVC.
Us too!! 🤩

One of the reasons we chose it was bc of a beautiful condo in Estero Island we were able to share with my family. One side of it overlooked the Gulf, and the other overlooked the Bay. 😌 We spent so many wonderful winters there, and some of our very best family memories are in that place. 😍 The shape of BLT, and overlooking the lake is very reminiscent of our condo… and being walkable to Main St USA doesn’t hurt either 😉😆

It is the only place with a double “welcome home” feeling for us ❤️

When I first bought about a decade ago AKV resale was slightly higher & the MFs were higher & the advice then (often w/ spreadsheets/calculations) was that SSR was the smart value choice. I ignored that advice & opted to pay a bit more for AKV. As an 11 month booker going during high demand times SSR would not have worked as well for me & I bought intending to mostly stay at AKV.
SSR works very well for more flexible travelers who enjoy hunting for stays in more ‘expensive’ resorts w/ those value SSR points IMO.

Now, AKL is so expensive, it's way more. SSR is a better value choice now, for sure. But back then, it was a closer call. I never planned to hold long, so the dues difference wouldn't have mattered much to me. And that 1BR club level would have, LOL.

No regrets here. AKV is an amazing resort with excellent restaurant choices and overall theming. CCV is our second and love it as well.

Yes, I chose BLT when Disney was selling. If I had to do it all over I would still buy there, but I would buy more points than I did while I could get them cheap.

Bought at Copper Creek, still happy I did. It's not the best location, but the other benefits and design far outweigh that issue.

Yes. I actually think about this a lot, that the stars aligned to put us where we belonged at CCV. Our guide tried to sway us toward Poly, but we were firm. My husband had always talked about how much he loved WL so he wasn’t hard to sway after a cash stay and we happened to have the cash on hand, it just worked out. We’ve already added on once and would like to again, depending on what the economy does.

Yes! We mostly own CCV, and also have a small HHI contact for beach time. They are the perfect home resorts for us. We will occasionally try another WDW property, but are always happy to be home at CCV.
