We are sitting here on the back porch enjoying a starbucks:surfweb: , DH is reading the paper and watching a rerun of the gator/USM football game. The kids (all 4) are gone until tomorrow night. We live 3 1/2 hours from Disney and as you guys know, we will be camping at FW for a week 4th of July. Sitting out here is beautiful and reminds me of the peacefullness of the campground early in the mornings. I guess its the excitement and planning of our upcoming trip combined with meeting new friends last night that love Disney as much as I do (but have never camped at FW-so I felt a duty to show them everything I could until the wee hours of the morning:rolleyes1 ) , but I have this overwhelming desire to road trip to Disney today. After all, we do have year passes.

My responsible side says, you can wait 5 more weeks until you leave for July. My irresponsbile side says, let's go honey!!!

My name is ldubberly and I am a Disney addict.

We were on our way to dinner Friday night(last day of school) and DH said we could be at the Fort by 2am:hippie: .

I am hoping that by the time you read this, you will be back on the board to tell us about your fabulous daytrip to WDW!

I know what you mean i went last year camping a couple weeks after shoulder surgery and took my pop up...:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: The place is .........well you know all :wizard: yea thats it magical....Get in your car and go!!!!!!!!!I blamed it on the drugs my wife said i just needed help.

Well, we didn't go.DH took me for a long walk on the beach :beach: and verbally:hyper2: helped me plan our July trip instead. I believe if the gas prices weren't so high, we would have gone.

Thank you for all of your support though.

I think today we will air out the popup so i can feel like we are getting ready to leave.:goodvibes

Happy Memorial Day to you all, especially those that have served, known someone who has served, and of course, lost someone who has served.:grouphug:

I grew up going to Disney Land just about every year and then moved to Louisiana 15 yrs. ago. Havent been since. My family is going to WDW in 13 days and I have yet to fully explain to DH{who has never been} the magic of being at a Disney park and he thinks I am borderline nuts the way I am getting excited and getting my 3 DD's ready to go!!! If I lived closer we would have been much much sooner!!!!!!!!!

Sooooooooooo.....I guess this trip will undoubtedly unleash the Disney Addict in me!!!! Yeah!!!:wizard:  pirate: ::MinnieMo pluto: :tinker: :tink: :smickey: :earsboy:

So, I am guessing you will be taking them camping. You and your family will absolutely love it. One of my biggest joys in life is going with kids and/or adults to WDW for their first time. Seeing the excitement in their faces makes it all that more enjoyable for me.

It really is a magical place.:wizard:

Yes!!! Camping all the way! I grew up camping and it turned out to be the most economical way to go! My parents weren't able to have us lodge on Disney property, so that was a must for me! I am excited about being at Fort Wilderness. I keep telling DH that we will want to return again in a year!!!:wizard:

You will definitely want to return. Be sure to take some time to smell the roses, WDW is so much more than just the theme parks.

WE have been going since 1971. Have had annual passes for several of those years, and will soon be renewing those. I know how you feel, we sometimes make the trip just to have a cup of coffee, and walk around looking at the same things we have looked at hundreds of times already(literaly). Luckly, we live in orlando and it only takes about 45 minutes to det there. WE to are total Disney addicts. I ahve even worked there twice in the past, and upon retirement, may go back.

Only 3 1/2 hours away??? Man, we'd be there waay more often if that is all we were. Shoot sometimes (and we are 12 hours away), if we know we have nothing planned that weekend, about 1pm Friday, both me and hubby are both calling each other "We could be in Macon by midnite, then WDW by 1pm Saturday" About twice a year we actually act on those impulses :-)" Hubby doesn't actually have an active annual pass at the moment, so the impulses have slowed a bit.

Hi neighbor! Where in LA do you live? We're in the New Orleans area. Does your husband like camping? Is it just WDW that he has never done before? It took my hisband a while to be bitten by the Disney Bug and I credit FW with providing the bite.:) We had gone to WDW in 1985 and he had considered that a "Once in a Lifetime" trip. He really had no plans on ever going back. We had stayed at the Poly and had a great time but he saw no reason to do it again. Then, in 1997, we rented a motohome and stayed in FW for 6 days. I only talked him into this trip because a friend of ours was celebrating her 50th birthday at WDW. He enjoyed it but figured maybe we would go back in a few years. I had other ideas! By this time I had gotten hooked on all things Disney on the internet and saw how often everyone goes back and that struck a chord with me. I couldn't see a life without a regular WDW fix in my future. Mike was content to let me go by myself or with friends, just as long as he didn't have to go too. By this time, I was on the planning committee for the Annual RADP Meet, so of course I HAD to go every year. :cloud9:

Fast forward to our next stay in FW in 2000. We had bought a popup and stayed for 9 days. This was his awakening! That first stay at FW, we didn't spend any time in the campground.....we just slept there and spent all of our time in the Parks. But this trip, we had slowed down our touring style and did a lot of rose smelling. He fell in love with FW and ever since then we have gone every December. He looks forward to our trips as much as I do now! The only downside of this is that I don't get to go on any solo trips anymore. He insists on coming too....hehe. We became DVC members only after you could use your points at FW. We will stay at other resorts (we had a trip to OKW about a month ago) but FW will always be our home and our favorite. There's just nothing like it!

I would have been on the road too. "Hey sweetie, lets go to the store." Then three hours later you can just say, "I meant the emporium." :thumbsup2

I Would Love To Be There Everyday. We Are Even Going To Move To Florida Next Year. Now If I Only Knew The Best Place In Florida To Move To.

Oh MY GOODNESS, Carol!! I love it!! ::yes:: This is what I'm talking about (or at least try and talk DH into :rolleyes2 ). We recently moved to South Carolina. We are now just about 9 hours from WDW! Easily doable in a weekend doncha' think?? ;) But my DH is soooo NOT spontaneous. If you don't mind my asking, what time do you leave on Friday? And do you take off Monday from work or do you leave on Sunday for work on Monday? See, I figure if we left when DH got off work and we were on the road by say 4pm we could be at WDW by 1am. Then we'd have all day Saturday and part of the day Sunday. We could leave by say 2 or 3pm Sunday and be home by 12midnight for work on Monday. :thumbsup2 Works for me!
