give me an idea for a purse

ok let me start by saying I NEVER carry a purse. I'm not sure how long its been since I carried one- probably 10 yrs or so. I carried a backpack diaper bag for each of my kids - LOVED them....

Soo...I'm thinking I should get some style of backpack purse....but is there a brand thats "in style" not that it costs a fortune - but so that I don't look like weird (you know like a tourist with a fanny pack )

Any brands you know to look for?

I don't know much about backpack-style purses, but have you considered a cross-body type purse? I discovered a brand called Kipling that I really like. They have several cross-body styles in many different sizes. When it was time to get my DD a purse, she told me she wanted one of these because she liked them so much. They seem to be pricey on their website, but I always buy mine at the outlet store near us. The last one I got from them was only $15 !

I think all backpack purses look touristy. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but if it's a look you are trying to avoid maybe the backpack purse not for you. Anyway, I like lesportsac. They are kind of pricey but very durable and easy to clean - and imo, very cute.

I say go with a messenger bag. They're also called cross-body bags. Vera Bradley makes one called the 'hipster', and although it's a little pricey, they're also very durable and hold lots of stuff.

Thanks for the replies. I once came across a sling style bag that was like $160, ir was at some store about 1 hour from here - of course I don't have a clue what the name of the maker was - much less the name of the store!

Oh yea - when I carried the backpack I didn't put it on both shoulders or anything (unless I was @ WDW) I just carried it on 1 my left shoulder like a purse.

I only carry shoulder bags or cross-body bags. If you get one that has a long enough strap, you don't even know it's there.

Personally, I love Fossil purses! Also Stone Mountain is a great brand as well. You can find them at Outlet Malls for reasonable prices. Oh, and if you have a Wilson's Leather, they always have good deals on leather shoulder bags.

If you want to go a little cheaper, try Relic purses -- they are a division of Fossil and I think I've seen them at Target. Definitely at Fossil Outlet store.
