Yes - you can do it! We just had a lady from Project Linus come to our Brownie meeting today. She was able to get 16 1st-3rd graders to make 10 blankets! Even my almost 5 year old DS was able to learn how to do it. As long as you can tie a know you can make a fleece blanket. Go tot he Project Linus website and they have directions on there I think.

My daughter loves making the fleece blankets, and we are also interested in the Give a day, get a Disney day promotion for our Nov trip.

You need to go to the Disney GAD site..just type in disneyparks.com. You can sign up there by putting in a zip code. I ahve also heard some opportunities come up if you type in Disney Wolrd Florida..but I must have done it wrong. Then you have to contact the organization and they give you a link to officially sign up with them. When you are done you get a voucher which you can use for a free day, or if you already have a ticket you get fast pass or a figurine or you can give it away to an organization to let a child in.

We had to mail them to Illinois, so no, not locally.

There is only one PL in my area and they want 6,(yes six) 50 X 70 inch blankets.
The person also writes "I am very busy so I can't promise that you will get your voucher for the free ticket before the end of the offer. Please understand that your giving the blanket should be enough of a gift"
Sounds almost like she is telling you right away that you won't get the voucher so buck up and do the work for free. one 50"X70" would cost alot, six would cost more than a free ticket.
Wonder who she is giving those vouchers to since she is almost guaranteeing that you are not going to get one.

Contact the Macon, GA chapter. They were very quick in answering my email and very grateful for 2 blankets. I think asking 6 of someone is a little much.

Not Project Linus, but if you search my zip code 62704, there is an opportunity to host a family game night to benefit a child abuse prevention agency called the Parent Place. It would be a good volunteer opportunity for the whole family (especially if, like me, you are not sewing gifted) and I don't see why it could not be done by people who don't live in Central Illinois.

My 13 year old son spent six weeks in the hospital and received a blanket from Project Linus. The nurse said that it was the only one left in the bigger size with "boy" colors.

Understandably, most people want to make baby blankets with bunnies and duckies. But that blanket brought so much comfort to my son and to me during his hospital stay. It's one of my most treasured possessions now.

It touches my heart that someone made that blanket for him... a total stranger... just to be kind. We have paid it forward by making teen boy blankets for Project Linus.

Starting tomorrow, Hancock fabric will have Northern light fleece 58/60 wide for $2.99 a yard.

I use this and then embroider a disney design on the corner of each blanket.

I just checked our local chapter and they are FULL for the Disney promotion! Luckily there is another nearby chapter that seems to have availability including a Make a Blanket Day that is unfortunately the same day as an important swim meet for my DD. *sigh*

How do you make the fleece no sew blankets?

If you go to the GAD website and put in either walt disney world, fl or disneyland, ca, the national chapter for Project Linus comes up. I did it yesterday and got an email back almost immediately, with information on how to register and once I did that, I got another email with the specific directions as well as how to make the blankets; one per person and you have to do it within 60 days and include pictures when you mail them.

Our local chapter here in san antonio, tx requires 2 60x55 fleece blankets per person volunteering.
i am almost finished. my 6 year old's blankie is not 100% perfect in fringe tying so i hope it will be okay and accepted.
we turn them in friday afternoon in person.

we found great material at walmart for $2.99-$4.99/yd.

we chose the project because my 6 year old received MANY during her stay in the hospital. we still have them and treasure them dearly.

Whenever we do any kind of charity project I always aim for teenage/preteen boys. I made a colts one.
