Cinderella’s on dining plan - when are credits deducted?

If i make an adr at the 60 day mark using the dining plan credits for Cinderella’s but later decide to cancel the dining reservation before the trip those credits are automatically added back to my total credit bank correct?
I mean the credits dont automatically get deducted from your credit pool until you actually eat or fail to show up for the reservation, correct?

Correct. They deduct them when you pay for your bill at the end.

When we did CRT last time and had the DDP, I’m almost positive I had to pay in full at the time of booking. Once we visited and changed our bill to use 2 dining credits each, the amount charged was refunded to my cc within 2 weeks.
