Is there a phone number to call if you have an issue with the Give a Day promotion? By issue, I mean that we showed up for our volunteer opportunity last night and were turned away (rather rudely, I might add).
We got a confirmation from Hand on Network when we signed up for the event. Then more recently, we got a reminder email that included the time, date, event, coordinator, and our names. It said if we had questions to call a the event coordinator (which I did call, for directions).
We showed up at the hospital last night (it was an allergy workshop) and when I said we were there to volunteer, the woman gave me quite a surprised look. She was not very polite (...well, that's an understatement). She first asked "Well, who are you???" I told her, and she of course didn't check a list or anything. I told her we signed up through Hand on Network through Disney, and got a confirmation email. She came over to me and proceeded to tell me that the program had ended and that we needed to sign before, and that she needed to get our names from Hands On and she would have contacted us.
I asked her if she wanted to see the confirmation email that I had with me. She said yes, but when I tried to show her the email, wouldn't look at it (literally put her hands up in the air like "not touching that" and shook her head). She refused to read the email, and refused to check a list to see if our names were on it. I kept saying that we had signed up, had gotten a confirmation, etc. and she kept telling me that the program had ended, etc.
Finally, she looked at me and paused then said, in quite a rude, childish way "Do you understand what I'm saying??? It's over, you didn't sign up." In my stubborness I responded "I understand perfectly" (with a nice smile
). Then I added that you really don't need to talk to me that way...she responded by walking away, and yelling across the room (in front of all the other volunteers) that "YOU don't need to talk to ME that way!" I admit I was very frustrated...but I wasn't yelling, I was only frustrated that she wouldn't even look at the email, or check a list, or anything!!! She had no answers other than to immediately start telling me that the program was over and that we obviously didn't sign up.
In the car, my husband made the point that "how would 3 adults know to show up at a hospital at 6:00 pm, on the 6th floor, on a Thursday, and say they were there to volunteer if they didn't sign up for it???" I have to agree.
My husband is calling Hands On Network as we speak, but we were wondering if there is a number to contact the Disney representatives for this program? We would just like to talk to someone about the experience that we had (or unfortunately, didn't have).
