We're packing boxes and writing notes of appreciationfor Give2The Troops.

I couldn't find what I was looking for at first....

There are more options hiding

Try this... search by zip as you did before.... THEN scrolling all the way to the bottom of the page. Below the list of volunteer opportunities there's a blue banner with a link for more opportunities.

It says:
"Not finding enough opportunities? Try broadening your search. Select ALL interest areas.

Click here for information for HandsOn Network partner organizations you can contact that will have additional qualifying opportunities"

I clicked and I found many more of the organizations in our town. I think if the volunteer group didn't put in a specific activity or date they are only listed here.

They will also be posting more opportunities as only the ones in the next 60 days can be posted on the main list right now.

I tried that. It brought up one more group-still an hour away. I emailed them-hoping for something I can do at my home and mail in or drop off.

The closest volunteer opportunity for me would be 45 miles away..I'm disappointed. My intention was to donate the ticket/s since we have
APs.

The one we signed up for is 55 miles away, but we dont mind (we _might_ be donating ours too...travel plans still iffy...) If we can get a time scheduled we will be petting/grooming/playing with baby horses!! (To help socialize orphaned foals....)

Some folks put in a zip for a small town and found "at home" opportunities making blankets, then you send them in to the organizations headquarters.

The closest I could find in my area is over 100 miles away!
I could drive a bit farther and include a weekend in Las Vegas!

I'll keep looking for something nearby.

Does anyone here know how long the passes are good for, are they only for 2010????

They are good until 12/15/2010 and have some blackout dates depending on where you are going WDW or DisneyLand.

I believe they are only good for 2010. I think they are also blocked out for Easter week, 4th of July and the last two weeks of December - not sure what those exact dates are.

There was so much to choose from in my area. There was a lot of making up bags go goodies for Valentines day and the like. But I wanted my kids to have the experience. So we are making sack suppers and going downtown and handing them out. Its on a Thursday night which everyone has free right now so I am thinking we will keep on after we fulfill our commitment.
