Okay...I need all the creative Divas out there to help me.

What is a fabulously unique inexpensive costume idea? My work is having a costume contest and the winner in each department wins a Target gift card!!! I love Target so I'm going to try and win. And since I only have 7 people in my department, the odds are good :thumbsup2.

Okay put your thinking caps on and give me some suggestions please :flower3:.
So if I suggest something and it wins you the Target gift card, do I get something? I'd settle for their popcorn and soda combo from the snack shop. ;)

Have you seen The Birds, by Alfred Hitchcock?
Check out this costume:

You can wear some old clothing, get some fake blood (cheap at Walmart and Target), and then those birds are at Walmart and Michaels for a couple bucks each. I think that's awesome and unique! It won her a contest.

Katie, what about a bubble bath costume? Dress all in white. Get some white balloons, a cute shower cap, a back scrubber, some bath products, etc from the dollar store. And voila!
Check out these ideas on how to put it all together:

Or you could be a picnic table. Also unique, and cheap. Go to the dollar store and get a red checkered table cloth, and some of those kid play food items. Easy, peasy! And Laila could play with the pretend food afterward.

This lady only spent 7 bucks on her "bad yearbook photo" costume.

More ideas:
A Highway: Wear all black sweat suit, stick on white or yellow tape on your legs and chest to resemble lines in a road. Attach tiny cars and road signs onto your pants and shirt.

Nudist on Strike: Wear normal clothes and wear a sign around your neck that says "Nudist on Strike."

Grim Reaper on Vacation: Buy or make a Grim Reaper outfit, but then wear a lei or flowered necklace, a camera around your neck, Bermuda shorts, paint your nose white (like lifeguards) and carry around some postcards or a map.

Thanks so much for the suggestion Beth!!!

I think I'll skip the bubble bath and Jelly Bellies since I'm not sure how the balloons will work while sitting at my desk LOL!! They're really cute though and I may use the Jelly Belly one in the future!!

And if I win, I'll get you a popcorn and drink at Disneyland ;).....oh wait, Halloween is after your trip! Well I'll get you one anyways :).

Good luck, Katie. If I think of anything else I'll let you know. Well, if I think of anything else appropriate for a work environment. I have a few other ideas, but they aren't really job site-friendly. ;)

I call it Headache music, loud with a boom boom beat.:rotfl:

That's my impression as well. Too loud, too crowded, and the overpowering scent of too many perfumes/colognes/body sprays. LOL

eta: why do I feel the sudden need to go and yell at some kids to GET OFF MY LAWN or something? *snort*

Btw - I loved the music to ElecTRONica when I heard it last year on the way out of the park. It just makes me want to dance. :cool1:

It's not bad from ACROSS the park, but it's too much up close for me. LOL

My former next door neighbor grew his toenails long and filed them to a point. His reason was "You never know when you're going to have to fight barefoot"

That's actually funny. Weird, but funny.

Thanks for posting all those ideas. My husband will love the "Nudist on Strike" idea. Normally he wears a baseball cap that says "This IS my costume".....

You could easily put together a costume as Alan from "The Hangover". Simple, easy, inexpensive, hilarious! :thumbsup2

It would be more authentic with tight white jeans though. LOL!

:lmao:

I actually liked the music, and had fun watching everyone dance. I'm just pretty sure you can't be a day over 21 to hang out in that area for very long. lol I felt like a chaperone!

Oh, good! See, now he has a new costume that is equally as easy to wear. :thumbsup2

That's funny too!

Chicken breast - just testing........

Pot roast. :confused3

I think because of breast cancer awareness, they don't censor that word any more. I know it was a big deal at the school libraries a few years ago that the kids couldn't search anything with the word breast in the search bar and they got that lifted. I mean, if kids want to see pictures of ****s on the internet, it's probably not that difficult. LOL

waiting to see if I get censored for b-o-o-b-s

eta: yup. *snort*

I remember when you posted the pics from a work party before! I thought this one was HIL-AR-IOUS!!! Hmmm...I'll have to add that to my list.

Has anyone done the Pirates Dinner Adventure? I think we are going to go on Saturday night. I can get tickets for $30 but I still don't know if it's worth it. I guess they have a Halloween theme (skeleton pirates) during October. I'm finding 50/50 review online.

That's a good price. I'd go. Just to say you did it. If you don't like it, you never have to go again. I think it would be fun though.

Love your sig name by the way. Jess does awesome work!

ETA: My in-laws did the regular pirate show and enjoyed it.

Conrgats on your good news, Katie. Hope all the kinks get worked out quickly and easily for you.

I've been reading along, but not posting much. My life is just not that interesting but .. my husband just got a new job after over a year of unemployment. We are ecstatic! I loved having him home, but we are both thrilled about his new job.

I'm heading for WDW tomorrow night and will be there until Thursday. Meeting up with Dagny & Lauren who were both on the inaugural DIS Diva trip. (4 years ago? 5?) I'm looking forward to seeing them again. I'll be missisng Jill, who is usually my trusty roommate for WDW. :( I'll be thinking of you, Jill! I'll try to post updates on facebook for those who like to 'follow along', but I'm a terrible mobile facebook poster. I promise to give it a try.

Oh! And last weekend Mary Jo, her daughter Kelly, Tink 33 (Lesley) and I took our second top 10 finish at Mouse Adventure. :cool1: It was the first time our entire team had been able to do MA together for over a year. Someone was always missing for the last few - until this time, and we rocked it. The halloween decorations were up and the park looks great. Hope everyone going soon has a great time.

I'll 'talk' to you all next week sometime when I'm back. (try not to post 4 pages a day, ok? :lmao:) :surfweb:

Yay for losing your virginity on your anniversary! :thumbsup2

Sorry about work. :sad2: It's so hard dealing with that kind of stuff.
My meeting went better than I was expecting. Basically, the issue is that the lesson plans I am following suite the teacher who wrote them - I teach differently. She has been going so slow that my class has 2 days of nothing to do while we wait for her to catch up. Our department head wants me to write my own lesson plans that cover the same material and focus on the issues my class needs help with. That should sort out any problems. He had nothing bad to say about me or my teaching skills - just that our plan wasn't working the way we thought it would. :goodvibes

Rochelle~ Yeah that picture was gross! I cannot believe she had papperazi. Ridiculous! I want to go to DL with you this weekend....booooooo for me for living too far away!

Linda~ I am so jealous you get to go to SYTYCD! I never remember to look up tour dates and buy tickets. Have fun!

I went to the Aqua Ball last night - a benefit to build a well in Malawi. It had all the awkwardness of a junior high dance. I had a moderate about of fun, but at least my dress was pretty! Tonight I am going roller skating and then next weekend I will be off to Fort Bragg to spend some time camping with my parents and family friends. I love it there - cold weather and the smell of the ocean....ahhhhhh :cloud9:

Oh Katie~ I like the costume I saw in Disney Family Fun magazine: you can be a Ceiling fan - wear a shirt that says "Ceiling #1" and carry pom poms!

I love your halloween costume ideas. Unfortuneatley, I'm 16 so I will not be able to attend this year's girls only trip.
