Girls Trip~OLD THREAD (see first post for link to new one)

I have decided I am too old/out of shape for these one day, kamikazie trips to DL. Especially when the temps are in the mid 90's. It was awesome fun, of course, but MAN was I FRIED.

And it looks like I won't be heading down in October for sure now. Funny (not) story. So, it's Friday and my DH checks the online banking this morning to see that his check is in there. No deposit. Hm. So he sticks his head into the boss' office and asks if there's a problem (like company-wide) and Mark tells him to come in and close the door. NEVER a good sign. Apparently, Mark was told by the owner in SoCal to terminate Russ (dh) on Wednesday. They also let go their only admin person that day. Mark refused. So Russ is now a "part time" employee. We have no idea currently how many hours a week he is going to get. The home office was saying 24, but Mark is trying for 32 (which would keep us on the medical insurance, which they do NOT pay for, so I don't see that as the issue). The company he works for is "circling the drain" and I doubt they will have an office here at the beginning of the year. Fun times. Not.

SO glad I made the trip this week because October is now TOTALLY out of the question. Next trip I get to make will be the Diva trip. SIGH.

Just catching up and thought I'd stop in and say hi!

We've just spent four days at my in-laws cabin. It was just DH and I, our 3 kids and my 2 brothers but we had a great time. Not TV, no internet, campfires every night and a lake 100 feet from the patio. It was perfect and very relaxing, my brothers are 18 and 24 and are a huge help with our kids and have way more energy that DH and I so it's a win win for everyone:)

Our next trip will be DH and I in Vegas in Sept, looking forward to some real alone time!

I'm caught up now and can't remember everything I wanted to comment on but I do remember...
Congrats to Trudi on becoming a grandma and Sarah on becoming an aunt!! I also loved your blanket, Sarah!
My sister is due in October and I'm praying she doesn't have him/her early while I'm in Vegas.

I'm heading down to see Vicki L. in a few minutes. Her mom says she has been doing better, but I am not quite sure what to expect. I will be sure to tell her that the Divas are thinking of her.

Later,
SarahMay

Good morning, ladies. Happy Saturday! :)

Ventura County beaches are soooooooooo much better than LA beaches !
:thumbsup2

As for me. Well I jinxed myself. Guess who is really not feeling good? Yep, went to work today and had to leave early as I was in the bathroom more than I was working. Felt like crud and now my head hurts and I live in about an hour. :guilty:
Michele, I hope you feel better fast and are still able to have a good time. Sending pixie dust your way!! :wizard:

Mom! You really didn't have to post this. And what did you have me dressed in? High waters? :lmao:
:rotfl2: Sarah, you and your mom are so cute! I love that you have such a good relationship, AND share a love of Disney.
I am close to my mom as well, but she is not a theme park person at all.

It's WAY better! I stopped riding Star Tours several years ago when it really made me motion sick/migrainy. I had to try it Wednesday and it ROCKED. MUCH MUCH MUCH better! I even got a fast pass to ride it again later!
Hmmmm, well, we'll see. I'll think about it. I can ride Indiana with no problems and that's pretty jerky. The only thing I will not do is Space Mtn. Ugh, talk about a headache. :sad2:

Oh no, that sucks. :( Lisa, I am so sorry.

Angie, that sounds heavenly! Why didn't you take me with you??? :rolleyes1
Glad you had fun. :)

I've been thinking about her and hoping she's been improving. Thanks for the updates, Sarah. And for passing along all of our well wishes.

Carol, How fun! Are you going to compete in Mouse Adventures?
I can't join the Divine Divas because that would disqualify them from an award they are trying to win, but I have considered seeing if I could join another team. Just not sure if I want to work that hard or just spend the day enjoying the park.

Sarah, keep us posted on Vicki L. I have been wondering how she is doing.

Dropped my son and his friend off at the airport yesterday for their trip to Vegas. Then today found his dress clothes which he just got back from the cleaners still in my closet. I hate to think how upset he was when he realized he left them, and hope it won't ruin his trip. Funny, I did the same thing once years ago (garment bag full of blouses) and had to run to a department store for some new ones. Hopefully he will do the same and move on - I know they were looking forward to going to some nice clubs and wanted to dress up.

I have one free movie pass expiring today and think I will go with DH to see The Help. I am considering going on ahead of him to see Harry Potter (just spent the last month seeing them all for the first time) and having him meet me there, but not sure I want to spend 5 hours at the movie theater.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday! We will be flirting with 100 degrees here today and tomorrow, so my plan is to stay inside as much as possible. LOL Of course, I've planned BBQ for dinner tonight. Oh well.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I was cold a couple of hours ago so my idea to 'warm up' was to go vaccuum out my mothers car. Being in the sun and her car warmed me up, and now having a clean car will make her happy. Let's see how messy it gets before we leave for Disneyland on Thursday night!!

I want to see that too. We have free movie passes so maybe tomorrow or some night this week I can talk Ruben into going with me.

Bring the family to Canada and we'll go for a week!
:yay: :car:

Flirting? Shoot, we've slept with 100 degrees, and moved on to 109 already.
I wish I could have stayed indoors all day, but nope. Darn kids wanted to be fed so I had to run out and get more groceries.

 Did you say cold???? You are someplace where it's actually cold???? I'll be right there!!!

Had a great morning at the Walk Now for Autism Speaks in Portland. All my kids were there (except Derek who had to work.....but with us in spirit). We got to meet & chat with Arthur & Jesse from the Biggest Loser. Very nice guys who are doing this because they found it to be a cause worth investing time & money into. They don't have any family members with autism, but were amazed that 1 in 110 kids are affected, 1 in 70 of them being boys. Their team raised the most money....over $10,000 !!!

We ended up raising $1015....so thank you to those that donated.....we wore all your names on our team tags!!!!

Tough day...3 hour drive down to see Vicki. She has a trachiotomy, a feeding tube, and is paralized on the left side. She was in and out of sleep the hour I was there. I am not even sure if she recognized me when she did have her eyes open...the scary thing is how her mom says this is such an improvement! I had a chance to talk to her friend Wendy who was also there and says she does have times when she is a lot more lucid, but no one has any idea what kind of recovery she will make. Afterwards I was just drained and since I wasn't too far away I went to the rainforest cafe at Southcenter Mall in Seattle. I figured it was as close to Disney (read my happy place) as I could get at that moment so I had a nice relaxing lunch there before heading home.

Once home I booked our shore excursions for our Disney Cruise. We are doing the Nassau Aquadventure, my dh, dnephew and I are doing parasailing, and I booked a 50 minute swedish massage in an open air cabana on Castaway Cay. I also registered the kids for the Oceaneers Club. I have to admit, working on this has made me a little less depressed, but not much. I just can't believe what Vicki is going through.

Oh, does anyone know if she is signed up for anything? Obviously she will not be coming along on the trip this year so her mom wanted me to make sure she didn't have any roommates lined up or deposits paid on anything yet.

Thanks everyone,
SarahMay

P.S. I did tell her you all were thinking of her.

 Sarah.......thank you for taking the time to go down & visit her....even with it being so hard....I'm sure it was really appreciated!!!

:littleangel: Vicki you're in our thoughts & prayers!! :grouphug:

Aw, Sarah. That wasn't easy, but I know that Vicki's family, and hopefully Vicki herself was aware and appreciated the gesture. I know I for one really am thankful you took the time to do that, and to pass along our well wishes.
I hope and pray that Vicki continues to make improvements, no matter how minor, each and every day.

I have to say I am glad to see you then came home and made those plans for yourself and your family. What Vicki is dealing with is a scary reminder that we all have to live in the moment, spend time with family and friends, and just live the life we want to live. Make memories and cherish them because unfortunately you never know what tomorrow brings.

Take care sweetie and get some rest. You've had an emotionally and physically draining day.

Laurie, great job on the walk. :cheer2:

Good morning!!

I woke up way too early, but at least I've gotten a lot done already. Last day before the kids go back to school. I am feeling a bit sad. Despite the bickering, I like having them home!! lol
Oh well.

I thought I was done with back to school shopping, but......low and behold, I realized I still need more supplies and Lindsey doesn't have enough shorts. With this weather lately, she needs shorts! So back to the stores we go.

Hope everyone else has a great day! :)

(where is everyone????? LOL)

We were SO hoping you could be on our team!! If we hadn't done so well in April, it wouldn't be an issue. Have you checked the MP MA boards? They usually start a thread for teams looking for members.

(where is everyone????? LOL)

I'm here!! Supposed to be 112 today, 113 tomorrow. It was 117 on Wednesday or Thursday, highest temp. in August here, ever! So glad I was able to enjoy it... NOT!!! At least the electric companies have been able to keep up. Just hoping for a little cool down, even some rain would be nice.

I'm here. :goodvibes

Sarah - My family is keeping Vicki in our thoughts and prayers. I really enjoyed the time I spent with her at DL this year.

Josh left Friday morning (he beat the hurricane) for his vacation at his parents house. So for the next 2 weeks I'm off from work and taking caring care of the kids.

I am so ready for this heat to be over with, 107 is the high here.

I hope you all are having a nice weekend.

Sarah - Thanks for the update on Vicki and for going to visit her. I know it's really hard to do that sometimes because it can be so difficult to see, but I'm sure that she and her family really appreciate it :flower3: Does anyone have an adress that anyone wanting to send a card could send it to (maybe we can get her mother's address or something??). Even though most of us can't be there to see her in person, we can certainly show our support with some funny and cheerful cards :thumbsup2

Laurie - congrats on your walk! I'm glad you did so well and had fun.

I'm here :cool1: I'm never sad for back to school (I know, bad mom - but holy schmoly is it hard sometimes with so many boys around the house, eating everything, dirtying all the towels, making a mess......... the usual kid stuff :rolleyes1)

Ooooh, and I have an exciting day planned. Guess what I'm doing........................

Working :cheer2: (I feel I need to cheer for myself sometimes :upsidedow)
