Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I feel more poopped than during the week. I hate that I cram too much into them. I did get a lot of stuff done though.

Cristabel, are you still going to be at WOD on Saturday morning?

I'll be there for WOD, unless something dramatic happens between now and then, but I'll be there first thing and then have to leave pretty early because Zoe has her first basketball game that day.

Does anyone have any idea what will be on sale? If anyone who doesn't have an AP wants to go with, just let me know.

I just finished reading a Hannah Swenson mystery, Plum Pudding Murder, and I'm on the wait list at the library for the next one, Apple Turnover Murder. I love her books!! Some other authors that are like her are Diane Mott Davidson, Janet Evanovich and Carolyn Hart, although the last 2 don't involve cooking but the books by Diane Mott Davidson include recipes as well!!

I am just finishing reading the Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder.

I think I want to get the Strawberry Shortcake murder next.

Kaeleb wants us to make a few of the cookies from the book.

Courtney, I've been thinking about it and I REALLY want to go to this sale! If I knew what was going for cheap it would help me decided if I'm really willing to be there at 5am!

Woo! I hope you get to go, Cristabel. We want to go too (getting up early is hard for us! Well on vacation, that is!)!! But I want to see what they'll have for 50%!! If you decide to go, please please let me know! :goodvibes

Okay, so something is wrong with my dog. On Thursday, my Uncle's GF brought her two kids over, one of them her 6 y/o DD. Well she just loved my dog (a Chihuahua) and my dog hated her. She would pick my dog up and chase her around the house. Now my dog is terrified of everyone. She won't let anyone but me (and DBF on Thursday) come near her and everytime we pick her up, she yelps. It's already been 2 days! :confused3 She's eating/going potty/etc. like normal. She even gets excited and everything when someone comes home, but as soon as they get settled, she's back with her tail between her legs and hiding in a corner. Since she only comes to me, I've been holding her and reassuring her. But I don't know what's wrong. I don't want to miss something if she really is hurt or sick. I have no idea. And she is kind of a drama queen anyways, so it's hard to tell if she's faking or for real. :confused3 We are at a loss with this little dog.

Aw, poor puppy
It seems she's still fearful but you just need to show her that everything is okay. I would suggest going to the Petco or Petsmart, or somewhere that's dog friendly and where she can meet new people. When someone wants to pet her, have them let her smell them first and then gently pet her. It may have been a traumatic experience but the only way to prevent that from completely changing her demeanor is to show her "okay, I can let these little humans pet me and they won't hurt me".

Also if your uncle's gf brings her kids again you need to set the rules about how to approach the dog and how to properly interact with the dog. Kids can be really rough and to a chihuahua they can cause pain. I don't blame the kids but I expect parents to teach their children how to introduce themselves to a strange dog.

I hope she starts acting like herself again. My dog, Jingles, had been with her foster mom for about 2 - 3 months and it seems she was treated to roughly because anytime we approach her to pet her she cowers as if to say "don't hurt me!". We're trying to gain her trust through different exercises but it's a challenge.

Much love and soft petting to your pooch.

Courtney it sounds like your dog may have just gotten to stressed......if everything else seems normal....I'd give it a few more days for the post-traumic stress to wane.

Just a quick drive-by to say hello.

I'm kinda having some Holiday Blues. I miss having my family all together.

I'm trying so hard to keep upbeat but inside, I'm just aching. I just want to be me and not put on an act. :sad1:

Thanks, Cristabel!

We kept telling the little girl to knock it off. But, she didn't listen very well. She has a big dog at home, but I guess didn't know what to do with a little dog.

I googled it, and it's common for dogs like Chihuahuas for this to happen. From what I read, to just treat her like normal and not too baby her too much because she could put 2 and 2 together and see that when she acts like a scaredy cat, she gets extra treatment. This morning she didn't want to jump off my bed, so instead of picking her up, I just left her there alone, and soon enough here she comes with her tail all wagging and everything. She does seem better today.

I need to take her to Petco to get her nails clipped (she doesn't let us do it, but let's them do it :confused3), but I think I'm going to wait and see how she is today. I don't want to scare her even more by taking her with a even more people manhandling her. I need to do it before we leave for DL though. So maybe tomorrow.

Courtney, do you have a facebook?

No facebook. I never got around to making one. :confused3 Maybe I should, huh?

Thanks Laurie! My Mom was so worried last night, she thought she was dying. She seems much better today though!

Morning all! Happy Sunday!

We are back from Truckee and we had a BLAST!! We left Friday afternoon and the weather was ok but for some stupid reason there was STILL a traffic jam once we got around Yuba Gap (which is about 40 miles from Truckee). We were literally at a stand still for over an hour almost just creeping along but we finally got there and it started snowing and the girls were SO excited because they claim they have never seen it snow. They have seen snow ALREADY on the ground but not it snowing. I think they have but they just don't remember. But anyway they were really excited and we were SUPPOSED to go to Squaw because Peggy Flemming was supposed to be putting on a free ice show but it started at 5 and with the traffic jam it was getting too late. SOOO we went to our fav pizza place for dinner and then just took the girls to this little ice rink that is outdoors in the park by my parents place. They had a great time. They had a fire pit out there and it was fun but COOOOLD! :)

Then on Saturday we just got up and relaxed by the fire for a bit and mom had to open up the house to show so we just kind of hung out most of the day but finally we left around 3 and headed to northstar and the girls skated at their ice rink there and had fun as well. We were sitting around one of their fire pits and the lady next to me told me that the family sitting to my left was Melissa Joan Hart's family. They were talking to us and offered us some of their smores. I kept looking and sure enough she was out on the ice skating with her older son and hubby and her mom was holding her younger son. I never realized she was one of 7 kids and I think most of them were there. We had a long conversation with them and it was kind of cool. I just acted like I didn't know who she was though cuz I didn't want to make her feel weird but it was kind of cool to be talking to her like she was just anybody. :)

Anyway then after we left we went and had some mexican food and then just came back home and decorated my mom's tree. Then this morning we had breakfast out at this cute little diner and came home. We have our soccer party at 2 today and then this next week is going to be kind of hectic cuz the girls have min days all next week and I have conferences for both of them. Plus my mom is leaving on Fri to go to mexico for 10 days. I am also going to a christmas ornament exchange party on Thur night and the girls have a girl scout deal on Friday night. So busy busy week.

Anyway that's bout it for me.

I forgot my camera so mom took all the pics with hers but I may try to scan a few one I get them developed. I got some really cute ones of the girls on the ice.

Hope everyone is having a good day and hope the vegas girls are having fun and Deb I hope you are relaxing and taking good care of yourself!

And Mel everything you described is EXACTLY what mom and I used to do every year in SF! I agree with you I LOVE It there and miss it! Have a blast!

Good morning.
I have to go back to school tonight :sad2:
We'll be leaving in a few hours to celebrate my cousin's 9th birthday at Boomer's in Irvine. It's such a long drive I don't know why my aunt is having it down there when they live in the San Fernando valley!

I have to leave Jingles in her crate for many hours today :guilty: She does really well in her crate but I still don't like leaving her in it for too long. I read on Dogster.com that " a good rule of thumb is that the maximum number of hours a dog should remain in its crate is its age in months plus one."

Amy is that accurate?
If so than that would mean I can safely crate Jingles for 6 hours before a potty break. Diana is walking her as we speak and I'm going to feed her when they get back. She'll be out playing for another hour or so before I make sure she goes potty and I put her in her crate.

Well enough off topic dog stuff from me! Sorry, didn't mean to ramble.

Deb, I hope you're feeling better

Before I forget I saw that on HGTV tonight they are showing Disney "Behind the Magic" ....it's their Holiday episode so all the behind the scenes stuff that they do to bring the Holidays to life at the Happiest Place On Earth. It starts at 8pm PST, not sure about East Coast.:tink:

Hola Ladies!

Vicki and Courtney, I'll keep my eyes out for you. :magnify: Maybe you too Cristabel. :goodvibes

Janelle, this is for you. Thanks for the heads up for the special tonight on Disney.

Tracey, you crack me up.

Kelly, sounds like you had a wonderful time. :cloud9:

Deb, take care. :hug::flower3:

So this Saturday Guy Fieri is having a special on the Food Network about Christmas at DL. And of all weekends I will be gone.:sad2: I get Comcast. Do any of you know if I can somehow record that through my cable if I request it. Is that what "On Demand" can do?

I hope everyone else had a fabulous weekend.

Hey ladies! It was kinda a bummer Thanksgiving around here as both Dave and I were sick with really bad colds. I have been feeling it since Wednesday and only now am starting to feel functional again. So, unfortunately I ended up missing the Vegas girls adventures of the weekend AND I didn't really get anything accomplished this weekend in terms of house stuff, Christmas decorating, etc.

Vicki, Courtney, Mel, Cristabel and anyone else who is hitting the AP shopping event next Saturday: Amazing news, I will get to be at the big sale next Saturday too!

We are taking Ty to see the Imagination Movers (Disney's version of the Wiggles) in downtown LA on Saturday and the plan is that we are driving over on Friday night. While Dave told me that we were staying near the concert venue (Nokia Theatre), he surprised me tonight with the fact that we are staying at Hojo and that he booked us one last breakfast with Lilo and Stitch since that is our very favorite character meal and it is changing to Mickey and Friends as of Dec. 11th!!!

Thus, I will also get to go shopping before breakfast! I feel so spoiled, as we also have a 4 night trip booked for later in the month. But, Dave feeds my Disney habit well and is giving me a few hours in the park on Friday night as he knows that we can't be so close to Disneyland and not go.

Oh, and Mel--I am so jealous that you got two Zhu Zhus. I have been trying to find them with no luck. It's not an end of the universe kind of thing since Ty still doesn't even really grasp what Christmas is, let alone the fact that he doesn't know the Zhu Zhus either, but they are so cute and I know that he would just love them! I have been tracking them online, but no luck yet.

Janelle, thank you for remind us about the Disney special on HGTV. I have it on right now!

Cristabel, have a safe drive home. I hope to see you Saturday shopping bright and early!

Melody, I'll be watching for youuu!

Jane, yay! Have a great time at DL and seeing the Imagination Movers! I'll keep an eye out for you Saturday!!! Have a safe drive to LA. We'll be at the Hojo Friday night (our last night). We're staying in building 2!!

So I'm fairly sure that someone has cursed me, although I don't know who or why, but still, it must be true because otherwise, why would everything continue to be so sucky.

In the last seven days I've:

Lost a friend
Had a flooded basement
Ruined carpet
Stinky House
No hot water for 4 days
Signed a $1700 bill for a new gas hot water heater
Homework all flippin' day, everyday, except actually ON Thanksgiving day
Dealt with a crappy learning team member - again.
Am behind about 8 loads of laundry
Been put in the middle of my brother's divorce
Received a call from my crying mother today
My dad is going downhill fast and must come home from Lake Havasu to Spokane asap
Has had NO time to decorate for Christmas
Have no presents yet
House is a mess
Had an argument with hubby at 1:30am last night about "watching TV" even though it's only been 3 days. (Sorry, TMI)
And I've cried or been on the verge of crying almost everyday.

It's enough already. I just can't take it anymore.
