Cristabel - it was a 2 on the list you sent....
Oh, okay. Thanks!
Cristabel - it was a 2 on the list you sent....
Cristabel, are you still going to be at WOD on Saturday morning?
I just finished reading a Hannah Swenson mystery, Plum Pudding Murder, and I'm on the wait list at the library for the next one, Apple Turnover Murder. I love her books!! Some other authors that are like her are Diane Mott Davidson, Janet Evanovich and Carolyn Hart, although the last 2 don't involve cooking but the books by Diane Mott Davidson include recipes as well!!
Woo! I hope you get to go, Cristabel. We want to go too (getting up early is hard for us! Well on vacation, that is!)!! But I want to see what they'll have for 50%!! If you decide to go, please please let me know!
Okay, so something is wrong with my dog. On Thursday, my Uncle's GF brought her two kids over, one of them her 6 y/o DD. Well she just loved my dog (a Chihuahua) and my dog hated her. She would pick my dog up and chase her around the house. Now my dog is terrified of everyone. She won't let anyone but me (and DBF on Thursday) come near her and everytime we pick her up, she yelps. It's already been 2 days! She's eating/going potty/etc. like normal. She even gets excited and everything when someone comes home, but as soon as they get settled, she's back with her tail between her legs and hiding in a corner. Since she only comes to me, I've been holding her and reassuring her. But I don't know what's wrong. I don't want to miss something if she really is hurt or sick. I have no idea. And she is kind of a drama queen anyways, so it's hard to tell if she's faking or for real.
We are at a loss with this little dog.
Aw, poor puppy
It seems she's still fearful but you just need to show her that everything is okay. I would suggest going to the Petco or Petsmart, or somewhere that's dog friendly and where she can meet new people. When someone wants to pet her, have them let her smell them first and then gently pet her. It may have been a traumatic experience but the only way to prevent that from completely changing her demeanor is to show her "okay, I can let these little humans pet me and they won't hurt me".
Also if your uncle's gf brings her kids again you need to set the rules about how to approach the dog and how to properly interact with the dog. Kids can be really rough and to a chihuahua they can cause pain. I don't blame the kids but I expect parents to teach their children how to introduce themselves to a strange dog.
I hope she starts acting like herself again. My dog, Jingles, had been with her foster mom for about 2 - 3 months and it seems she was treated to roughly because anytime we approach her to pet her she cowers as if to say "don't hurt me!". We're trying to gain her trust through different exercises but it's a challenge.
Much love and soft petting to your pooch.
Courtney, do you have a facebook?
Courtney it sounds like your dog may have just gotten to stressed......if everything else seems normal....I'd give it a few more days for the post-traumic stress to wane.
So I'm fairly sure that someone has cursed me, although I don't know who or why, but still, it must be true because otherwise, why would everything continue to be so sucky.
In the last seven days I've:
Lost a friend
Had a flooded basement
Ruined carpet
Stinky House
No hot water for 4 days
Signed a $1700 bill for a new gas hot water heater
Homework all flippin' day, everyday, except actually ON Thanksgiving day
Dealt with a crappy learning team member - again.
Am behind about 8 loads of laundry
Been put in the middle of my brother's divorce
Received a call from my crying mother today
My dad is going downhill fast and must come home from Lake Havasu to Spokane asap
Has had NO time to decorate for Christmas
Have no presents yet
House is a mess
Had an argument with hubby at 1:30am last night about "watching TV" even though it's only been 3 days. (Sorry, TMI)
And I've cried or been on the verge of crying almost everyday.
It's enough already. I just can't take it anymore.
