Thank you for all of the Happy Birthdays!

After work last night DBF and I went to Dave & Busters and then to see Dark Shadows. The movie was SO slow. I fell asleep and missed the last 1/4 of it. :rotfl: I had heard that it wasn't too good but I still wanted to see it, but I wish we hadn't.

I'm on the waiting list at the library for 50 Shades. The waiting list is long!

Lisa oh girl I hate to tell you but you may need a crown. EXACT same thing happened to me. My tooth broke at a really old filling and I needed the crown. Just hopefully you don't need the root canal too! Good luck with the ins and all.
Yeah, I'm mentally prepared for the crown already. I have one other crown, on the molar above this one.

But Now that i am all calm, im good...its a simple dress.. and shes paying me well for it. But still.. a wedding dress?? :scared1:

I'm sure it will be fine!

After reading Jill's "review" of CarsLand on FB this morning, I'm even more excited about my trip at the end of July. I just need to get thru Convention first! LOL

Good morning, ladies!!
This is my kids last day of school!! :cool1: This time last year I was getting ready to go to my twins elementary school for their promotion ceremony. They were so nervous about going into middle school, and some kids were crying about leaving friends who were off to different schools. And now, another year gone. Where does the time go??

I was dreaming of red-headed Scottish men hitting on me in my dreams last night :rotfl:
Ahhhhh. Sounds nice. :cloud9:

Part of getting older huh? Gee, sags, wrinkles, spider veins, now moving teeth !
I have all of the above, but my teeth don't just move, they are breaking and falling out! I am sure I need thousands of dollars worth of dental work. My dentist said it's not that I don't have good oral hygiene habits, just bad genetics. Great.

Hope to catch up on the thread this weekend!
Hi Bridget!

I believe they mean my costume for Buena Vista Street. Of which I will not be posting photos of on the DIS! :lmao:
Oh come on! We wanna see. popcorn::

Happy to hear they got it all! :thumbsup2 Skin cancer is not fun stuff. My dad and sister have dealt with it quite a bit. I use sunscreen every day!:thumbsup2
I am starting to use it daily now. I just had three moles removed and waiting for the results was agony. I am trying to be careful now. My goal is to be as pale as possible! LOL

But Now that i am all calm, im good...its a simple dress.. and shes paying me well for it. But still.. a wedding dress?? :scared1:
You can do it!!! :cheer2:

I was so excited for that movie based on the trailer which was hilarious. Then, I read the reviews and they all said it was awful so we decided not to spend the money to see it. :sad2:

Kerri, your trip with your DDs sounds so nice. I did that last year with my DDs and it was very special. After we got back, they made me a digital book from Shutterfly with all of our pictures. It's a real keepsake for me. :cloud9:

How sweet, it's actually just Cassidy and I this trip, I'm going to do one for Jade and I when she hits 16. :) I'm really excited, I have a couple of really fun surprised planned for Cassidy, she will be thrilled!! :)

I believe they mean my costume for Buena Vista Street. Of which I will not be posting photos of on the DIS! :lmao:

yes, that's what I mean :) You don't have to post them on the Dis, I want to see it in person! I'll post them on the Dis.....:rotfl: kidding!!! :)

Sarah Happy Birthday belated. Hope you had fun. And I know you are not on FB but I got the same bag as you except I got the Kassey for MY b-day. Bought it for myself. Those are the best presents ;) I LOVE it and just got it yesterday. Can't wait to use it!!

School is winding down. Shelby has a play today and Katy has her swim party. Not sure what they are doing tomorrow but prob not much since they have turned everything in. Tomorrow will be Katy's last day since she is skipping the half day on monday to go to shelby's promotion with me. So ALMOST done and then I will have two middle schoolers. EEK!

I am off to play golf tonight with mom and a friend so looking forward to that although I woke up with a stupid migraine so hope it doesn't ruin it.

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!

I have the Kasey too, which print did you get? I got the Tahitian, it's so cute!! It was my birthday gift to me as well. ;) I'm fighting a migraine right now, I can't decide if I need to just go home or not........I'm hoping it doesn't get worse than it is, right now it's just a headache but it's got the markers to be worse. I hope you feel better soon!

I think I might have read some of the Outlander series? Who is the author?
Have you ever read any books by Julie Garwood, Judith McNaught, or Julia Quinn? By far my favorite romance writers! The ones set in old England and Scotland are the best. (At least for me.) Julie Garwood and Judith McNaught have contemporary novels, but I likes me some castles and keeps! princess: Julia Quinn has a whole series about one family. I believe about 7 or 8, one for each sibling. Make sure you start with the first sibling. Same with the other authors. Much of their books spin off from the first and so on.

Outlander is written by Diana Gabaldon (I'm not sure that spelled right), they are great, I haven't read them for quite a while tho. I LOVE Julie Garwood, do you read Amanda Quick? I love her too. I have quite a few "go to" authors that I just love to read.

Oh I have heard about 50 shades of gray! Oh MY!!! SOunds like my kinda book..;):lmao:

So I met up with that lady from Craigslist last night.. I met her at Joanns to look at fabric and get an idea of what she wanted for colors and stuff... WELL. SHe walks up, we introduce ourselves.. SHe pulls out some colored papers and says to me.. So.. Im getting married in August.. UMMMMMMMM. WHAT????? Its her WEDDING DRESS. I almost barfed on her right then. You want me to make your WEDDING DRESS???? AND she wants me to make her 2 daughters bridesmaid dresses... Oh goodness. I have been doing really well on my diet.. Until after that meeting. No joke.. I ate 2 candy bars, a bagel and cream cheese, and like 3 beef jerky sticks. THen I was sick.. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

But Now that i am all calm, im good...its a simple dress.. and shes paying me well for it. But still.. a wedding dress?? :scared1:

You'll do fine, and think of the photos you can take for your future clients? :) I know you're nervous tho, I would be freaked out too. Can you share photos when you're done?

Today is the last day of school for my girls, then Cassidy has summer schools from the 13th-3rd. It's only from 8:30-12:30 so it's not that bad. I'm thinking I'm going to have her ride her bike, I need to be at work before she has to be at school and I only get 30 minutes for lunch so it would be difficult for me to get her to and from. The bike route is protected so I may just have her do that. It's only 10 am and I'm ready to go home........

Had a crazy week. As some of you know from my fb my grandpa went missing since Sat. He was found late last night driving the wrong way on the freeway :scared1: In Thousand Oaks. Thankfully he's ok, well sort of obviously he's lost his mind and now has no choice but to have my mom take care of him.

I'm just very thankful he was found safe. It is very difficult going through something like that. *HUGS* to your family!

By the way, what the heck is steampunk?? I Googled steampunk fashion images and mostly got retro Victorian looking stuff. :confused3

I LOOOOVE me some steampunk - and I am super excited about that shop since I am a plus size girl and finding decent clothing options is near impossible ! I would dress that way everyday if I could.
I think the best way I describe it to people is watch Wild Wild West , LOL.
It's kind of like apocalyptic era meets Victorian.

It broke at a filling. A filling that is God only knows how old. Over 20 years, maybe 30. LOL. Sounds like it's not uncommon. Ugh. My teeth have been moving around like CRAZY. I'm told it's part of "getting older".... Wheeeeee.....

Don't feel too bad - I broke TWO molars. Each one had an old filling - 15ish years old - and they finally gave out - then the teeth decayed down. One was able to be saved and I had a root canal about a month ago. I was petrified at the words "root canal" , but honestly it's not at all that bad ! Heck in my procedure I didn't feel any pain at all and I feel so much better. I still have to go back and get my permanent crown after vacation but I am just sorry I didn't do it sooner. It will be okay !

yes, that's what I mean :) You don't have to post them on the Dis, I want to see it in person! I'll post them on the Dis.....:rotfl: kidding!!! :)

The first Diva to find me on Buena Vista Street should take a photo, haha. Actually everyone should ;)

Hi everyone. Hope you're having a splendid Thursday!

Yuck for cracked molars! :sad2:

Yay for making a wedding dress! :cheer2:

Yes I want to see Jessica in her outfit! ::yes::

Nothing exciting to post as usual. I did stumble into the bathroom in the middle of the night while half asleep to go potty and soon discovered there was no toilet paper anywhere in the bathroom. Took me an hour to get back to sleep after having to "wake up" in order to solve the dilema. :upsidedow

Carthay Theatre in DCA. Can't wait to go to DCA when all the walls are down.

Someone gave Kaitlyn that book for graduation. I DON'T THINK SO!

I told my babysitter, who just graduated high school, that she had to wait until she graduated college to read it :rotfl: The Outlander series is fantastic...long as heck, but fantastic. I haven't heard of the other authors. I am not really big on "romance" novels, but don't mind romance mixed in. I do LOVE books set in the UK - I have read all of Phillipa Gregory's books and just devour them the moment they hit the shelf!
I started 50 Shades of Grey last week. I am on the 3rd book now. And "wowza!" is an understatement! Lol.
It is a quick ready, huh?! I am almost done with the first book and I started it yesterday.

Crazy! Good luck with that! Can you make pinup/swing style dresses? If so we need to talk :rolleyes1

Now I am really going to have to look up these authors :cloud9:

Every year I try to read 100 books - I always get close, but then books like Jane Eyre and Outlander get sent my way. A part of me thinks I should count them as several books :rotfl: I am on book 30-something right now. It's been slow going with the long books I keep picking. Thank goodness 50 shades is short and sweet.

So, we did the bulk of our vacation shopping today - headed over to Costco and stocked up on crasins, meat, dried mango, and other goodies to keep my hungry boys happy on our trip. We are only planning to eat DLR food about 5 times in 9 days so our wallets and waists thank us when we come home. I would love to try one of the new restauants in DCA, but I think they are going to be uber packed while we are there. That may have to wait for one of my trips later this year.

BTW...we were planning on eating at Napa Rose for our anniversary in October, but should we switch to Carpathy Circle? The DH has never been to Napa before.

Outlander is written by Gabaldon. I've read that series twice. Judith McNaught is one of my favorites, and I have read books by all the authors you mentioned plus Johanna Lindsay and Jude Deveraux. One of my favorites was Knight in Shining Armour. I cried when I read that book. I was in the living room, and I guess my ex heard me because he came running out of the bedroom all concerned... that is, until he found out I was crying over a romance novel. :rotfl:

Yeah, I like a little escapism reading now and then.... and Jamie in Outlander. mmmmm what a man! :teeth:

I think you should make reservations for both, and then after there have been a few reviews for Carthay Circle you can decide. :) We have a reservation there on July 9th. :)

I read a lot, I have a Nook and I love it!

I have almost every single Johanna Lindsey and Jude Deveaux books in paperback, they are in storage but I have them. :) I started reading Johanna when I was much younger, I would just go grab my Mom's romance novels to read. lol I love her Mallory series.

Yeah, I like a little escapism reading now and then.... and Jamie in Outlander. mmmmm what a man! :teeth:
I know, right?! A big, muscly redhead with a Scottish accent!? :cloud9:

That is a good idea! I cannot wait :) I would make a reservation for CC for our trip this month, but I don't want my kids there with us. Who wants to babysit at DL?! :lmao:

Thankfully, mine is "crownable". I am the only member of my family blessed with good teeth (other than the orthodontia side of it - there I'm a bottom feeder with my bugs bunny front teeth and a million other ortho issues- LOL). They sealed it today and "filed down" the sharp edges and I go back on the 26th, full of valium, to get the crown work done. Then back for the final, which is a piece of cake. LOL You know they are going to want to do the last piece of that when I'm at convention, right? LOL I'm just happy to be able to "mouth breathe" without pain at this point. Actually, pain is a little of an overstatement, it's not that bad.

LOL... True escapism!

I loved Jude Deveraux in her early years of writing the most.
I have also read Johanna Lindsay.

How about Heather Graham? She wrote a 3 book series on the Civil War that I really liked. "One Wore Gray"One Wore Blue" and "One Rode West". :thumbsup2

Kerri, I have read some of Amanda Quick's novels also. :goodvibes

I have also read some Christina Dodd who is pretty good. She's almost too graphic for me. :rolleyes1 LOL!

My favorite series so far were the ones from Julia Quinn on the Bridgerton's. :cloud9:

Kerri, I have read some of Amanda Quick's novels also. :goodvibes

Funny story..so when I was in high school ( like 15 maybe) I borrowed a book from the public library and was reading a book by Amanda Quick. My parents didn't really monitor what I watched or read - I was a quiet straight A student who didn't date and was ridiculously naive for her age. Well I was reading one of her books and I kept seeing this one word I had no clue what it was..So I decided to ask my mom.

Me: "Mom..what's this word mean?" ( was describing part of a male statue)

Mom: "What are you reading ??"

Me: " Just this book and it keeps taking about a statue..what is it ?"

Mom: ::blank stare and long conversation ensues::

I will never forget that night..lol:rotfl2:
