Rainbow cupcakes are good and fun and easy to make. :) I'm not a big fan of cabbage either, but the way I make corned beef the cabbage is really good and then there's the awesome cole slaw at the BBQ ;)

Jess, I'm glad you found a place to stay. I wish we could have met before you moved but that's OK, one day I'll hunt you down in DL and you won't be able to get away.....muahahahahahaha ;) kidding of course, about the getting away at least. ;) I'm glad you found a place, I hope it works out! :)

Speaking of, I did find a place. I just have to pass a credit check for their landlord and then everything will be all set I suppose. I get along great with the couple (the wife is a huge Snow White fan ;)) but they do smoke so it wouldn't have been my first choice. Thankfully it's not bad since they mainly smoke outside but I'm taking an air purifier with me. It'll be temporary until I can find new roommates through work or until their neighbor's space opens up who I had contacted originally. I had met up with others, but they decided that me having to work at 3am just wasn't a good fit. But hey, a roof over my head is better than nothing, right?

I wish I lived closer. I don't mind organizing and packing and would totally come lend a hand!

So, are you renting an apartment from this couple or a room in their house? The smoking comment threw me off...

Hi Divas! My name is Linda and I love Disney! I did post once on this wonderful thread last year and really wanted to do your Diva trip but I was just getting back from a mega WDW vacation and I just knew my DH wasn't going to be too happy if I took off again. That being said I want to go this year .... already have it penciled in on my calendar. So please sign me up ... hope to bring my daughter but that will depend on work and school.

Most of the DIS folks I "talk" to are on the east coast so this will be great to have a group of ladies in my same time zone to chat with.
Hi Linda! Hope you're not really a grumpy grandma.:rotfl: I'll be a first time grandma in about 2 weeks.
Good morning, ladies!! TGIF!!! :cool1:  Tonight we're going to see Noelle in her school play. She gets killed, stabbed to be exact, and has to die on stage. I think she's pretty psyched about it. LOL
Cool! I hope she really draws it out and is very dramatic! Are you filming it?
My mom and I will be at Disneyland. Hopefully the threat of rain (100% chance :rotfl:) will keep the crowds away. I like Disneyland in the rain. :thumbsup2

We both really enjoyed the Surf's Up Character breakfast durning the ladies trip so we are doing it again tomorrow morning. :)

I found this cute Mickey shirt at Target. Only $9.99.

Why didn't you get me one?
Great plans, Sarah! I want to tag along! I love Disneyland in the rain. Best time to be there, imo. Perfect shirt, too. Have a great time. Take some photos. I wonder if there will be anything St. Patty's Day related? A dessert or something?

I'm hoping for a special Green dessert. As long as it's not mint.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome. Anytime anyone want to do a little Dis mini meet let me know. I was surprised at how many of you are in No CA. I can hardly wait for the DL trip so I can put faces to names.

I do agree with you on the awesome coleslaw. That BBQ sounds so good right now. Wanna meet for dinner?? ;) If only.... lol

I'm renting a room.
OK, got it. That makes sense why their smoking, even outside might bother you. Hopefully it won't be too bad, and as you said, it's only temporary. :)

Cool! I hope she really draws it out and is very dramatic! Are you filming it?
Maybe. It would have to be with the camera though. I don't even know where our camcorder is.

We have a lot of awesome NorCal Divas. If you haven't already, take a peek at the first page. Lots of photos/names there. Not the same as IRL, but it helps.

Also, if you, or any of our newer ladies like Andrea, Pam, Charlene, etc want to post a photo, I'll be happy to officially add you to the group. :)

Also forgot to say that Kaitlyn is going to Australia for 9 months in September for a mission trip. We have given her strict instructions that she is NOT to get involved with anyone over there!!!!

I have something to say on this one! Julie... my sister in law.. for those not in the know.. Is 18, and has lived with us for the past ummm.. little over a year and a half. SHe is from Germany.. The original plan was for her to do her senior year with us, and then go home. Because of the german school system.. she ended up having to do her junior and senior years. SHe graduates in June and goes home. For good. Maybe. ;)

Maybe.. Only because she has a new boyfriend. UGH. #1. SHe has/had? a boyfriend in germany. What happened to him?? DUnno. I have been instructed by my husband not to get nosy. :rolleyes1 So now what?? What if she totally falls for this guy and wants to stay???? :scared1::scared1::scared1: I am hoping not. Her mom would gut us alive.

Then throw in the fact that her mom, in germany, is dadting this new guy.. her parents have been seperated for years.. but her mom has NEVER dated. ANyhoo.. now shes dating, and ALL she talks about on the phone is this dude.

I told my husband that I give it the summer before she calls and asks if she can come back. :lmao: I HOPE not. But I wouldnt be surprised.

I just looked through all my photos, and I don't have any of just me. This is the best one I could find. At least it's Disney! :)

Hi, Linda! I'm in Sacramento also!

Anyone doing anything fun? Getting drunk on green beer? Eating....what's traditional?....cabbage, corn beef and potatoes?

Corned beef and potatoes here. I don't care for cooked cabbage, so our cabbage will be Big Thunder Ranch Coleslaw. LOL

Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue Cole Slaw

Serves 6 to 8

1/2 cup white-wine vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon coarse salt
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
1 pound shredded green cabbage (about 1/2 large cabbage)*
1 pound shredded purple cabbage (about 1/2 large cabbage)*
2 carrots, shredded*

Combine vinegar, sugar, salt, celery seed, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne in a blender; blend on low speed until sugar is dissolved.
With blender running, slowly pour oil through top of lid, processing until dressing is combined. Set aside.
Combine shredded cabbage and shredded carrots in a separate large bowl. Add dressing, tossing to combine. Refrigerate for 2 hours, tossing occasionally, before serving.

*(can use two bags of ready made cole slaw mix)

Should at least prove to be an INTERESTING trip, huh?

And no, I didn't go anywhere. And we didn't even get to host a student. An early example of how the golden rays shine down on my sister. LOL

It has already started out interesting! We jsut arrived an hour ago and one of the students mom calls me to tell me that her daughter just called to tell her that she is fevering and has chicken pox.  And....we have all just been exposed to her for the last 6 hours. I know catching it after already having it is pretty slim, but is it still possible? My boss isn't here yet. Any advice on what to do? We stuck her in a cot by herself, but since my boys have never had it, and I only had it as a kid, I don't know what to do.

Youza! Are you sure that it is chicken pox?
As for you to come down with chicken pox again is very rare, unless you had a really mild case as a child.
Were your boys vaccinated for chicken pox? If so, then hopefully they will not be contacting them. I am presuming that is why they have not had them?

Now, what to do with your student. I think that your principle should be the one responsible for her. All along you have been planning this whole trip for the kids, and it would not be fair to you or your students if you couldn't be with them.

I hope by now, you have something figured out.
Take care!

Are you sure it's chickenpox? If it is, it's contagious for a few days before you get the "rash" and until that rash crusts over (which sounds really yucky, huh??). So if she's just getting the rash now, she is contagious. Hopefully one of her parents can drive down and pick her up or find some other way to get her home. That would just stink being sick and away from home.

Hi Ladies!

Hi ladies!

Happy Saint Patricks Day!!

Adam is going to a formal dance tonight so we are running around with last minute details like picking up the corsage, etc.
This stuff is expensive!! lol

Anyway hope you all have a great day!

Jen, sorry to hear one of the kids is sick. I don't know much about it, but I hope it all turns out ok.

Megan, yikes about Julie falling in love! Not good timing. lol

Lisa, I love that coleslaw. Made it about two weeks ago!

Hi, Tracey and Theresa!

Andrea, thanks for the photo. I will edit it and post it later.

TTYL!

I got the same code offer. I *should* use it to book a trip up to Portland to see Mommy Dearest. Hm.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Divas!

My corned beef is in the crock pot. My soda bread just came out of the oven. My Big Thunder Ranch coleslaw is getting ready to get mixed and put in the fridge. And right now it's BEER-THIRTY. LOL

:surfweb: Read back a few, new Divas - woohoo! :goodvibes
Move and place to live - fun adventure! :thumbsup2
Lost job- boo that sucks... :sad1:
Flash mobs? hmmmm...
sword fight -that was fun to watch! :)
Teen drivers and the high cost of driver's ed - :sad2: and
Chicken pox - even if you had the vaccine, you can still get a very mild case and still be contagious... figured that out when my boys had just one "scab" and later my nephew (who didn't get the vaccine) got a full blown case of the itchies. It's a concern if you are pregnant or have low immunity due to chronic illness, cancer treatment, etc. Which is why now it's a required vaccine for enrollment in MN schools. If you had it before, you should be just fine.

There is more.. but my brain is mush right now, I think I did too much today. :rolleyes1 Cleaning and getting some things together for my in-laws.

Hubby and I were trying to remember the last time his mom was here... uh??.. noo.. was it??? .. no...
ohhhh it was Justin's graduation, last spring! EEK! About time they came to visit.

We have no plans, maybe check out a local family owned Mexican restaurant that our neighbor raved about. Or maybe just chill at home.
Chill being very important for me, I feel better when it's cooler (darn fibro!) What month is it again?? Running my air conditioner this early is a bit bizarre, it's been in the 80's and just a touch of humidity. Breezy but not enough to come IN to cool it off when the afternoon sun was beating down. ::sunny:: It got up to 86 in our apartment before I caved and turned on the air... ahhhhh much better. :cloud9: It's funny to see the last dirty snow drift in the shade of the parking lot, yet see green grass and dandelion leaves spouting up. Robins hunting for worms in the yard and the geese walking on the ice over the pond. Weird! back to 50's next week, crossing my fingers we shall have no more of that evil white "S" show up. :cold:

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Have a great time tomorrow - really cute shirt!

Thanks!

Maybe I'll swing by work and grab that Mickey t-shirt! I love that we usually get a new one with each 'holiday' and then some.

I have quite a few Target Disney shirts. :thumbsup2

Great plans, Sarah! I want to tag along! I love Disneyland in the rain. Best time to be there, imo. Perfect shirt, too. Have a great time. Take some photos. I wonder if there will be anything St. Patty's Day related? A dessert or something?

Well Surf's Up had this:

232323232%7Ffp43584%3Enu%3D3236%3E478%3E%3A58%3EWSNRCG%3D34%3C2%3C%3B8695326nu0mrj

But I didn't see too many people ordering it. I did!

232323232%7Ffp43453%3Enu%3D34%3C3%3E236%3E943%3E25%3B4236%3A34235ot1lsi

And the Jolly Holiday Bakery had a mint chocolate cupcake. It was SO good!

232323232%7Ffp43587%3Enu%3D3236%3E478%3E%3A58%3EWSNRCG%3D34%3C2%3C%3B8694326nu0mrj

I'm hoping for a special Green dessert. As long as it's not mint.

But you liked it!
