Girls Only Trip. OLD THREAD! Please see first post for link to new one, thanks!

I would love to eat there. I am not at all thrilled with the menu. Not even sure what I'd order to be honest. But I can't eat there with my family, can you imagine the bill for a party of SIX???? So that's why I want to do it in March.
Plus the atmosphere just seems so cool.

Awww, that's sweet of you. But if you don't want to eat there, please don't feel as though you have to. We can plan it for one of the days like we did last time and then whomever is interested can sign up for it. :thumbsup2

I want to do a character meal too!!! I've only ever done Lilo and Stitch and we LOVED it! I know when we talked about it on the thread before, everyone was all for it, so that's actually the only thing I've got on the list so far. LOL

But I'm open for any of the character meals really. As long as we do one with as many of the ladies as we can get. :dance3:

That's exactly how I feel. It's like a splurge just for me. :goodvibes

Ruth and I split the short ribs too and it was enough for both of us. (Plus we each got our own salad). I think splitting is the way to go because #1 it's more economical and #2 you aren't too full to eat yummy treats later!!!!!!!

I'll admit it's been hard to think about the March trip when we have our October family trip and the mini meet coming up. All my energy has been focused on that. And I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I cannot wait to see those of you attending the meet!! :cool1:

I know once I'm back from this family trip, then March will be all I can think and talk about. :rotfl: BUT if anyone has any ideas or thoughts, please toss 'em out there. Don't feel like you have to wait for someone else to suggest it or bring it up first. We'd all like to hear it. That goes for all our wonderful "newbies" too!!! :)

We've got lists posted for tours, so if you haven't added your name to one of those lists already, just let me know and I'll add you.

Hopefully those who need rooms at HoJo have made reservations already. If not, remember it's first come, first served so don't wait too long.

Are we still interested in doing some sort of get to know you meet and greet thing the first night there? Shall we try and do that at the HoJo? OR maybe plan a big official opening night dinner somewhere?

We can start thinking about meal ideas like Sarah said. Anyone interested in going off site for a meal? There is the Garden Walk which has things like Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., PF Changs, etc. That might be an option one day. (Lord knows I'd love me some cheesecake!!! LOL)

We still need ideas for the tees. What do you all think of each buying our own shirt, having a DISigner making us a design and everyone printing their own?? That would make it easier in some ways because each person can make sure to get the right size/style of tee, and no one person would be in charge of ALL the tees, no hassle with payments, etc. Everyone would be responsible for bringing their own. Thoughts on that?

Are we going to use the lanyards from last trip? If so, we need to find out where to order more since we have almost an equal number of new ladies this year. Or should we skip lanyards and go for something else matching like matching tiaras, or boas, or whatever.

Anyone know when the park hours will be posted for our dates? Is it in December? That will help a lot just knowing what's open and when.

Anyway, lots to think about. I promise you I haven't forgotten about it. LOL Don't hesitate to throw an idea out there. These aren't decisions that have to be made today, but rather things to keep in mind for when the time comes. I want everyone to have fun, get what they want out of the trip and feel like they were a part of the planning. :thumbsup2

I second that last part! :rotfl2:

Girls--feeling totally overwhelmed. Only 30 days until I leave for WDW!!!!!!!

AND going to DL this Fri. night for the TOT party--was supposed to make special t-shirts for Steve and myself. Never happened--have all the stuff--just can't get to it in time. So I went to the Disney outlet last night and bought some other t-shirts (matching--won't that be too cute?) Not knowing what he would want to wear I got us TWO different shirts apiece--one is with Mickey and has four king cards on it--a poker theme. The other one is a Tower of Terror theme--which is probably what we will wear Fri. nite.

But I AM making t-shirts for my Mom and I to wear to Florida (come H*** or highwater!) (oops--given all the flooding lately probably not a good term to use!)

and then the Mini-Meet! Luckily I was on the ball and ordered our leis some time ago so they are here already.

And who wants to work when there's so much Disney to plan? (dang clients)

Beth: I definitely think we should plan something for the first night--if we do it at Hojo's maybe a pizza (order it in) salad and wine/beer party? and we could make things to decorate our doors?

or I like the dinner idea too . . .

I do think (especially for the newbies) it will help to be in a "safe" atmosphere to meet everyone the first time and get to know people. (Although we don't bite--promise!)

They are supposed to inaugurate the Big Thunder BBQ dinner sometime next spring--if it's open by then that may be a fun thing to do.

Oh, who am I kidding?:confused3I love the BB atmosphere so even if I don't have to eat there I probably will. The food IS good but when I went I was BROKE :lmao:so it hurt my pocketbook a little. But next time I should be rollin' in the dough.:rotfl:Well as much as any college student can be.

So for character meals I was thinking Ariel's Grotto (DCA), Goofy's Kitchen (Disneyland Hotel), Chip N' Dale Critter breakfast (Grand Californian), or Minnie and Friends breakfast (Disneyland).

I'll remember to bring sparkling cidar for myself:lmao: I feel like such a baby

That sounds like cool idea. I rarely go by BTR or BTRPZ.

Well, we did Goofy's Kitchen last time, and I've heard Ariel's wasn't that great--although it does have princesses which would make Beth happy--but my vote would be either for Chip N Dale or Minnie. Or repeat at Goofy's.

In any event I think breakfast is the best option.

Oh, so now it's all about you all that went last time. :snooty:

Ariel's? Y'all can have fun if you choose the option! Beth can have her princesses, I don't even want to glance at that place! Now let me tell you how I really feel... ;)

but my vote would be either for Chip N Dale or Minnie.

I second that!

Or repeat at Goofy's.

Oh, so you are thinking about us newbies, very good, very good.

Mmm, breakfast is such a yummy meal. :cloud9:

 I'm sorry you are stressed though. Hang in there! It will all work out. And I think the matching tees you bought sound like they will work out nicely.

Mmmm, I love pizza. I'd be up for that. My one and only concern with that is are people going to be interested in that or are they going to want to be at Disney right away. Kwim? This is why I wish we knew the hours.

I hadn't heard about the Big Thunder BBQ Dinner. That sounds like it would be fun! I hope it's open by then.

Wait, all of them?? :rotfl:

I think Chip'n'Dales and Lilo and Stitch seem to be the most popular with the best food. Or so I've heard.

Hahaha, no. I'd be bankrupt!

I like the idea of Chip'n'Dales, Lilo & Stitch, or Minnie's breakfast (mostly because it's in the park!)

I would be up for any one of these 3 as well! I have only been to GK which is great but I would like to try something new! Also Ariels holds no appeal for me so any of the other 3 would be great!

Sarah

P.S. Breakfast is my vote! And Heathers...she is sitting right here next to me!

Beth, I think this should be your new avatar

:lmao:
OMG, what is up with that Belle???? :scared:

I love breakfast and I think a breakfast character meal would be a fun way to start off one of our days.

Plus there are so many more choices for lunch/dinner that I personally don't want to do a character meal then. I really enjoyed eating at HOB last time.

I think Rainforest Cafe would be fun. Not sure how they handle large groups but I like it there.

I'm up for whatever. I'm pretty easy you know. I haven't done the chip and dale breakfast so that would be my first choice. And if given the choice, I prefer a late breakfast seating. I like to get some park time in first.

I think a pizza party one night would be fun. Trust me, I can go commando the entire time. But having one evening be a bit more relaxing might be nice. Pizza, drinks, pool time. Could be fun.

I think a couple of TS meals would be nice, but we should also plan maybe one or two CS so those who aren't looking to go broke can still enjoy a meal with everyone. Maybe meeting at an area where we could grab food from a few different places and meet up to eat together. The wharf/pier area (my mind is blank right now) at DCA would be one idea.

I could also be talked into eating off site. But I'm local, real local, so offsite isn't anything that I couldn't go to any other day. But if that's where the group wants to go, I can be in.

Okay so this week has been so crazy. First I'm off the rest of the week with is great because I need the time off :rotfl: . But the main reason is because tomorrow is Rhys's IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meeting since he's turning 3 in 8 days the state will stop providing care and our local school district will take over his care. Long story short we started him in this because of a speech delay. Well now we've had lots of home visits with speech pathologists, preschool teachers and evaluations by the same as well as a psychologist. So tomorrow all of them, dh and I will be meeting with them. The last appointment had been Monday and they mentioned that he may be diagnosed as high functioning autistic  and that they'll let us know once they 'score' his latest tests and the psychologists observations. Needless to say we're quite worried. I have mentioned this to his dr. before but he kind of made it seem that we were worrying for nothing. :headache: So keep good thoughts for my son tomorrow. I am happy no matter what because he is very healthy and happy. I just fear the unknown...KWIM?

Second I found out that I have to go to Virginia next week for work. So I get to leave this weekend. It's a short trip so that's a good thing but not really what I need right now.

Then today I found out I may have to Vegas (for work) the week after Virginia. Now not only am I not thrilled with only getting to be home for 3 days but that if this trip does occur that I won't be able to attend the mini-meet. :guilty: :sad2:  :sad1:

I won't know until next week while I'm in Virginia. I am so upset about this right now. I have been looking forward to this trip for so long.

Sheryl I know I owe you for the lei. Please PM me your address so that I can get you the money. If you can hang on to it until the next big meet I'd really appreciate it.

I'm also trying to catch up on the other posts in the thread.

As for group meals, I'm all for Goofy's Kitchen (awesome creme brulee french toast). I have eaten at Lilo & Stitch's also and I like that they offer the buffet as well as a menu. I agree we could do split meals at the Blue Bayou and they we'll have room for a cookie boat. :lmao:

steph

Oh Steph, Big hugs and pixie dust to you and DS. I sure hope you can make the mini-meet, but we all know family and work come before vacation and fun.

I would love to have a big casual dinner somewhere the first night, we are talking Thursday, right? We can all chit chat, eat and drink, yeah!popcorn:: Since we are at Hojo's, maybe Mimi's would be good. Their food is SOOO GOOD and those of us who have a few cocktails can just swagger across the street to our room.

And yes, we did Goofy's for breakfast last time, it was great. Not a lot of character interaction until we basically demanded it, but it was a fun time. I would be up for Minnie's or Storyteller's.

What day are we thinking for the Segway tour? Cause that is in the morning too, I would want the breakfast a different day than that. No BB for me, but I would think a majority of the group would like that, you guys should plan it.

The more I think about it, the more I like the thought of a kick back night around the pool or in one of the rooms, eating pizza, and just hanging out. Don't get me wrong, I love park time, but some of the best, funnest memories come from moments like that. So I think we should go ahead and plan something like that for those who are interested.

And I love your idea of meeting up at a CS place. I like doing table service meals, but they don't have to be all day, every day for me. What about the area near Rancho? I can't remember for sure, but it seemed the outdoor seating area was large and nice looking. So now we have two options for that. And if someone didn't want Mexican they could go to Riverbelle or Stage Door and grab something to bring over.

Good ideas!! Keep 'em coming!!!

Oh Steph. First of all I will definitely keep you and your son in my thoughts. I know how much we worry as parents. Hang in there and hope for the best.

As for missing the meet.......NOOOOO! I hope that doesn't happen. How ironic you'll be coming here when I won't be here. I hope it doesn't happen and you are able to still come. :wizard:
