Sorry for the late reply it's chaos time now that we are in the Christmas countdown. Yes i'm in Hawaii the island of Oahu. Please forgive me if my replys are slow just a crazy time of year around.

There's no way I'll be able to catch up from yesterday. Gawrsh, you gals get chatty!

I know there were some people asking about Christmas cookie recipies. Well, I wanted to share my mother's favorite cookie recipe with you all:

Mom's Cookie Ingredients:

1 cup of lemon juice
1 tsp baking soda 4 large eggs
1 cup of sugar 1 cup nuts
1 tsp salt 2 cups of dried fruit
1 cup of brown sugar
1 bottle Jack Daniel's Whiskey

Sample the Jack Daniel's to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the Jack Daniel's again, to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar...Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the Jack Daniel's is still OK, try another cup, just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Pick the frigging fruit off floor... Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the Jack Daniel's to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who giveshz a sheet. Check the Jack Daniel's. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of suga r, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Dack Janiels and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

CHERRY MISTMAS

Let me know if anyone decides to give these a try. :goodvibes

I might have to substitute the Jack Daniel's for something else, but this sounds like a great holiday recipe!

We are at 34 right now. This cold weather makes me so lazy! Seriously, all I want to do is........well, nothing. ;)

Hi! It's a snow day for me. I can't get to work. DBF is still stuck in Santa Clarita, sleeping :sad1: in his car.

Well On Saturday I am making cookies...I might give this a try!!!

Make roasted potatoes. Chop up some potatoes. I like to use red and rose white. Make them chunky bits. Melt butter and mix with horseraddish sauce. Add some ground pepper. Toss the butter mix with the potatoes. Put in the over until golden brown and soft. More horse raddish you use the spicier they will be.

ummmm--that sounds YUMMY! Just regular horseradish or some special kind of sauce (brand?)

YAY that means 2 months and 12 or 13 days until my birthday!!!!

Yep...Soulsister!!
I have never made prime rib..I love prime rib but I have never made it.

Honestly, you should make it--it is probably the easiest thing EVER. Just put whatever spices you want on it (salt, pepper, garlic for sure--maybe some dried rosemary, or you can buy spice mixes in the store), shove it in the oven fat side up on a rack and forget about it for a couple of hours. We like rare--so keep an eye on it with an instant read thermometer. It's amazing how much restaurants charge when it is so easy.

Miranda Priestly! hahaha If you haven't seen the Devil Wears Prada you probably won't know who I'm referring to, lol.

Yes, I've played white elephant and it's a lot of fun stealing other people's coveted presents :stir:

The Philosophy bubble bath got stolen three times and then it was "frozen"--there was only one other present that got "frozen" so I guess it was a hit!

And I guess now I'm going to have to see The Devil Wears Prada to figure out what you meant!

I just watched "Tyler's Ultimate" on the Food Network and he made an awesome looking prime rib dinner. He had a mashed potato cake thing - boiled red skin potatoes, mashed with some goodies, then put in a pan and baked in the oven until crispy - yummy! He also did roasted carrots, creamed spinach and creamed onions. I would love someone to make that for me! All the side dishes looked very easy and tasty.

Hmmm . .. . note to self--go check out the recipes on the Food Network--Tyler's Ultimate

Thanks!

One of my favorite side dishes is cabbage or cauliflaur, or even brussel sprouts augrautin, or it would be great with asparagus too. You just steam the veggi, then make a cheese sauce or I have even just thrown shredded cheese on it, then throw on some bread crumbs ( I like the garlic seasoned ones that come in a round box). Brown it up in the oven til it is toasted and bubbling. YUM!

Ohh--that sounds yummy too--thanks everyone for all the suggestions (and my family thanks you too!)

Thanks. I have been keeping on it. How about you? How did your 21 day post assessment test go? Mine went alright, it pointed out somethings that I kind of knew was going to happen. I'm trying to fix them (little by little). I end up deferring up my sharpening the saw items. What mom doesn't do that though?

steph

Steph: glad you are feeling better!

No escape this time!! LOL I wonder how Amy's doing.

They actually canceled school for tomorrow. And right now they said on the news that all flights from McCarran are canceled. What a mess. You'd think it was a blizzard or something. Guess they just aren't used to it here. LOL
Stay safe and warm!!

Can I just say I am SOOOO jealous of all of you getting snow. We just had horrendous rain yesterday--I ended up not going to meet with Stacielee at Disneyland because of the rain and work commitments--she called last night and left a message that even though they were right across the street at Hojo they didn't go to the parks yesterday either--it was just that bad. Luckily they did go the night before (and had a lovely time--I talked to her a couple of times).

Can you imagine Disneyland with REAL snow??????

I can't imagine it being so bad that Stacie didn't go to the park when she was right across the street!!!

It was REALLY ugly here yesterday--rain and wind and COLD (at least for here)

Ok I just got my packet about my surgery. Heather I have a question for you.

My surgery is not at 2:30 but 4:30! EEK! They said I could have water and fruit juices and that is it. Not even broth or jello. So my question is I DID call back the surgical consult lady and she said if I got up at 6 I COULD Have a light breakfast but I usually have a small bowl of shreaded wheat. Is that TOO much? What about oatmeal? I know like this morning I ate that and it is already 10:30 and my stomach is growling. I know when I had the barium test I drank a TON of waters like every half hour and that kept me pretty full so I am thinking maybe I should drink a bunch of those. I don't know. I just know I don't want to go into that thing with a massive migraine. Plus I have to stop taking my asprin 7 days out and I am on that daily. I guess it won't matter but now I am going to be all freaked out.

Anyway what do you think?

What would be ok to eat like an egg or something?

TIA!

No kidding! What a whimp! :lmao: My friends from Claremont drove down yesterday just so they could have fun in the rain with no crowds. They said they had a blast and even rode GRR and didn't wait more than 2 minutes to get on any ride.

Sleeping in his car?? There's no way for him to get out of Santa Clarita? Yikes!

Yep, all night. He woke up, went to Del Taco for breakfast and then went to 24 Hour Fitness to sit in the hot tup and to shower.

Yeah they closed the 14 freeway to Lancaster and the 5 North towards Frazier Park.
it's crazy!

::yes::
