Close!

My youngest niece has been with me all day, she even came to work with me.

I had to snap this shot, because this is what I look like all day at work:

Then when we came home, we made Monkey Bread!

Love the shot of Red Bull by your computer. :thumbsup2

Umm, that monkey bread picture is EVIL! I'm seriously salivating over here. Dh wants me to go to the store and get the stuff to make it -- and we just finished making pies!!!! Ugh! Sorry dear, it ain't gonna happen at 9 pm the night before Thanksgiving!:sad2:

Your niece is adorable. And that monkey bread looks soooo yummy! Now I want monkey bread too. UGH! And there is nothing here at work that can substitute for monkey bread.

How'd ya guess? Made two pumpkin and one peanut butter (my oldest dd's favorite). Also made "green stuff". It's a holiday favorite.
Green stuff? Would that be the green bean casserole? LOL
How do you make a peanut butter pie? I might have to Google that now....
Maybe I've been missing out on something yummy all these years!

That would be a big fat NO! I don't bake... that is DH's job, and he's pretty darn good at it. He made a pumpkin cheesecake for my staff potluck on Monday that was a huge hit.

But, instead of baking (since we are having Thanksgiving with 14 friends tomorrow and someone else is in charge of dessert), we are catching up on all the movies we never made it to the theater to see this summer. Last night was Tropic Thunder, which Dave loved and I thought was just alright. Tonight's early movie was Indy and TKOTCS, which was good but I can't picture watching it over and over again like the older Indy movies. The late movie tonight will be Get Smart, which I am looking forward to, but don't have too high of expectations for. And then tomorrow I think we'll watch Wall-E after the parade but before we have to be at our friend's house.

Have a wonderful holiday everyone and enjoy the shopping deals of Friday!
That's nice your DH bakes for you! I love to bake, however not pies. I almost stopped at the Cheesecake Factory while I was out today for a slice of pumpkin cheesecake to go. But I was good and resisted. Especially since I'll be eating pumpkin pie tomorrow.

Sounds like you are going to be having a fun Thanksgiving! I miss being in MI and hosting the meal. I'd cook for at least 20 people and it was so fun. Now it's just the six of us. Which is fine, but so small in comparison.

We watched Tropic Thunder with my mom when she was here. OMG, that was a mistake!!!
Wall-E is a great movie. You'll love it. It's on my Christmas list for the kids.

Have a good Thanksgiving!

Nope, some of us are working. Would much rather be baking pies though.
Awww, that's no fun. Sorry. Are you cooking/baking tomorrow?
Since Ruben works until 5:30, we won't be eating until late, so I have all day long tomorrow to spend in the kitchen.

Wendy, your neice is too cute!!! Love her apron set.
Where do you work?

And that monkey bread looks delicious! Where's mine? I'm waiting.......

Green stuff? Would that be the green bean casserole? LOL

Green stuff is actually a jello side dish that the whole family always insists that I make. It's a tub of cool whip, tub of cottage cheese, can of crushed pineapple, and 1 package of lime jello. Stir it all together, let it sit in the fridge overnight and voila -- I'm a chef! :rotfl:

There are several peanut butter pie recipes out there, but the one my dd loves is from a homeschool activity we just did on elections. We did recipes from the White House for a co-op party, and we made Jimmy Carter's Peanut Butter Pie:

Back in l977, when Jimmy Carter was President, Rosalyn Carter made a bunch of PBPs. Here is the recipe for you...

Baked 9-Inch Pie Shell

Bottom Layer:

1 Cup Powdered Sugar

1 1/2 Cups Smooth Peanut Butter

Filling:

1/2 Cup Sugar

1/4 Cup Cornstarch

2 Cups Milk

2 Tablespoons Butter

3 Egg Yolks

1 Teaspoon Vanilla

Meringue:

3 Egg Whites

4 Teaspoons Sugar

Prepare filling: Mix dry ingredients. Add milk and egg yolks. cook over low heat, stirring constantly unti thick. Add butter and vanilla. Set aside. Mix bottom layer ingredients well. Put about 2/3 of it in the bottom of pie shell. Prepare meringue by whipping egg whites and adding sugar gradually. Pour filling on top of bottom layer. Top with meringue. Sprinkle reserved peanut butter mixture on top of meringue. Bake at 325 degrees until light brown - about l0 minutes.

No. I won't be cooking/baking this year. With school, work and everything else, I am just not up to it. And my doc wants me to cut out things that are too stressful and such. Plus I work tonight and on Friday. Why would I want to spend my day off cleaning my house, cooking, then cleaning again?? I decided not to have Thanksgiving this year and declined invitations to go elsewhere. Instead, I will be taking my mother and my DD to Ralph Brennen's Jazz Kitchen for dinner. We plan to see Bolt before that.

Having dinner with just the 6 of you must be nice though. Gives you guys a chance to just be together and not have total craziness can be nice.

Callie, thanks for the recipe! I love peanut butter and that sounds yummy.
The green stuff sounds.....interesting. LOL You had me up until the tub of cottage cheese. :rolleyes1 But it does sound simple, and anything easy is always a winner in my book! :thumbsup2

Stacie, good for you! You are so busy, you deserve to enjoy your holiday rather then rush around like mad. Your plans actually sound really nice! Have a good time. The bread pudding there is soooo good. And Bolt seems like a nice choice for a family movie. :)

I think we should put all the ride weenies in one log on Splash (yes, me included)--can't wait to see THAT picture.

Yeah, right!

And the pic from the ride on Splash will look like all mine look. Me ducking down and trying to cover my face and hair as much as possible. Just with a whole log of us doing that. :)

That's exactly what I was thinking! It would look like no one was in the log, except Beth ...

:lmao: That's a great idea. My pic is always the same on Splash, long hair flying back, mouth wide open screaming. But I love it! :yay:

Would you believe I have never seen a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving? :rolleyes1

What do you mean you've never seen a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving?!? :sad2: :sad2: I don't think you're an American :hippie: Have you at least seen a Charlie Brown Christmas?

I'll ride in the ride-weenie log, BUT I'm claiming a middle seat now. I want someone to lean one, and someone behind me to catch me when I pass out. :scared1: :scared:

See, that wasn't so hard to do... now I guess I might have to ride it as well! Didn't someone say they would bring me a poncho? NOT that ugly plastic hat thing!!

How'd ya guess? Made two pumpkin and one peanut butter (my oldest dd's favorite). Also made "green stuff". It's a holiday favorite.

I was going to ask what the green stuff is, since I've seen it twice now...

Your niece is so cute!!! And the Monkey Bread made me want to lick the screen!!

I know what you mean, it's not hard to impress people. I made Chocolate Raspberry Cream Cheese fudge a couple of months ago just because I felt like it and everyone was saying how good it was. Talk about an easy recipe: one can of frosting and one bag of chocolate chips; melt in the microwave, mix together, pour in a pan, refrigerate until firm. I had chocolate raspberry chips and cream cheese frosting. It was really good. You can mix together any 2 flavors. I want to try peanut butter chips and chocolate frosting next. YUMMY!!

Ok, green stuff scares me.

I am gonna have to try this out. I make fudge the old fashion way over the stove and all. This is way easier.

It should be against the law to work the two days before a major holiday.

I've been sooo busy. I think I have things in order for tomorrow. Dinner is not until 4pm, so I should be good.

How was the monkey bread Wendy? It looks great! Mine looks like a volcano when I make it in my monkey bread mold. I should take a pic of it for you. It's wild looking!

Molly, the monkey bread kit sounds interesting. Do you have to make your own dough though? That's the part that stops me cold. I like my recipe because it's basically 5 ingredients shoved together, and uses premade biscuits! If the kit doesn't require kneading dough, then I'll have to look into it!

I've never seen the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and honestly this is the first time I've ever heard of it. Also, it seems VERY suspicious that you all are talking about it, but it just happens to have only been shown once, and darn it, I missed it. :rolleyes1 I am wondering if this show was produced by the monkey bride? ;) :rolleyes1

Oh, and about the Celebration BBQ I mentioned. I forgot I'm on the VIP list now! Also, who knows if it will even be running when we go. I hope so...maybe we can catch it for dinner in case Carnation Cafe doesn't work out. I wonder if our Plaid on the tour could help us get enough spots for everybody if we did that?

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

Cristabel, I love the little countdown tags in your sig. Those are like the one Katie had. So cute!! I might have to steal that idea for my sig once I get rid of this huge turkey.

Heather, I'm going to try making the monkey bread for Christmas morning. OR maybe Christmas Eve since I usually make the Crystal Palace breakfast lasagna on Christmas morning. Ruben and Adam LOVE that stuff!! LOL

Hmmmm, with all this talk of jello, pies, monkey bread, cheesecake, fudge, etc. does anyone else feel like they gained 2 lbs just by reading the last few posts?? :rotfl2:

YOUVE NEVER SEEN CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS?'?

BETHHHH
YOU HAVE SOME 'SPAININ TO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

No seriously, they show it on ABC. Or you can get them from the library. The humor is pretty adult but it's not inappropriate, just complicated language. :laughing:I still love it.

Yeah, either from the posts or from the pizza we had delivered here tonight.

I didn't pick it up. Either E was trying to run rampant OR it had something he can't have in it, I don't remember. I made the HUGE mistake of trying to bop into JoAnn Fabric after being at Cost Plus, and E's craziness obliterated almost all thoughts of CP from my head! Let's just say...4 y.o. boys shouldn't be allowed, by their silly mothers, to bring light sabers into a place with lots of things hanging on racks (picture running a stick along a picket fence). :headache:

I think you said you haven't been to DLR yet right? Remember, at DL's Splash, there are seat backs between each person if you get in correctly. So even if everyone scrams out of the log, you'll have the seatback to hold you up and the front seatback to grab onto. :)

OMG, I love to snuggle in the rain. After I came back inside this morning, I opened my bedroom window and woke Ruben up so we could snuggle in the cold. :lovestruc

Would you believe I have never seen a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving? :rolleyes1

Whole lotta cuddling to do up here in WA for ya.

I"m starting to wonder if you ever watch TV at all???? Picture me with my eyebrow raised (like The Rock only not manly and yummy as he is), suspicious look in my eyes....:rolleyes1

I probably did when I was a kid, but I don't remember it. I know the saying "a Charlie Brown Christmas tree" but I don't really remember the movie or what that means, other then a pitiful tree.

Yeah, either from the posts or from the pizza we had delivered here tonight.
:rotfl: Yeah, pizza tends to do that. Unfortunately I love pizza!

Hmmm, I think if I moved to WA I'd never make it out of bed then. :rotfl2:

I watch plenty of tv, trust me. My kids just never got into the Peanuts characters, they never watched Sesame Street, and I couldn't even begin to name the Muppets beyong Kermit or Miss Piggy.

We did shows such as The Wiggles, Bear in the Big Blue House, Blues Clues and the like. I had a semi crush on Steve just from watching the darn show so much!

When DD was younger we watched Blues Clues, Big Comfy Couch and Bananas in Pajamas. I have to admit, Steve was a cutie. In a geeky sorta way. Other than that, we didn't watch too many kiddie shows. As she got older, she got into Pokemon. UGH!
