I don't know if any of you read Kevin Yee on Miceage.com, but he recently had a haiku contest that I entered. Not only was I chosen as one the 10 finalists that he published today, but I was also chosen as one of the three randomly generated winners from the finalists list. So, I won a copy of the Lee Cockrell book.

I submitted 8 entries and I had one that I thought was a surefire winner. Yet, the truly funny thing is that the one that I wrote as a joke for DH, was the one that Kevin picked :rotfl2:

The Muppets show has been a long time favorite in our family, and we especially love Sam the Eagle in it. Last year I made him a t-shirt on zazzle with Sam on the front and a quote from the show on the back. And, as I was trying to write some serious and winning haikus (I like contests, can you tell?;) ), I whipped up the following:

Sam the Eagle leads
a salute to all nations
but mostly our own

Anyway, if you would like to see the whole list, the link is: http://miceage.micechat.com/kevinyee/ky112008c.htm

Ok, I'll wait since you are probably still getting PMs and people are still posting about it, and then I'll add it to the front. :thumbsup2

Why do you always have to tell people about my PMS, mom!?

Hey ladies!

On Saturday morning, after the delicious Chip n Dale breakfast and before the awesome "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour, we are going to meet up at 10:30 am and do a scavenger hunt!

This scavenger hunt will be for everyone, meaning that we wont ask questions that involve tons of brainpower or Disneyland knowledge! It will be a lot of fun and you'll learn something new and see the park in a different light.

The scavenger hunt will be Disneyland specific, so you wont be running around both parks and through Downtown Disney. It will be time friendly so you can fit in all the fun activities you want to do that day. :goodvibes

What you can expect to collect through your hunt will include collecting specific objects, taking pictures of different things and looking for details that you might not know exist (like the existence of a certain monkey bride :bride: ). We will provide each team with what they will need for the hunt.

The best part about the hunt: Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!!! :woohoo: The prizes will be awesome and if I could play, I would just to get a prize, but I can't, so you all need to play for me!

If you would like to join us, you can post here on the board or PM myself, Dawn (fairykin) or Melody (tinkermell).

oooh oooh--can I play?

That's so cool. Congrats Jane!

Well dear, I have to explain your behavior somehow now don't I?

Does the monkey bride exist?
NO!

Here's a "spoiler" for you, my friends!

Here are some pictures of the newly refurbished IASW.

There aren't many photos but it looks pretty much the same but BRAND NEW.

I'm excited to ride it in 13 days!
Oh cool. I'm going to check out that link. Thanks.

yes, in your mind!
:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

yes, in your mind!

Then I guess in my mind you can do the scavenger hunt!

That's very true.

If by "no" you mean "yes", then you would be right. ;)

In other news:
I got my car back today (it got towed yesterday). The bill was $1,000. :scared1: :faint: I don't even make that much in a month. That's why I wanted to cancel my January Disneyland trip. My grandma loaned me the money, and I'm forever grateful for that! My mom is determined to make my January trip happen, even though she was mad at me for planning another trip without her. :rotfl:

It's hot :headache:
I want to move to Forks, Washington :lmao:

But srsly, I hate the sun right now. Only in California (& Vegas & Arizona) will you start sweating while walking up a hill IN NOVEMBER.

Heck, you don't even have to be walking up a hill.

10.5 hours until I get to see Edward on the big screen!!! I still don't think the guy they chose to play him is cute though...oh well. I love Edward! :lovestruc

A $1,000???? OMG. That sucks. I am so sorry.
How sweet of your mom to still want you to go in January.

I wouldn't want to move to Forks, even with as much as I love the rain. The book has made it too big of a tourist trap now. Not that I don't already live in a touristy place, lol, but Forks seems to little to have all those people trekking there.

And as for heat, we broke records this week. Monday and Tuesday we were in the 80's.

I just checked the weather and I'm supposed to get rain all of next week!:cool1: :dance3:
Lucky!

I can't wait to hear what you think of the movie!! popcorn::

I may have to pop over there tomorrow and check it out.
I looked at the pics Cristabel posted and honestly I didn't notice any difference. It appears to have been painted, the boats look new, but not the ride. Guess I'm just not seeing it. I thought they were adding new things.

OK, You all are killing me! I have not read the books. I am tempted, but afraid I will get addicted. But, I was raised in Port Angeles, WA, which is several hours due east from Forks. The only think we ever thought was out in Forks was loggers, and fishermen and a bunch of inbreds. So all the hoopla is pretty darn funny. My Mom still lives there, and she says the local Italian Restaurant which some place in the book is based on, is serving a special dinner, and that they are selling custom fangs and having all sorts of events for the big opening. There is no Disney Store in Forks, I can tell you that!! Well, hope the movie is all that you are dreaming it will be. Feel free to come up an visit anytime. It is almost always raining.

Well, now you can add vampires to the list of loggers, fishermen, and inbreds. :rotfl2:

I might come visit you sometime if you can promise me some rain!!

The holiday overlay is pretty much blocking some of the new stuff but the americana scene and som other one (not sure which) is hidden because it's not done yet.

I don't mind that it's just fresh paint, it srsly needed it. Now it looks So pretty.

I see. Well maybe when the holiday stuff is down and it's fully completed then we'll see more of a difference.

I agree it looks nicer with the fresh paint. I just thought that after an entire year of waiting, we'd see something more impressive. :rotfl:

Funny you should say that, one of the main areas we are looking to build our new house is near Forks, WA. Yes, I really hate the sun that much. :headache:

Ok the bathtub is calling my name. It's been a pretty rotten day for me so far. . .
