Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

We are going to DL this weekend! We made reservations at DLH for Sat. night and as of right now it will only be DBF and myself, no kids. ;) I told DBF he could join us but if he is the only guy then he'll probably change his mind. I cannot wait to meet you all! Please let me know if the time and place changes. I'll PM a few of you my cell phone just in case you need it or plans change.

Vicki, I am so excited to meet you - and please do bring DBF! We will see you Sat at 9 pm.:)

Are we thinking Ariel's on Thursday for those who come early like last time? And then a whole group (or as many as we can) character meal Sat? I want to do both :goodvibes Storyteller's worked out great, I loved how we had our own "wing" kindof. As much as I love Cafe Orleans, I felt we were really squished in there last Oct for the mini-meet and we only 17. I agree that Rancho would be perfect for a lunch or dinner, too because of all the open seating. And their food is pretty good. And people can share and/or split meals.

It's above San Roque canyon, which is above my future home, but I'm praying for everyone else! That's so scary!

ps. Is Paula SERIOUSLY lip synching on AI right now?!

On topic, I like those character meal options. Let's poll away!

Off topic, Bridgette, I don't know if you know since you do live in CA, but there is a huge fire in Santa Barbara right now. Houses are burning down and everything. :sad2: I can see the smoke right now from my house. So sad, I hope everyone over there is okay.

Courtney, I hope you are far away and safe!
It's all over the news here, too. A lot of homes appear to have been burned down. So sad. And it is hot here today, it was 90 when I got home at 5 pm.

Oh no! How awful..do you know if it is anywhere near the Mission? In another lifetime I was a Poor Clare and know the nuns in the monastery near the Mission. The Poor Clares are on 215 E Los Olivos St.

Keeping everyone who is in harm's way, very near in heart and prayer.

OMG no not yet! WHERE WHAT PART?! I'm moving to the northern part off the 101 at Hope Ranch. I want to say exit 112? Does that sound right? That is so sad I hope no people or animals are hurt!

Here is a map of the fire. Bridgette, Westmont College is a little near by there. Well on the map, I'm not sure how close it is in real life.

Christine, I can't find Los Olivos on the map. But there is Mission Canyon Rd. I'm not sure how close/far that is from the mission. I've been to the mission several times, but not sure about where it is in SB.

Here's a link to the news article.

That's what my Dad just said too, that it's above where the Hope Ranch area is.

We're all fine. Thank you, Linda! We're about 30 minutes or less from Santa Barbara. We can see a ton of smoke from my house though. On my way home I take the 101 NB and I could see the smoke coming from the hills over there. Scary stuff.

This is WAAAAY if topic, but I was wondering if there are any Divas within my genre (or otherwise) that want to go to the No Doubt/Paramore concert with me in Irvine this summer? I'm DYING to go and I'll probably end up going alone. No Doubt was just on AI that's why I just thought of it and the tour comes to Indianapolis on the day I start school in California. Ironic.

Hi everyone.

Sorry I haven't checked in for a few days. Nothing wrong or anything, I've just been busy with school. Did anyone miss me? ;)

I'm lovin' all the planning going on! I'm getting excited! :yay::woohoo::yay:

Thank you Courtney for being so thoughtful and looking out for all of us! I really appreciate it

Oh no! I just heard on the news that it is near the mission area. I was just there in February. Very scary and hopefully they won't loose the mission that is a structure that cannot be replaced. It is so sad to see it burning, Santa Barbara is one of my favorite places...it's so difficult to watch. I had just moved here last year when we had wildfires all around us and one that came over the hills into Simi but luckily they were able to stop it at the open space area. I feel so bad for all of those people who live in the area and I hope there is no loss of life!

I do like some of No Doubt's songs as well as Paramore but I've heard Paramore sing live.... :sad2:... sorry though.

Thank goodness you are safe.

We lived in Oxnard when I was a kid :) Are you north or south of SB?

:wave2: Yes!

Oh No! I hope not I just visited the SB Mission and got some beautiful photos. What a piece of history. I feel like from what I've learned that the Mission is south of the fire? I could be wrong though.

Of course!!! I love alllll the Divas! :grouphug:

Santa Barbara is beautiful. I always wanted (and still do) to get married in that mission. I was just thinking about the fire that was near Simi, I think that was the one (there have been so many in this area within the last year) where the smoke over here was just terrible.

Glad you are safe and I hope any family that you have living there are safe as well. Last fall when the fires were in Porter Ranch I remember the billowing smoke over the hills and how close it looked to our house so I can imagine what kind of smoke you are experiencing.
:goodvibes
