Morning ladies!

Cristabel I am so sorry for your car trouble! That really stinks! I had an older van for awhile when the kids were small and it seemed like every other day somethng was going wrong. And would you believe I have ALREADY had to replace the battery in my camry and it is an 06!! I hope you can get your's fixed for not too much and I agree with the girls get it tested. I couldn't BELIEVE my brand new car's was bad but I had mine tested and YUP it was bad. Go figure! And I hope at least YOU get to see HP! It looks like we aren't going to get to go AGAIN! Shelby woke up sick this morning. :( Have fun if you go and let me know how it is! :)

Steph good luck with your surgery!! I don't envy you there being that I am still having a heck of a time myself but I am sure you will do just fine! I am at least getting around a bit better after 2 weeks but I just wish I was feeling better. But I think with yours it shouldn't be too bad at all! Will be thinking of you!!

And Bridgette my friend I didn't want to say it before in my other post but I totally agree with the other gals. Everything you posted just doesn't sound right. I know you think you are in love and I know that it is possible to fall very quickly but PLEASE PLEASE be careful. Things just don't sound right! BE CAREFUL!! IF it is meant to be then things will work out but there are a lot of things that just don't sound good. We all care about you and don't want you to get hurt!

Well as far as me now that Shelby is sick it doesn't look like I will be doing much of anything this weekend. Here "I" finally thought I was well enough to venture out and now SHE is sick. Go figure. My kids NEVER get sick either. Someone doesn't want me to see this movie LOL! I am about to run out and return our videos and go feed mom's cats and then I guess it is just laying on the old couch and watching the **** tube.

Oh well at least it will be chillaxing! :)

Have fun all!

are you there on the 19th? if so you need to stop in and say hi at the mini-meet!

Hi everyone!

(thanks Cheryl for the report on the mini meet!)

Hope everyone is having a relaxing day resting if they're sick, having some fun if healthy. Do something you enjoy, reading a good book or listening to your favorite music and dance with nobody watching!:dance3:

Hey girls! Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Last night we went to a Dodger game, and even though the game was borrring, we had a lot of fun! I have some pictures, I'll post them when I don't feel lazy and I go get my camera.

Thank you to everyone for the hugs. My Mom is taking it a lot better than I had thought. I think what she's real upset about is that yesterday was her scheduled day off and HR called her to lay her off. So she didn't get to say goodbye to any of her friend/coworkers.

Awe Courtney - when it rains it pours but it also opens up the possiblity for a something new and fresh...just like after a great rain storm! Here's hugs, good thoughts and lots of prayers for you mom in her job search and to you and your dad too! :hug:What is your mom looking for job wise?

Thank you, Vicki! :goodvibes My Mom does Accounts Payable. Before yesterday she was called for 2 jobs, but after submitting her resume, she never got calls back. :confused3 So she's still looking!

Oh Courtney.. that is just awful.. i am so sorry for Your mom. I know how much you help them..and i just wish i could give you a big tight hug. I will pray for Your family. :guilty:

Thank you so much, Dawn. We appreciate the prayers and the hugs.

Hello ladies. I read back but don't have the strength to type out all I want to say, so a hug will have to do for those who need it. And thanks for all the thoughts for my Grandma. No news on her today yet.

I'm sick. The girls finally gave me their cold. I feel like crud. Off to bed. SEe ya later.

Feel better, Beth! :flower3:

Oh no, Courtney! I sure hope she can find something soon. Can she at least collect unemployment for now, while she's looking?

Thank you, Tina! :goodvibes Yes, she can. That's why I think she's not so bummed. She was wanting to leave anyways, but hasn't been able to find a new job. So at least now she'll have some kind of income until she does find a job.

Anyway I wanted to say to Courtney I am SO very sorry to hear this about your mom. I know how much you all have been struggling and I will keep you all in my prayers and many many big ((hugs)) to you guys!!!!

Thank you, Kelly. Thank you for praying for us!

Prayers for your family! I understand what you're going through! My DH got laid off after 10 years back in June. He had 3 interviews over the past 2 weeks and found out yesterday that he didn't get any of them! One of them we were so sure he would get so it was a real blow to his confidence. Hugs to all of you out there going through similar trials.

Thank you, Sarah. It's just terrible about his job situation. Big hugs to you and your DH too. I hope he finds somewhere soon.

Courtney- Your mom is in my prayers that she finds unemployment quickly. It sucks to be laid off. I haven't worked in over 8 months & I starting to feel hopeless :guilty:.

Thank you, Katie! Big hugs to you too. I'll be saying my prayers for you.

 I hope everything starts getting better for you and your family very soon.

Thank you so much, Steph! And good luck on your surgery!

Courtney - sorry about your mom losing her job.

Thank you, Stacie! :goodvibes

:wizard: Courtney, I'm so sorry to hear this. Your poor mom.

Thank you so much.

:wave2: Hi Donna

I have a growth on the outer/lower portion of my right ankle. The doc isn't sure what it is. He thinks it's a ganglion cyst but won't be sure until he's operating. It's not showing up on x-rays but is clearly visible. Also you can feel it. Whatever it is, it's sitting on top of a nerve. So every step I take I have a radiating pain in my foot.

Anyway with its location I'll be on crutches for about 4 weeks. The doc is afraid that everytime I take a step w/o crutches I run the risk of opening the stitches and/or prolonging the healing of the incision.

steph

Steph, my Mom had this EXACT thing on her right ankle. She had surgery this past July. Her's was sitting on top of her artery in her ankle. Her surgery went fine, took about 2 hours. She tried to be super mom and do everything afterwards and prolonged taking 2 stitches out another week. So just remember to relax and stay off your feet. Her foot feels a millions time better now that it's healed and that cyst isn't in there anymore. I hope your surgery goes well! :goodvibes

Courtney - I'm sorry about your mom losing her job. This on top of the storage dilemma is a lot to handle. I hope she finds work soon.

Thank you, Cristabel! I hope the drama with your car battery gets fixed soon.

Katie, Courtney, Bridgett, and Cristabel: I am thinking about you gals and sending some pixie dust your way so that you will either have a shift in your troubles or at least the strength to get through them.

Thank you so much Tracey. :flower3:

I'm such a dork! I just noticed that I put "unemployment" instead of "employment". I hope you knew what I meant Courtney. That's what I get for trying to type when my brain is frazzled .

:lmao: I know what you meant! I didn't even realize it until you posted this!

Good afternoon Divas,
I'm here at home and enjoying my time. This is the first night since I started school that I didn't wake up in the middle of the night hot and sweaty. My parents originally told me it was nerves but it's been two weeks and it's constantly happening. My dad told me it's probably because the bed at school is mostly plastic. OHHHHH, that makes sense now. I'm thinking about switching out the cheapo mattress from school with the one I have at home. Plus, having an air conditioner directly in my room doesn't hurt either ;)

Have a wonderful long weekend! I'm off to eat lunch and spend time with my mom and Anais before my dad gets home and we have to deal with my car issues.

Just checking in. Ruben let me sleep in until 11 and then made me brunch. I'm all doped up on meds now and feeling a bit better.

Cheryl, sounds like the meet was really nice.

Cristabel, glad you are enjoying your relaxing time at home.

Courtney, best of luck to your mom. She will find something, I know it.

Steph, I'll be thinking of you and your upcoming surgery. Take care of yourself after. And I say go to DL for your birthday!!!! Even if it's packed, it's just nice to walk around and take in the sights of Christmas.

Lisa, good to see you. Glad you'll be able to make the mini meet in September.

Kelly, I'm sorry Shelby is sick!

I hope I didn't miss anyone, but if I did, hugs to you and have a great day!! :grouphug: :wizard: :goodvibes

Good evening, morning and Good night!
We surprised Tyrae with a little birthday party tonight. His family didn't do anything for him :sad2: We had a delicious dinner and boston creme pie! YUMMY! I can't wait to have some more tomorrow ;)

Bought my new car battery because my old one was officially retired. It only cost $65! :thumbsup2 I went to return a t-shirt at Lane Bryant and ended up buying an additional blouse  I bought two pairs of new work out shorts! :yay:

We're probably going to see District 9 tomorrow.
See ya!

Morning all!

Congrats Cristabel on scoring a good deal on the battery!

Beth hope you are feeling better. And thanks about Shelby. I think she might have given it to ME now. As if I needed one more thing LOL. Shane and I were thinking that maybe she got it from Chuck E Cheese cuz I am SURE that place is a germfest but then I remembered that her teacher was out sick with a fever on Wed (back to school night) and that's why she had to cancel. SOOOO now I'm thinking she might have gotten it from her! She had a fever yesterday etc. I think she is feeling a little better today cuz she sounded a little better this morning so we shall see but I know we are going to keep her home from church so I don't know if Lynn and Katy will go or not.

We need to run to the grocery store today and my car is on fumes and of course mom's cats need to be fed but otherwise I think it is more of just chilling at home today.

Hope everyone else has something fun planned for today!

I am just hoping I feel better for tomorrow so MAYBE mom, Katy and I can FINALLY go see Julia and Julia!

TTYL

Hi all! So yesterday was my first day off in 13 days and I went to an outdoor wedding. Luckily the rain held off till after the ceremony and they did have a covered area! It was very nice, if a bit chilly! I also started packing for my Disney trip! It is a lot more difficult to pack for 4 than it is for 1 or 2...goodness. I mentioned that to my grandmother and she said "no kidding, try packing for 7!" :scared1: I can't even imagine. To those of you with large families :worship:.

TTYL,
Sarah

Morning ladies! I left out the "good" part because I am not having a good morning thus far. We woke up to a broken water heater and a flooded garage. :sad2:

I swear if it's not one thing, it's another. First a broken van, then sick kids, then my Grandma in the hospital, now this. And I'm still feeling sick and worn down myself so this is all just a bit much for me right now. :(

Anyway, don't mean to come here and be a downer! Sorry about that.

Hopefully everyone is having a better weekend than I am.
Jen's got her race today!! Go Jen!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: We are all rooting for ya!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Sarah, good luck packing. I pack for 6, and no, it's not easy! LOL But it's exciting knowing you are packing for such a fun time. :wizard:

Kelly, take care, and don't you get sick too!!!

Cristabel, have fun at the movies today. popcorn::

And to the rest of you Divas:

I'm thinking about switching out the cheapo mattress from school with the one I have at home. Plus, having an air conditioner directly in my room doesn't hurt either ;)

the other thing that could potentially help is to get a thick mattress pad that would keep your body heat from the "plastic"

sending you good thoughts that your Grandma gets better, you get healthy, the kids get and stay healthy, Ruben doesn't get sick and the water heater gets fixed. I keep expecting my water heater to go at any time!

Ok Divas--I made the yummiest thing yesterday that was SOOOOO good that I just had to share. Years ago I ate at this restaurant in Newport Beach called Pascal and the potatoes accompanying the entree were to die for. I swore they had cheese or something in them--there were these little bits of yumminess between the potatoes.

Yesterday on a whim I went online and did a search for Pascal Potatoes and found a recipe!!! Yay!!!

This was SO easy and so good!

Butter for greasing baking dish
1 garlic clove, minced
4 large russet (baking) potatoes (2 1/2 lb total)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups heavy cream

Put oven rack in upper third of oven and preheat oven to 375°F. Butter a 13- by 9-inch glass baking dish.

Scatter garlic in bottom of baking dish. Peel potatoes and cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices. Layer potatoes in dish, sprinkling each layer with some of salt and pepper, then pour cream over potatoes. Bake, gently tamping potatoes down occasionally, until tender and top is golden brown (cream will be slightly thickened), about 45 minutes.

Tips from Cheryl--4-5 pounds of potatoes was more than we could eat--I used red potatoes because I had them on hand and probably just a couple of pounds and an 8 x 8 dish. I also put garlic in the bottom AND on top (I like garlic). I have this huge jar of minced garlic from Costco so it's easy to use.

Next time I am going to put chopped chives in too.

Oh Beth I am so sorry! When it rains it pours eh? ((hugs))

And thanks I don't know if I am getting her sickies or what. I didn't sleep at ALL last night cuz I had that all over achy feeling and my head was stuffed up but I feel a LITTLE better today but who knows. At least I don't seem to have her fever or sore throat (majorly knocking on wood). So hopefully it goes away! And she says her throat still hurts but she seems better today. Not so lethargic! So that is good. I swear now everytime one of us gets sick I worry about stupid swine flu! UGH!

Anyway hope things start to look up for you quick!!

And Cheryl that sounds YUM!!! Drool! ;)

Well I was hoping Shane would do the errands for me since I didn't feel that hot but he is not looking like he is planning on moving ANY time soon so I guess I am going to have to do it. I need gas too cuz I am on fumes. UGH!

See yall later!

Hey girls! Hope everyone had a great Sunday. Is anyone else super excited we don't have school/work tomorrow? Heck yes! I am!!

Cristabel, how awesome you got a battery so cheap! Hope you had fun at the movies.

Beth, how sweet of Ruben to make you brunch. I hope you feel better soon. And I'm sorry about the water heater. What a bummer.

Kelly, I hope you don't get sick anymore than you feel. Lots of get well pixie dust to you.

Sarah, how exciting packing for your DL trip! It's coming up soon!

Cheryl, my Mom makes those exact potatoes. Except I don't know if she adds garlic?? But I love how the heavy cream gets all brown on the top when you bake it. YUM!!!

I'm going to upload my pictures from the Dodgers game right now to share with you all. Be back in a bit!

Okay! Time for pictures!

Here's my Mom, Me, and DBF Jesus. My Dad took the pic and that's why he's not in it!

Oh Beth, you have posted a gazillion happy, good posts. I think you've earned many, many downer posts (not that we want you to have them though). This is too much stuff and especially when you are sick.

First priority is to restore your health. Thank goodness you have Ruben to deal with most of this. That is so horrible to have this happen (I remember, it happened to us, too), especially now. I'm coming on late, so hopefully you are back in bed, resting, watching tv (and I mean really watching tv) or reading a good book.

Courtney, adorable pics of your mom and bf. Glad you had a fun day!
I'm going to check and see if Jen's scores are posted anywhere...
Divas, take good care of yourselves!

sending you good thoughts that your Grandma gets better, you get healthy, the kids get and stay healthy, Ruben doesn't get sick and the water heater gets fixed. I keep expecting my water heater to go at any time!
Thanks Cheryl!! I hope your water heater doesn't break the way ours did! If you are expecting it to go, better make sure you don't have card board boxes full of stuff near it like we did. :rolleyes1

Actually, it wasn't all that bad. We had some things get wet, but nothing was ruined. Thank goodness. Just a pain to clean up.

YUM!! I love potatoes. I'm too tired to think about cooking though. Don't suppose you wanna come make me some?? :yay:

Oh Beth I am so sorry! When it rains it pours eh? ((hugs))
Usually. ;)

Okay! Time for pictures!
Awesome pics! Looks like fun. Thanks for sharing!

I'm coming on late, so hopefully you are back in bed, resting, watching tv (and I mean really watching tv) or reading a good book.
I wish! No resting today. I spent the whole day helping Ruben. He did most of the work, but I did what I could. Then had some errands to run, and to top it off did some cleaning.

The good news is, our garage had never looked better!!! LOL It needed to be cleaned and organized but odds are we never would have gotten around to it. This sort of forced us to get moving. And now it's organized top to bottom. :thumbsup2

I'm tired but it feels good to have it done, and the house cleaned, and the fridge restocked. OH!!! And the best news, my Grandma is home. She was released last night. And today she was already out shopping yard sales with my aunt. :rotfl2: That's my Grandma for ya!!!
Thanks everyone for the well wishes for her. :flower3:
