What a quiet day it was here. I'm hoping that means everyone was out having fun.

Those who are off work and/or school tomorrow, enjoy it!!

I'm going to take some NyQuil and go watch a Very Brady Movie on TBS. Cracks me up. :hippie: Night ladies!!

Ok Divas--I made the yummiest thing yesterday that was SOOOOO good that I just had to share. Years ago I ate at this restaurant in Newport Beach called Pascal and the potatoes accompanying the entree were to die for. I swore they had cheese or something in them--there were these little bits of yumminess between the potatoes.

Yesterday on a whim I went online and did a search for Pascal Potatoes and found a recipe!!! Yay!!!

This was SO easy and so good!

Butter for greasing baking dish
1 garlic clove, minced
4 large russet (baking) potatoes (2 1/2 lb total)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups heavy cream

Put oven rack in upper third of oven and preheat oven to 375°F. Butter a 13- by 9-inch glass baking dish.

Scatter garlic in bottom of baking dish. Peel potatoes and cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices. Layer potatoes in dish, sprinkling each layer with some of salt and pepper, then pour cream over potatoes. Bake, gently tamping potatoes down occasionally, until tender and top is golden brown (cream will be slightly thickened), about 45 minutes.

Tips from Cheryl--4-5 pounds of potatoes was more than we could eat--I used red potatoes because I had them on hand and probably just a couple of pounds and an 8 x 8 dish. I also put garlic in the bottom AND on top (I like garlic). I have this huge jar of minced garlic from Costco so it's easy to use.

Next time I am going to put chopped chives in too.

Thaks for the recipe. It looks so yummy!

Okay! Time for pictures!

Here's my Mom, Me, and DBF Jesus. My Dad took the pic and that's why he's not in it!

Cute pictures, Courtney! Thanks for sharing.

OH!!! And the best news, my Grandma is home. She was released last night. And today she was already out shopping yard sales with my aunt. :rotfl2: That's my Grandma for ya!!!
Thanks everyone for the well wishes for her. :flower3:

Thank goodness!

Jesus and I.
You guys make such a cute couple!

The good news is, our garage had never looked better!!! LOL It needed to be cleaned and organized but odds are we never would have gotten around to it. This sort of forced us to get moving. And now it's organized top to bottom. :thumbsup2

I'm tired but it feels good to have it done, and the house cleaned, and the fridge restocked. OH!!! And the best news, my Grandma is home. She was released last night. And today she was already out shopping yard sales with my aunt. :rotfl2: That's my Grandma for ya!!!
Thanks everyone for the well wishes for her. :flower3:

I'll make you potatoes if you come re-organize my garage. That's an even trade, don'tcha think?

And Yay for Grandma!

As for me--I met Sleepless Knight at DL (Goofy's Kitchen) for brunch--we closed the place down (well at least when they close down for the break until dinner--LOL--they actually were vacuuming next to us! The food was ok, but honestly it is nothing to write home about. AND just like on the Diva trip we were there almost an hour and NO CHARACTERS. Then we mentioned something to our waiter and we got several--Cinderella, Jasmine, Chip, Dale, Goofy, Pluto --the only one I saw that didn't come to our table was Baloo. Then I went grocery shopping and just finished prepping stuff for a BBQ I'm having tomorrow--(salmon burgers--which I know Beth wouldn't like--if she were here I'd cook her a beef burger!) I also made a pasta salad, a cucumber/onion salad and we (Mom and I) made an ice cream cake. My friend is bringing the buns and corn on the cob.

So, just checking in and now off to beddy bye! Night!

Happy Labor day everyone.

I hope you all are doing good.

I hope today will be my final day working on painting all these crosses for a promo pack for my boyfriend's work. My mom and dad came over yesterday and helped us paint the bases to them. Which was so nice, we all painted, laughed and talked, we would take swim breaks and jump in the pool then get back out and paint some more. Bob and I painted from 7 in the morning til 8 last night. We are going to start painting now. Then at 11 drive to new mexico with my parents for maragaritas and cactus roasted brisket with desert honey chipolte bbq sauce..it is so yuM.

Courtney.. You are such a beautiful girl..inside and out:hug:

Beth... I'm so glad your grandma is home! I hope she finds a good treasure at the garage sales she so loves.

Cheryl... those potatoes sound yummY! You are a great cook! Have the bestest time today and I can't wait to see you..just a few more days.

~HuLa HuLa~ cuz you just know HaPpPy MoNkeY girLs do the HuLa!

Morning my diva gals!

Beth I am glad you guys were able to get the mess cleaned up and it actually turned into something sorta good (getting the garage cleaned up). At least something good came of it LOL. Hope you are feeling a little better. I feel better in the mornings but my nights stink. I have a hard time sleeping but otherwise I am just kind of achy which I will take over a full blown cold!

Courtney LOVE the pics! Your mom is so cute and so are you and your BF! Great pics and looks like a fun time!!

Cheryl have fun at your BBQ today. Your food always sounds so yummy! DROOL!! We all need to move next to Cheryl and be her new best friends so we can come over for dinner, lunch, holidays you get the idea ;)

Dawn that sounds like you guys had a fun day yesterday and today sounds like even MORE fun. Enjoy your drive to NM and that yummy lunch!

As for me well we can't seem to get rid of the diseases round this joint. I am thinking about putting up one of those termite tents on this stupid place lol!

Shelby is FINALLY feeling better and although I don't feel 100% I feel ok enough to venture out but then last night Lynn comes in with a puffy eye! I swear it BETTER not be pink eye because we had the WORST bout with it last year with Katy and Shelby. Katy got it REALLY bad and had to be on not only the drops but oral antibiotics for over a week and missed an entire week of school and it was right around this time last year (except a month later, October). It is SO contagious and trying to keep the other two from getting it if she truly has it well UGH! Esp since Lynn and Katy share a room and Lynn's hygiene habits SUCK. They also all three share a bathroom. Shelby ended up getting it from Katy last year even though I did EVERYTHING you are supposed to do like separate towels, washclothes etc. They BOTH missed a whole week of school.

I REALLY don't want that happening again since they JUST started! I am just praying that she DOESN'T have it but I would NOT be surprised based on her hygiene. UGH!

I won't know till she wakes up if it is all swollen up and if there is pus or if it is all red or whatever cuz last night it was just puffy. If it IS it looks like Shane will be making a trip to the stupid urgent care. And on a holiday no less. GREAT!

We can't seem to catch a break LOL. Beth I think you and I have the same luck right now. ;)

Anyway so my plans for the day are on hold until everyone is up and that is determined. IF she is ok we MAY be going to see HP finally but if not who knows.

I WAS supposed to go with mom and Katy to see J&J but she was wavering on me on the phone last night so I think she is passing us over for golf or something and they have plans tonight with friends so we are on our own.

Anyway that's it for me for now. I will check in later.

I hope everyone who is off today has something fun planned! TTYL

Hey all! How's it going?

Beth! Yeah for grandma!!!! So happy!

We had a bbq yesterday as I have to work a double today. As soon as my husband put the beef on the grill the rain started coming down! We had a nice time visiting with my inlaws who we are going to DL with in 9 days! And my mother, grandmother and nephew were there as well!

DS was NOT happy when I told him I was working a double today. Each time he seems to have a bit more difficult a time with it. Hopefully the trip will help remind him who I am!

I'll be back on later!

Sarah

Morning ladies! I left out the "good" part because I am not having a good morning thus far. We woke up to a broken water heater and a flooded garage. :sad2:

I swear if it's not one thing, it's another. First a broken van, then sick kids, then my Grandma in the hospital, now this. And I'm still feeling sick and worn down myself so this is all just a bit much for me right now. :(

Anyway, don't mean to come here and be a downer! Sorry about that.

Hopefully everyone is having a better weekend than I am.
Jen's got her race today!! Go Jen!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: We are all rooting for ya!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Sarah, good luck packing. I pack for 6, and no, it's not easy! LOL But it's exciting knowing you are packing for such a fun time. :wizard:

Kelly, take care, and don't you get sick too!!!

Cristabel, have fun at the movies today. popcorn::

And to the rest of you Divas:

I'm late as usual, but big hugs from me. Sometimes it seems like the world is out to get you. I hope things brighten up soon!

Ok Divas--I made the yummiest thing yesterday that was SOOOOO good that I just had to share. That sounds really good, and about as healthy as my crawfish bisque! :rotfl2: I might actually make it tonight! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the recipe.

Yay Grandma!!!! I hope she found some great yard sale bargains. Around here, the yard sales are sad, but in WV, they are awesome! Most don't seem to use eBay or Craigslist out there, so all the good stuff is still at the yard sales. :thumbsup2

Really cute Pictures Courtney!

Kelly, Stephanie, and anyone else hurting (D, are you feeling any better?) I hope you all are healing and feeling divalicious soon!

I have nothing planned for today, but I'm going to try to make 'picnic' type stuff for dinner tonight. Bruce is at work, so the boys and I are just going to hang before the craziness of the week is here. I worked all weekend, and now have a couple of days off. I had to go back to work full time. We really want to move back East next year, so I'm working more to make more, but it adds so much stress because I still do all the schooling and therapies. You working moms know what I'm talking about.

Have a great day off everyone!!!

Good Mornin Ladies!

Just wanted to say HI, and give my  to all of you.

Steph, I hope your surgery goes well, and you do not have so much pain.:flower3: By the way, this weekend we drove down south right through your area. We always go through the desert, and cut across a shoutcut. Besides, it is way more fun that way. Anywhos, we made a right turn at the entrance to Edwards Airforce Base, at Ave E, and 140th East street. I thought about you as we drove by. It was smokey heading south from there, but as soon as we started toward San Bernardino it cleared up.

Beth, Glad to hear there was a happy ending to your flooding. Hope you feel better today. I'm also so happy that your Grandma is home, and is feeling great. What a blessing!

Cheryl, the potatoes sound yummy!! No wonder.............. 2 cups of cream. :eek:What is not to like?? :rotfl: I love BBQd salmon also. Yum! Is there somethingk special you like to add to your burgers?

Coutney, I hope your Mom finds a job really soon. Your pictures are so cute. You truly are a pretty princess belle!! :cutie:

Dawn, You are still working on those crosses? :faint: But what a fun why to do it..............making it a family affair.:grouphug:

This weekend we went to So Cal to Dave's Dad 85th birthday party in Redlands. That is where I grew up. On Sunday we drove to Oceanside and picked up my Mom from my Brother's house. She has been visiting him for the last 6 weeks. It's nice to have her home again.
This morning I'm going to bring her some milk, eggs and ?, so she doesn't have to go out yet. Then I might take Kaitlyn to Fresno, to get some stuff that is not available around here. Namely makeup. :rolleyes1 I'm probably a fool for going out with everybody else on Labor Day cuz of all the sales, but this is the only day that she is around. Everyday after school she has volleyball practice or games, so she is one busy lady at the moment.

I hope you all have a good day.:goodvibes

Good morning ladies. :yay:

Well, I'm back from Disneyland, tired and broke - LOL.

Had a nice time but good grief was it HOT and HUMID! A few times I really thought I was going to pass out, and Justin had a few moments when he thought he was going to be sick. We drank water water water all day, but the heat at times was just too much.

Trip highlights:

*Extremely hot and humid! Sweat, sweat, and more sweat. Had to peel our clothes off at the end of the day. Gross. :crazy2:
*Low crowds until Friday evening. Lines were short, even for Space and Peter Pan. The only long line was for Splash, which was 45 minutes all week. No secret as to why that was - LOL.
*We saw the new dragon make it's debut performance in Fantasmic - very cool.
*My family had our first Dole Whips - yummy.
*Met with Cheryl and Jen at the Lost Bar - two AWESOME, accomplished ladies! They both inspire me so much to continue to pursue my Masters and future goals.
*Went to Universal Studios for the first time in 30 years - loved it!
*Universal provides cooling stations throughout their park - loved those! Why doesn't Disney provide those throughout their parks?!?!
*Really liked the new pirate kids suites at the HOJO. Didn't like the view or the traffic though, but still very nice. Having two bathrooms was great.
*Found Donna's Mickey-vampire shirt - too cute! I'll mail it out to her tomorrow.

Now, the one bad thing......the day we were leaving (right before we left for the airport) I bought a cute Minnie hoodie t-shirt at the World of Disney store, along with some other stuff. I take the Disneyland bag with the stuff we just bought and put it in our suitcase. We get home, and yesterday evening I was going through everything. I pull out the Minnie hoodie t-shirt and discover the check-out CM at the register didn't take off the security tag.....and this security tag contains ink too. Not sure what I'm going to do, but I'm a little peeved about it! Hopefully I can find a store here that can take it off for me. Otherwise, I'll have to go through the trouble to contact somebody at Disney, fight with them, ship the shirt back, eat the shipping costs, blah blah blah. Stuff like that just really annoys me, you know, because I have to go through all the trouble to correct someone's else's mistake. :headache:

Anyway, I'll try to post a few pictures in a day or two. :thumbsup2

Today I have to go shopping for school supplies. Our kids' first day is tomorrow. I wonder if there's even a box of crayons left to be bought? :goodvibes

This morning the kids and my hubby came into my office to surprised me with some birthday gifts they got for me while we were down at Disneyland. They're sneaky! They bought them while I was meeting with Cheryl and Jen at the Lost Bar. Ryan (my 10 year old) gave me a cute lime green Disneyland Happy Birthday shirt, Luke (my 6 year old) gave me a darling blue Disneyland t-shirt with Mickey on it, and Justin gave me the cutest Tink t-shirt and a rolling Disneyland duffle bag. Awwwww, they're so thoughtful!

Later we're going over to my friend Cathy's house (she came on the first ladies trip with me). She wants to cook me a birthday dinner - she's so sweet! :cutie:

Hope everyone has a great day! Talk to you all later.

Welcome Home, Capri! And Happy Birthday!!!

I know what you mean about the heat. We were there a couple of summers ago, and Marty got really sick from the heat. In fact, he spent the good part of a day in first aid. It was a big bummer!

Oh my! Cheryl, you truly do spoil all your family and friends! And you'd even make me a beef burger??? Awwww.

Sounds like you are having a nice weekend. :goodvibes

I feel better in the mornings but my nights stink. I have a hard time sleeping but otherwise I am just kind of achy which I will take over a full blown cold!
I'm sorry to hear that. Try and get as much rest as you can, and I hope you don't get any sicker. :wizard:

DS was NOT happy when I told him I was working a double today. Each time he seems to have a bit more difficult a time with it. Hopefully the trip will help remind him who I am!
Awww, this trip will be so great for you all. He's going to love having all that mommy time! :goodvibes

I had to go back to work full time. We really want to move back East next year, so I'm working more to make more, but it adds so much stress because I still do all the schooling and therapies.
:worship: Wow Heather, I don't know how you do it! Move back East?? We'll miss you!!!!

Then I might take Kaitlyn to Fresno, to get some stuff that is not available around here. Namely makeup. :rolleyes1 I'm probably a fool for going out with everybody else on Labor Day cuz of all the sales, but this is the only day that she is around.
Good luck shopping! :wizard:

Happy Labor Day, Friends!!!
Back at ya! :thumbsup2

Well, I'm back from Disneyland, tired and broke - LOL.
:yay: Welcome back!!!
Sorry it was so hot when you were there. I cannot do Disney when it's hot like that. It ruins it for me. :sad2:

But it sounds like ya'll still had a great time! Cannot wait to see some pics.
Sorry about your t-shirt. What a hassle. Hopefully they will resolve it quickly.

Sounds like your birthday surprises were great, and enjoy your birthday dinner. :)

Hope everyone is having a good day so far. I'm just kicking back with the kids and waiting for someone to come repair the water heater. Hopefully they call soon!!!

Just a reminder, if anyone is thinking of signing up for the Halloween exchange but hasn't done so yet, sign ups will end Wednesday morning, so don't delay too long. :thumbsup2

Talk to y'all later!!!! :)

Cheryl, the potatoes sound yummy!! No wonder.............. 2 cups of cream. :eek:What is not to like?? :rotfl: I love BBQd salmon also. Yum! Is there somethingk special you like to add to your burgers?

LOL-- I never make them the same way twice. Basics are fresh salmon, skinned, cut in cubes and then food processed into "burger"; an egg or two, seasoned bread crumbs, garlic salt, minced onion, pepper, and then whatever herbs I have growing in my garden or have bought. last night I used dill, cilantro and a little mint (last time I used chives). Mix it all together and make burgers--I stored them between wax paper so they're ready to go! I actually don't grill them because they're delicate--I saute in a little olive oil.

They are delish--I know cause Mom and I split one for breakfast (had to make sure they were ok, right?)

Beth: I hope the water heater guy gets there soon.

Capri--Happy Birthday and your family did great on the presents! You are wearing your new Birthday t-shirt to Cathy's aren't you?

Everyone else--have a great Labor Day--I'm off to shower and change--company arrives in 75 minutes!!!!:scared1:

Beth: maybe you've already done this but can you post somewhere the list of who has signed up for the exchange? I know I sent you a PM but wanted to make sure you got it and that I'm signed up. :thumbsup2

Happy Labor Day and Happy Last Day of the Long Weekend! I really believe that we should always have three day weekends; we would all be happier employees!

Courtney – Adorable pictures! Who did the Dodgers play? I’ve been to a couple of Dodger games, one was when they played my Rockies but my Rockies did not make me proud!!!

Beth – I hope the water heater repair person shows up soon. Cold showers are not fun! PS I sent you a PM for the Halloween exchange.

Cheryl – Those potatoes sound really yummy, I’ll need to try them. I really should try cooking more often! I hope you are having fun with your company...the food sounds yummy!

Capri – Happy Birthday and I am glad you had a nice trip to DL, but sorry about the heat! It is miserable when it’s hot! We were there on Sat. and we did everything we could think of where we could be in A/C.

Jen – How was the ½ Marathon? I hope you had a great time! I tried to find your finish time online but wasn't able to.

Cheryl, Capri, Jen – Sounds like you had a very nice evening. I wish I could have joined you!

Kelly – I hope to hear soon that you are feeling 100% better!

Dawn – Hi! Seeing you soon!

Sarah – Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming…you’ll be in DL soon! I had a chance to go to Atlanta for the weekend of your BD lunch at DL to meet Mr. CA since he’ll be gone for 10 days but I chose to stay here and meet up with you all for your BD lunch instead! I’m looking forward to seeing you again!

Heather – You’re still coming to the Oct. meet, right???

Melody – Have fun shopping and I hope the crowds aren’t too bad. I like Sephora for makeup so I always make sure to stop in the one at DTD.

Tina and anyone else that I missed – Have a super day!

We had a busy weekend but did catch up on some much needed sleep. We went to the Hollywood Bowl Friday night, Sat. DL and then yesterday we went to the Gene Autry Museum to see a climbing exhibit, today we are going to Mr. CA’s parents house for a pool/BQ party…it’s been busy weekend leading into a busy week but guess what I am only working Tues. and half a day Wed. and then I am off to DL to meet Donna and Tracy and go to the D23 Expo the rest of the week. I am so excited!:dance3:

I hope everyone has a great week!

Did you guys hear that Rivers of America will be drained during our trip?! I heard that they are draining it in January and it won't be refilled till April! Bummed! No Fantasmic.:sad1:

Sarah

Capri, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip with the lower than expected crowds. We went last Sunday and had the same luck :thumbsup2 Low crowds but HOT HOT HOT. About the security tag, you can always go to the Disney store nearest you and show the receipt and I'm sure they'll be happy to take the tag off.

Did you guys hear that Rivers of America will be drained during our trip?! I heard that they are draining it in January and it won't be refilled till April! Bummed! No Fantasmic.:sad1:

Sarah

I read that and I'm glad they are doing it because it needs to be cleaned, desperately! I keep wondering what they're going to find in there. I better ride the Mark Twain before they drain the river.

Did you guys hear that Rivers of America will be drained during our trip?! I heard that they are draining it in January and it won't be refilled till April!
Yes, they announced that months ago. That is the main reason why I was originally not sure if I would go on this trip but would rather take a trip with my family this summer or fall. I was trying for September but it was not working out then DH decided to attend a conference in December so that timing worked out great because I can get my "boys" right after they finish college finals and hop on a plane to meet DH in Anaheim. Then recently I decided that I would go ahead and do the Divas trip also (birthday present to myself!) but I will already have seen the Rivers in December. I don't care so much about Fantasmic but I love walking and sitting by the river. I was there once when they were building Fantasmic and it was just not the same having the whole river area fenced off.

Hey all!

Cheryl, how were those Salmon burgers? They sound yummy. :) Eating them for breakfast sounds like a great idea to me!

Vicki, I am going in October! I can't wait, and have a costume and everything. I can't wait to my friends again. :yay:

Hey Sarah, yeah, I'm bummed about F! also. I will have to make sure to see it at least once in Oct.

Capri, that sounds like a great trip. The heat would have ruined it for me also. Bummer about the shirt, I would think the Disney store would remove the tag also.
