Hi Ladies!

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. It is way too hot here for it to be the end of September. It was over 100 today. Anyway the parade was nice just wish there was shade to sit under. Then we headed to the Greek Festival. The food was awesome to Josh and I. We had lamb, greecian chicken, baklava, another dessert that I can't pronounce it's name but it was yummy, as well as lots of other sides. They offered hot dogs to the kids so they were happy as well. We had a nice table to sit at under big outdoor tents. While we ate they had Greek music playing and children performing folk dance. By the time we left there the kids were extremely tired and hot (Josh and I were hot as well). We had to do a small amount of shopping in town and then were able to head home. We all ate so much today that I think we're going to have cereal for dinner. ;)

Have a nice evening. Take care, talk to you all later.

Awesome job, child!:thumbsup2

It was way too hot here today, too, Steph. Over 100. I am so ready for fall weather.

Not much going on here. Ran errands, got a pedicure. Made homemade Split Pea soup with corn bread for DH. He asked me to make it about a week ago. It was really yummy despite the hot day. Oh, I did do something nice for myself today. While at Costco I bought a bouquet of flowers. I thanked DH for buying them for me as he helped me unload the car. They are really pretty and smell so good.

Have a good night everyone.:)

Hey Divas! I know a couple of you have already seen these pictures but for those of you who read my last post and thought "What is she talking about with these pears?!" I am posting some pictures of them so you have a better idea. I put together a picture book of about 30 pictures of them playing in Disneyland and wrote a 4 minute story on their fun-filled fay at the Happiest Place on Earth. I presented it to my class (Speech Arts for Children) on Thursday and am thrilled to report I got an A on it! I even got the approval to create another one for my next assignment. I have to teach kids something so any auggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated! :flower3:

A special THANKS to Dawn for helping me with the idea of creating a book about the prefect pair and for the great picture suggestions! :goodvibes Dawn created the girl (Bartlett) and I created the male (Bosc). Bartlett and Bosc are types of pears and I thought it was cute to play with the words.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Just adorable Bree!! I love children's books. :cloud9:

Yay for A's!

Brianne--what if you introduce another type of fruit (maybe an apple or something?) to teach a lesson about different isn't necessarily a bad thing? LIke maybe the pears are initially not nice to the apple, but then the apple saves them or something and they realize the apple is a good fruit? Just a thought.
I like it!

Thanks! I was thinking I would use a different kind of fruit or vegetable or something for the next one...I could teach them manners or something. IDK yet. Keep you posted though! =)
Another good idea!!!

How about another kind of pear, but to your pears, she is the "ugly duckling," cuz she is different?

Bree.... Super Cute! I pm'd you an idea for the next book. You are very creative. I am so glad Your teacher was well happy with your originality.

Just a quick Good Morning to all!

Bree- I love the pears they are too cute.

Steph- Sounds like you had a busy day. The Greeks love to have festivals. We have them in our area at least 2 times a year & they also have a convention.

Dawn- for always being a sweetie pie.

Hope everyone's weekend continues to be great weekend.

Happy Sunday divas!

Bri I LOVE your little pears! They are SO cute and I love this whole story idea as well as all the suggestions the other divas had! So cute and congrats on the A!!

Steph sounds like a lot of fun at the festival. I love those type things. They have a garlic festival, asparagus festival and crawdad festival around here. ALL yummy and all fun!

Anyway yesterday we had a REALLY nice time! We went up and they had it at a restaurant but it was really like a hall. They had all these tables set up and it was a buffet dinner. There was probably about 100 plus people there. A lot of family and then a bunch of his friends. He was in World War two and then he worked for the federal govt so lots of friends from that. They had several people get up and talk about him and then they hired his favorite cowboy poet/singer to come entertain.

One scary thing that happened was we were all out mingling and talking and my aunt collapsed and I think had some type of seizure. Apparently this has happened before and she has been tested and they "claim" that nothing is wrong with her but we were pretty worried. She swears she just fainted but I used to date an epileptic and I have seen seizures and she was DEF seizing! So that was pretty scary. But otherwise it was REALLY fun to get to visit with everyone and just a great evening.

Pretty much everyone stayed up there but we came home.

I got some great pictures although my group shot didn't turn out cuz someone else took it so I will have to get that one from my mom's camera. And then this morning I downloaded them and then the place where I sent them is no longer doing 1 hour photo so I tried to send them to Walgreens and then RIGHT as I was downloading them my computer dumped me out because my memory is getting low. So not having a good day! It took me FOREVER to get all logged in and to get the new site to work and then after ALL that it dumped me out. I was SO angry. Now I am on my work laptop cuz shane is defragging my pc! Anyway once he is done I will add some pics cuz they are on my pc.

But anyway I hate to even MENTION it but we are going to once again attempt to see Harry Potter. I found it at a hole in the wall theater downtown. It is only playing a couple times a day but we are going to try one last time to see it. Since our plans for today got scrapped since my friend didn't come we have today open.

SOOOO we shall see! I may or may not report back that I have seen it this afternoon LOL.

Anyway hope everyone has a good day today and ttyl!

Ok finally got my computer back up and running.

Anyway here are a few pics from yesterday.

This is my uncle's cake with a pic of him during WW2. Pretty neat!

100_3434.jpg

Then last year my uncle's son used to be a city councilman and he got a friend of his who is an assemblyman to come and speak. He had my uncle as well as 12 other WW2 vets honored at the capital for helping liberate concentration camp victims. And this was a special award that he had made for him. It was REALLY special!!

100_3441.jpg

And then these are the 4 granddaughters. 3 of which I basically grew up with and then the other one I didn't see as much (the long haired blonde) But the other three I lived with off and on and they are like my sisters!

100_3449.jpg

And then this of course is our family.

100_3458.jpg

They took a big group family photo but mine didn't turn out. When I get a copy of mom's I will post it!

Anyway just wanted to share! :)

Hello from Birmenstorf Switzerland!

Oh my! I just got home from the longest day! We had our first birthday party here. Nico was invited by one of his PreK schoolmates and was SO excited to go. We don't have a car, so I had to research how to get to this little village by public transport. Well, after much research on the web, I discovered that one of the required buses didn't run on Sunday. Nico was devastated. So I called the host of the party and they offered to pick us up at the train station. Way over went smooth. Bus ride. Train ride. And then a pick up at the train station. We had a lovely party with Nico's schoolmates and families. He and Max are the only Americans at the English speaking international school and his classmates at the party were from the Netherlands, England, Romania and Slovakia. We had cake and games and good fun. Well at the end of the party had to bum a ride (without car seats! :scared1:) from another family who dropped us off at the station. This was a very small train station and I studied the schedule meticulously following instructions precisely. Or so I thought. Turns out I got on the wrong train and ended up going to Zurich. Ugh. I decided to go all the way, hoping more trains would be available to go back to Baden. Made it to Zurich and Nico had to go potty. Found a terribly clean bathroom, but it costs two dollars. He rushed in the turnstyles without me and then I had to pay another two dollars to get him. Four dollars to go potty. Wow! Finally we got our train back to Baden and then missed our connection to the bus. Had to wait in the dark 30 more minutes and finally made it home at almost 9pm. That made three hours on public transport. Boy, I was tired and grumpy and wished I had never gone to that party. But I know it was the right thing to do as we need to take every invitation we get to meet people at this point. I just wish I had a car sometimes.

Anyhoo...guess I just needed to vent.

On other fronts...Nico and Max have a week vacation coming up in mid October. They have some decent rates plus Halloween decorations at Disney Paris. DH thinks I'm insane and is philosophically opposed to going to DLP when we haven't yet toured Europe. I guess I have to agree. Still...I'd like to see it, especially at Halloween.

Hope everyone is doing great!!

Pixie dust to all!:wizard::wizard::wizard:

Ahhh Jen!:hug::hug::hug:

You are so brave to embark on this wonderful journey with Your family. I know it must be so hard at times. Be extra good to You.

If anyone can make this move a positive experience, i believe it is You!

Thanks for writing and letting us know how you are doing.

It's only normal You are wanting to go to Disneyland Paris right now..it's a familiar in a world of unknown.

Hang in there:flower3:

Afternoon all!

Jen what an adventure! You are braver than I!! I think I would be pretty scared to go on all that foreign public transit by myself with 2 little ones. Glad you had fun at the party and sorry it was such a hassle getting around but I think you are right. It is a new experience and you are getting to meet people so that makes it good! :)

As for us we FINALLY got to see HP and after ALL of that I thought it was boring LOL. I got in there and then I could hardly keep my eyes open. I was tired anyway but then the movie seemed to run REALLY long and it just didn't seem to have the excitement of some of the others. Plus I missed seeing the Dursleys in this one and it just seemed boring to me. I have never read any of the books and am FINALLY starting to do so (am in the middle of the first one) so I think I will like them better but the point is I didn't know what to expect at all but it just was NOT that great to me. The ONLY good thing was that it carried on with the storyline and it was nice to see the characters again but DEF my least fav. But I am GLAD that I at least got to see it cuz otherwise I would not have known what I was missing out on LOL.

Anyway now we are home and just relaxing. Can't wait to see Amazing race and Extreme Home Makeover tonight! :)

Take care all and have a good rest of your weekend!

I totally agree with everything Dawn said.

Aw, Kelly! After all that you didn't even like the movie?!?!! Major bummer!
I also wanted to tell you that that is a great family picture that you posted earlier! And I can't wait for Amazing Race tonight, either!!!!

LOL I know Tina isn't that too much! Shane said maybe there was a REASON we weren't supposed to see it in the theaters LOL! But that is ok. I am kind of glad I saw it because if I HADN'T then I would have been wondering this whole time "thinking" I had been missing something GREAT LOL. So now I KNOW it wasn't so hot. We will still end up buying it cuz we own all the others and we have to have the whole series and maybe if I watch it again I will like it better but it was just the LONGEST and least exciting of all of them so far. But like I said I always like seeing the characters and how they progress etc but I wish it had been a bit more exciting. But that's ok. It was still nice to get out of the house! :)

And thanks for the compliment. I thought that pic turned out nice too! :)

AR baby! YEAH!! Can't wait!!!!

I'm surprised the thread hasn't grown five pages since I last checked.
Last night I slept over my uncle's house because he was giving me a ride to my grandma's today. My grandpa passed out Thursday afternoon at the gym. They don't know what's wrong yet but my grandpa has severe back pain. The pain started before he passed out, my grandma is pretty sure he messed it up when helping at church. Now they are waiting on my grandpa's doctors for results. Please keep him in your prayers.

Had a great day. I was able to see all of my family  I learned my uncle and his family have APs too and are spending Geneva's (one of my cousins) 10th birthday at DL next Wednesday. I'll be joining them after school.

And, like clockwork, I can hear the DL fireworks booming :cloud9:
I'm sad I missed the Halloween fireworks on Friday but I was too hot, too tired and the park was too crowded. I'm going to make it a goal to see them and with good seats to boot.

Hi All - Made it home from DL around 8pm - Just in time to watch Amazing Race - I love that show! We had a great weekend at DL and the kids and I dropped Mr. CA off at LAX on our way home, he's taking the red-eye to ATL...that was sad after such a wonderful weekend. :sad1: I hope he can be home soon. :lovestruc

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I am not ready for the work-week at all!!!:sad2:

And a couple with my family! We had a great time!

Had a great weekend! 2 days off so I made homemade applesauce and went for a hike with my family. I meant to do a bunch more trip report stuff but that will have to wait.

Sarah

Dawn and ladies: thanks for your kind words.:grouphug: This morning when we got to school, Nico ran up to his class as he couldn't wait to see his friends from the party yesterday. Made it all worthwhile.

Sarah: LOVE the pictures! You look fabulous! And your children are absolutely precious!
