Beth: what about the bus or a train?

Well, I thought about the bus (no train) but it's not really practical for the whole family and I don't feel right going solo. Even though I was planning to spend most of the day Saturday (my b-day) solo in the parks, I was still going to do dinner and cake with the family out somewhere that night. The kids want to celebrate my birthday with me. It's still a big deal to them, kwim?

So for all six of us to go we'd need to rent a car, find a hotel, pay for gas, food, etc and for a quickie weekend it was just adding up to too much. Anyway. There will be other times. ::yes::
I'll just have to look forward to hearing about everyone's trip. And find some other way to keep busy that weekend so I'm not sitting home feeling sorry for myself!!!

Trudi, the shirt looks awesome on you, don't you love it?!:thumbsup2

Bree and I are still working on our tye die shirts, ummmm, let's just say they still need some work and leave it at that.;)

Stacie, I hope the job situation works out for you. If not, like you said, you still have a great job, so no stress. I worked for the same man at three different companys over 14 years and it was very weird when I moved to the Inland Empire and "Tom" was no longer my boss for the first time since like - forever!

I am so glad you are coming to the Oct meet, Wendy, but sad you will not make the Vegas trip.:guilty: We will miss you.

I understand that you cannot come, Beth. It is important to spend the day with your family. We are your second family, but Ruben and your kids come first.:grouphug: We will post reports and pics, promise.:)

And the Feb/Mar trip is going to be our best ever! We have so much fun stuff planned and so many friendships formed. I know many wonderful memories will be made and we will all have a grand time!:dance3:

Hope everyone is having a good one.

I can't wait till Friday.....I'm taking my nephew and Nikki to DLR for the day with my mother. Super fun!

Hey, We are going to be there on Friday, so be on the lookout! I hope we see you. We are doing the Welcome Tour in the AM and then later are doing Jedi Training, but otherwise are unplanned. Oh, yeah, we have Goofy's at 5:30 too. Other than that, no plans!

Hi from Switzerland Ladies! :goodvibes

It's a grey morning here. Kids are at school and DH is at the doctor's for ear aches. Seems colds are going around everywhere. So far I've stayed healthy...let's see if we can keep it that way!

So we have been here almost a month. Wow. Still don't know if it's sunk in, but I think I'm moving beyond just "set up and survive" mode. Still missing some key items that would make life easier, namely washing machine and dryer (I've been washing clothes in the tub, ach!) and our car. But kids are adjusting to school and DH to work and I'm well, keeping busy just keeping the house together and watching the kids. I am still working a bit, though finding it harder and harder to feel connected, especially since I pretty much know I'm a short timer. I have been applying to jobs in Switzerland and have had a couple of first interviews over the phone. I don't enjoy trying to find a job, but need to keep my chin up and trust that things will work out on that front.

Kids have next week off, so we are going to the Matterhorn this weekend. If we can get the car next week, we may go on another mini vaca the following weekend. I'm still hoping for DLP, but I don't think that's gonna happen. Not yet...but eventually!

Many good wishes to everybody! And have fun on those DL and Vegas trips!

-Jen

Stacerita.. how weird, that quiz was pretty right on.:confused3 Ahh i'm so sorry that there is this inner turmoil going on about work. I'm just sending you clarity and insight to the best path for you and yours. You know, it's going to be so great to see you again.:yay:

Morning my diva friends!

I told Wendy this on the oct thread but I am so happy you are coming! But girl you BETTER find a way to come in Feb! It won't be the same without you!!!

Dawn I am glad you were able to get some meds and hope that you are on the mend very soon! Can't wait to see you, 2 weeks from today!! Woo Hoo!! ;)

Tina I am sorry you had a crappy day yesterday. Hope today is better! Hey it is almost the weekend so that right there has to be good right! ;)

Beth I've said it a hundred times but I am still so bummed about Oct but I know your family will do something REALLY special for you to make up for not being able to go and hey being with family is the best right! And esp YOUR family. You have a GREAT one and I know they will make it special no matter what!! We will all be thinking of you and wishing you were there and it won't be long before Feb is here!!

We had a kick back night last night. Just took the girls to church and then Shane and I went and got ourselves a starbucks. That is our little treat for ourselves cuz wed's is "our" time. We get rid of all the kids for a couple of hours and get some "us" time. We usually get a coffee and just hang for awhile. We USED to go out to dinner and we may do that again sometime but we have to make sure the girls eat first so last night I just cooked. I made the BEST pork chops last night if I do say so myself. They were yummy! :)

Tonight is my FAV night of tv so I am looking forward to that. How sad is that LOL. Looking forward to tv. But I loves me some survivor and of course Flash Forward and then my show Fringe. Then of course I tivo CSI to watch tomorrow.

Then tomorrow is Ghost Whisperer which is also a big fav of mine and we have our sam's club run. Nothing exciting for the weekend except going to a soccer game and church but that's ok cuz it means another nice relaxing weekend. I like those. It seems like so much of the time we are go go going so it is nice to have weekends where we can just kick back once in awhile.

I have heard we are "supposed" to have our first Girl Scout meeting FINALLY next Friday night but haven't gotten any actual notice so we shall see. I hope so cuz it has been AWHILE! We need to get the ball rolling on that!

Anyway that's bout it for me. Hope everyone has a GREAT day and has some fun plans for the weekend!!

Oh and Jen I am SO excited for you to get to do some travelling. I have been LOVING seeing all your pics on FB!! I KNOW you will take lots of pics and I hope the weather cooperates for you when you go to Zermat! I really hope things work out and you get to go to DLP! And good luck on the job hunt!! :)

Kelly - wow, that is a lot of TV! The only shows I follow are Ugly Betty and So You Think You Can Dance. Bryan watches The Office and I used to always watch it too but this past year kind of got away from it. We never watch anything live anymore - just record it so we can skip through the commercials. In our house it is mostly sports but when I get time, it is usually movies. Bryan loves all the new Comcast sports channels, they show old games so he can watch football or basketball pretty much any time.

My kids were in Awana and I worked in it for a total of 11 years (Cubbies Director, Sparks Leader, Sparks Director, Secretary). We have a different program for kids now but still have the only High School Awana program in the area. I have "retired" from working with kids but am teaching Sunday School (K-1st) just for this year because they really needed someone.

Jen - how cool that you are going to see the real Matterhorn! :) I really should get on Facebook, I signed up but never did anything with it. I guess I am afraid of getting into something else that will give me an excuse to sit here :surfweb: rather than getting any work done around the house.

Yeah Carol we go through spurts with tv. There was a time when we only had like 1 or two things that we watched and during the summer I never turned the regular tv on. If we watched it at all we watched dvds or whatever. But I have watched a few of the reality shows since the beginning like survivor and Amazing Race and I also watched Big Brother although this was the first year that I wasn't into it and didn't watch. But I always watch the other two no matter what and then this past year my mom kept telling me about Dancing with the stars so I kind of got into that and then we started watching Extreme Home Makeover so now we are addicted to that as well. And I REALLY like sci fi stuff so I love Heros and Ghost Whisperer. When Charmed was on that was my FAV show and I have all the seasons of that on DVD. In fact Lost is my all time fav show and I can't WAIT till that comes back on!!! :) I am sure there are other good shows out there but I already have so many that I watch now as it is. For us it is just a matter of the old favs and then just recently we got interested in some of the new ones. American Idol is another fav that we watch when it is on. But our tv is never on during the day and on weekends if it is on at all it is mostly movies and such. :)

That is cool that you did awana for so long. Our church just started it last year and my youngest was a sparky and is again this year and my older one was a TNT and is again this year as well. Shelby, the younger one, finished her sparky book and has started on book 2 but Katy had a harder time with her book so she is only half way through hers. They do lots of fun stuff at our church, games and such, and they also do a christmas and an easter pageant. They don't follow things to the letter. They don't have the vests or get the same awards although Shelby did get the wings and Katy has a little badge that she got these stickers for each section she completed but they did get them some really cool backpacks and they have t-shirts instead. Then last year they gave them certificates and the ones that completed their books got little trophys. So it was fun for them.

My girls LOVE it and I am glad that they are able to learn the scripture and have fun doing it. :)

Hi ladies, sorry haven't been on for a while. The last two weeks have been kind of rough.

This was Raymond's favorite time of the year and I have really been down. Usually he and his brother are doing their hunting thing and we are making plans to go to the mountains. His brother was over Saturday (first day of bow season) and he was so sad not having Raymond there to hunt with, I felt so bad for him.

Well enough about me.

Beth I forgot that your birthday was this month, what day? Mine is the 28th (I call my self the little witch baby).

Here is what I am:

You Are Pumpkin Cupcakes

pumpkin-cupcakes.jpg

You are festive and energetic. You love to party and celebrate with friends and strangers. You may not be the most outgoing person in the world, but you always contribute in your own small way.

You are easy going, and you're apt to follow the crowd. Especially if the crowd is on its way to go do something fun. You get along with almost anyone, and you aren't quick to judge. You know you're not perfect, and you think flaws are what make people interesting.

What Pumpkin Treat Are You?

Blogthings: We'll Tell You The Truth... Someone Has To!

Those who know me from the WDW Ladies only trip know this fits me to a tee. At least I think it does. ;)

Linda is right about your family. You have such a gorgeous family, Beth, and it's wonderful that they look forward to spending your birthday with you. There are some moms whose kids could care less. I know, in a perfect world, you'd have it all, but nobody has that anymore (except maybe Donald Trump and Bill Gates?).

Linda - yup - I also tried tie dye and it's odd. One never came out at all - just a black blob - no Mickey. The other has a good Mickey shape but the dye bled outside of the Mickey area (but lighter, like a mistake) so it's not the greatest. But it was fun trying!

Hi Jen! Yes, if they just meet you, they will want to hire you.

Stacerita.. how weird, that quiz was pretty right on.:confused3 Ahh i'm so sorry that there is this inner turmoil going on about work. I'm just sending you clarity and insight to the best path for you and yours. You know, it's going to be so great to see you again.:yay:

:

 I am so sorry to hear you are struggling with this, but rest rest so you'll be 100% in a couple of weeks. :goodvibes

I also took the quiz and came out as pumpkin cupcakes. It was fairly accurate for me too. Did you do it?

Ok, so today has been crazy stressful day. Earlier this week we got notice that we would be laying off staff. Not happy about that. Especially since I have to decide who I can live without. This morning my director calls me at home (im thinking the worst of couse), but she just wanted to let me know before she told the others that she gave her resignation today. I have worked with her for almost 8 years and at 2 different facilities. That was a shock. Plus, I was keeping it on the down low, but I have been sending out my resume looking for another job. I love my job, but just not the shift anymore. So today I had an interview. This is the first time I ever had to interview for a job. The others I have had were all sorta me being recuited. So it was strange being on that side of the desk today. UGH! Ive also been working with some head hunters. Now that is odd. One found a perfect fit for me..but it would cause me to be on the freeway almost 2 hours one way! So not what I want. But the money is crazy money. We will see.

Hope everyone is having a good one.

I can't wait till Friday.....I'm taking my nephew and Nikki to DLR for the day with my mother. Super fun!

Stacie, sad to hear about losing your supervisor. These times are tough, so whatever you do, hold onto your job until you know you have another one. I'm not surprised to hear someone offered you great money, they would be lucky to have you. But still, it's a horrid market out there and driving two hours one way has gotta be worse than your schedule, no?

Wishing you luck on the interview. I hate job interviewing but it's a necessary pain in the bottom! The two hour commute sounds horrible but sometimes if the money is just too good to pass up. Mr. CA commutes 2 hours but that's round trip - it does take a lot away from family time. :(

Yep, I'm going now. It's gonna be the last trip I take for awhile, so that means no Vegas next month. :sad2: It also means that there's a possibility I wont make it to the Diva trip next year. :sad1:

I'll have an extra bed though...so you know you can always stay with me. Just sayin'. :rolleyes1

Yay Wendy - It'll be great to see you again! I didn't get to talk to you much when I met you all in Vegas.

Jen - I am glad that things seem to be settling in for you! How exciting though!!! Where do you live exactly in Switzerland? My parents are leaving next week and I want to see if they might be planning to be in your area at all. They are on a tour (not my cup of tea, but they like those type of things) so they don't have any flexibiltiy.

Seeing the real Matterhorn...wow! - Very exciting! Have a wonderful time!
Oh I have a question - do they drive on the same side of the street as we do here in the USA?

I hope everyone has a great day!

I'm doing laundry, working of course, and will be packing later...I have to dig out my Uggs and winter coat and sweaters because it's supposed to snow in Denver this weekend...brrrrrr! :scared1:

:yay: wooooOOOoo.. i'm finished with my exchange reports.. 5 of them..is alot! It was a great exchange!:thumbsup2

Hiya Kelly:goodvibes

Hey today was a great day..i got to talk to Cheryl twice on the phone!:yay:
Once bella was trying to eat her car!

Donna..Katie and I were punkin bread!

Shirley... it's very nice to meet you. I am so sorry your heart is hurting.

ViCkI.. heyyyyyyy you! i can't wait to see your costume!

Remember that being brave is being without fear.. it is the disappation of fear through doing.

I'm going to chew on it for awhile.

Thanks Dawn!

Yes, I AM excited to go to the Matterhorn. We supposedly have a room with a view. Hopefully, it will be not of fog or clouds. I will post FB pics!

Vicki--I live about an hour from Zurich and 20 minutes from Baden. Let me know if they're going to be in the area.

And yes, they DO drive on the same side of the street as we do, thankfully.

SO...I'm going in to Zurich for my first job interview tomorrow. Well, not really a job interview, but a meeting with a placement agency. Good first meeting to get back into the swing of interviewing. I had to find a suit to wear in my unpacked bags. Unfortunately, my boxes with my shoes has NOT arrived, so I will be wearing my hiking shoes to the train station. I'm hoping that Migros is open and I will be able to buy a pair of dress shoes at 9am. Plus, I have no umbrella. Well, nothing like an actual meeting to help me start getting things in order. Should be kind of fun just feeling a part of the Zurich work world, so I can see how/if it suits me and if it's doable with that commute! But it's only an hour each way...not two at least!

Time for bed here.
-Jen

Just popping in to say Hello .

Good to hear that some of the sickly are feeling a little better.

My sister wants me to go to Disneyland tonight, but I'm still not 100% better so I don't think that's a good idea.

I'll be at Disneyland on Monday since my kids don't have school & hopefully it won't be crowded.

I'm going to go on Facebook to check out Jen's pictures. I haven't been on Facebook in ages :headache:.

Talk to you all later :flower3:.

Trudi - That shirt is way cute and looks adorable on you! :thumbsup2

Katie - Sorry to hear about your ****** BIL. Men, for the most part, suck.

Stacie - Sorry to hear about your job whoas.

Dawn - I'm so happy you are feeling better!

Melody - I hope you're enjoying Vegas!

Beth - I really wish you were coming this month, you still have two weeks to make it happen. :wizard: It's just not going to be the same without you.

I am so glad you are coming to the Oct meet, Wendy, but sad you will not make the Vegas trip.:guilty: We will miss you.

I wish I could go to Vegas, but there's just no way I could go in good conscience. I'm happy that I'll get to see you in a couple of weeks though!

Hi ya, Jen! How exciting that you are going to see the Matterhorn! I enjoy seeing your posts and pictures over on Facebook. :goodvibes

I told Wendy this on the oct thread but I am so happy you are coming! But girl you BETTER find a way to come in Feb! It won't be the same without you!!!

I'm happy I'm coming too. :goodvibes

I'll probably not know if I can go on next years trip until, well, next year.

Enjoy your shows! :happytv:

Hi ladies, sorry haven't been on for a while. The last two weeks have been kind of rough.

 :flower3:

Yay Wendy - It'll be great to see you again! I didn't get to talk to you much when I met you all in Vegas.

"Blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol." That and the fact that it was so freakin' loud that I'm lucky I could hear the voices in my head.

I hope everyone is having a happy Thursday!

'ello, 'ello, 'Ello! (in my best Bert voice)
How is everyone this afternoon?
I'm still deciding on a costume for this upcoming October meet and I think I might have decided on one but there are just so many options!

I have a fun filled day of housework, homework and cooking! I'm making pizza from the flat belly diet book. My mom has made it twice and it's DELICIOUS!

I hate to sound like a doofus but I've heard this mentioned a few times and what IS "Awana"?

Hi ladies, sorry haven't been on for a while. The last two weeks have been kind of rough.

:grouphug: to you. (and why do I suddenly want pumpkin cupcakes?)

Linda - yup - I also tried tie dye and it's odd. One never came out at all - just a black blob - no Mickey. The other has a good Mickey shape but the dye bled outside of the Mickey area (but lighter, like a mistake) so it's not the greatest. But it was fun trying!
I havent' done it yet, but I got one of those bleach pen thingies and am going to "clean up" my shirt with that.

Just a word of warning--if you're ordering a costume order BIG. They run really small.

Cheryl Awana is a program through the church that is kind of like scouts in a way. That's the best way I can describe it LOL. It is a structured program that has different levels. Cubbies for the little guys (like kindergarten and preschool I believe) and Sparkys for I believe 1-3rd and then TNT's for 4-6th. They get books that have little stories about the bible and then scripture verses that they have to memorize each week. As they finish each section of the book they earn things. For example the sparkies earn jewels for their wings and the TNT's earn little stickers for their badges. Then if they complete the entire book they can get a plaque or trophy depending on the group. The ones that go strictly by the program have vests that you can get patches for I believe that are like scouts but our group doesn't do that. Hope that explains it. :)

Afternoon all! Things have been crazy here! Jack is on the 2nd week of his 2 week fall break. I feel like I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'll be SO GLAD when Monday finally rolls around!:thumbsup2
Anyway, have been trying to keep up with the thread. I just don't post too often.:sad2:

Cheryl - Kelly explained AWANA pretty well. Here is also a link that explains the program. http://www.awana.org/about/default.aspx?id=17

I am really looking forward to the trip our family is taking over Halloween. I SO need a vacation! I have been so stressed and just feeling downright yucky lately. :sad2:

On another note - do you of you have AT&T u-verse for TV, phone, and/or internet? We are thinking of doing one of their bundles and saving a little money?
