OK - how sad is it that I'm the only one around right now????? :sad2: I will share my most terrible miscalculation with you all anyway! Today I made a very yummy barbecued pork roast for pulled pork sandwiches for dinner - yum!! However, I also made a very tasty coleslaw and baked beans to go with it. Yes, you heard me right........ cabbage and beans at the same time - with TWO GUYS in the house :scared1: Lordy, what was I thinking??? :confused3 I believe it's going to be a loud evening here :rolleyes1

Very funny. ;)

Hey everyone. Checking in. I've been skimming through the thread, and there are more posts than I can quote, so want you to know I've been thinking about you, especially the ones going through tough times right now. I think about you guys even during the day when I'm doing "other" things, so please know that even though I may not be posting comments, you ARE in my thoughts.

Last week I was in a series of meetings where the direct reports to the director of our organization (I work in Facilities) realigned our new organization -- this has happened because the division I'm in at Northrop Grumman (Integrated Systems- we build the B2, F18's, etc) merged with another division (Space Technology that used to be TRW), and now our whole organization has to be reformed, blah blah. Since I do so many different things at work two of the managers said that they wanted me in their organizations, and it looks like I'm ending up in the one that is not my first choice. Kind of a bummer. I'm glad I have a job, but am bummed that I won't be doing what I would like to do. So, I need to give myself an attitude adjustment so I can be a good team player. Sorry if I'm not making sense, but this has been on my mind enough where I'm dreaming about it. ::: sigh :::

On to other, better topics. :)

Does anyone have a link to the zazzle site to order t-shirts with the Tink logo - can we still order them? Even though the trip is over, I really like the design & would like to get it.

Have a good week, everyone. I'll try to participate more.

Oh, and did I see some new members? Welcome. :goodvibes

Hey ladies! I am exhausted. DBF and I took my DD and a friend of her's to DL today. It was very crowded. But we had a great time. We did see the parade, cute, but I wouldn't need to wait for it again. Maybe if we had younger kids with us, but not alone. But like I said, I am exhausted. I am gonna wash my face and hit the sack.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Thanks for the update on the parade -- what if you have a big group of fun-loving ladies sitting together? Would it make the parade worth waiting for?

Yesterday, my son, Nick, suggested we go get a bite to eat, so I said let's go to Storyteller. We parked at the Grand Californian (free valet when you eat @ Storyteller - so we had 5 hours), and we both had an early dinner (4pm). There weren't that many people in the restaurant. Service was great, though, and we had a nice dinner. It was nicer because HE treated ME - belated birthday dinner. It was unexpected and a nice surprise. We then went into DCA & on Toy Story Mania, stood in line for 40 min & went on the ride. We didn't mind standing in line since due to our schedules we hardly see each other, and we were able to catch up.

I had seen a cool video on youtube where they gave a strategy to get more points, like in the barn scene, if you hit the little rat on top of the barn the whole thing opens up and there are a ton of rats worth 1000 points each. Each scene has these hidden 'easter eggs' in them, but I forgot the others when we were playing. My son still beat me. I linked the video on FaceBook if anyone wants to see it.

After that we went shopping at the GC store. I had seen a t-shirt on the day we all had our character breakfast (3/8), and wanted to get it. It is green & brown with Tink on it, the number 53, and Disneyland on the back. They didn't have it, and when I asked the cast member she told me that they had changed the merchandise two days prior. :scared1:

However, they looked in the back room and they DID have it. (whew) So, that was my first purchase with my Disney birthday card. It was a good day. :cloud9:

Hi everyone!!

Here's my update:

Last night at California Grill was a disaster!! I ended up sitting at an area called the Chef's Table--and was totally ignored by my waiter. Awful! The food wasn't bad--but the bad service ruined it. More details later.

I have tried uploading photos---but it's hard on this laqptop. I'll try again tomorrow.

Today was a much better day. Started out raining--let up a liitle around 10:30 am so I left for Epcot. Started pouring agqain on the bus there. Stopped again until I got in the park--then it poured for about 20 minutes. Then it pretty much quit for the rest of the day, and later got sunny and warm. The flower and garden show is on--beautiful topiaries. I have pics. They did a great job! Later I had dinner at Les Chefs de France. It more than made up for last night. I had the prix fixe dinner--onion soupe, salmon with ratatouille and profiteroles. The yummiest part was the waiter--Jeremy. Sigh--if only I was 30 years younger (mmm...maybe even 20). I sent Stacielee a pic from my phone--and yes, I am wearing my birthday button so Jeremy sang Joyeux Anniversaire to me!

Got reaaalllyyyy cold tonight, so I came back around 8:30. Not sure what I'm doing tomorrow yet--I'll let you know.

Molly--if I ever have surgery again I'm flying you down here!

Kelly: hugs to you.

Everyone else--hope you had a great weekend!

Cheryl

Sounds like you are having a great time, well minus the crummy service last night.
YAY for wearing your birthday button!!!
Yummy waiters always makes the food & service better!!

Ooh, some eye candy with dinner - yummy :thumbsup2 Glad you're having a fun trip (minus the not so good service last night)

I got back from our three day trip to DL at around 4 today!! The parks were packed, but unlike Cristabel, I had a good time. Friday I was at the park with a good friend and her two daughters and my DD8. We got in early, (not AmySue early, but shortly after opening). Apparently when you caravan with friends who tend to drive the speed limit, you can't go 80!!!!!

My friends have AP's too and get the whole FP and walking with purpose thing. So we rode SM, IASW, HM, Winnie, the monorail, and then headed over to CA for lunch and then stayed over there. They had never done Bug's life or Heimlich, so we dilly-dally around pretty much avoiding the crowds. We finished our day with the three FP's we had gathered, Soarin, SM and IJ. Saw the firworks, they drove back to San DIego, and my Dd and I walked to our hotel. We stayed at Desert Inn.

It was totally fine. However, staying there made me think about our consideration about switching hotels for the meet next year. We really need to think about parking. Desert only had one space per room and even that was dicey. Also, you need to get your car out of the lot by 2PM on the day you check out. Our room this year had 4 carsat the HoJo and it was no problem.
Also, I had devil's own time pulling out of the driveway of the Desert about any time of day due to the traffic, foot and car. People are constantly streaming by in the crosswalk, Hojo's entry into the side street, then the light....much much much easier!!!

Saturday we just played in the pitiful ugly indoor pool, shopped at downtown disney and went to the movies...really fun relaxing day. I even got a lot of my book read, and spelling and book report--finished.

Today we were there at rope drop, did PP!!! Twice!!!! Grabbed fast passes, did most of fantasyland and thens pent an hour or so on Tom Sawyer's Island. We had never done that.

Around 2, we had HAD it, major crowds, and the DD seems to be getting sick, so we smooth sailed it back home.

I didn't see Stacie or Cristabel, but honestly...ZOO!!!!!

THe trip would have totally stunk if I didn't have an AP. Then we would have felt very pressured to DO everything. This way..we took it easy.

As easy as I can,anyway!!

I've already had my AP for a year and I still don't know how to take it easy.

Now I know that if I want to have a good time at DLR I need to go with Amy and Stacie because they know what's up :thumbsup2

Checking in here...

We had such a nice day! We went to SeaWorld and I cannot tell you how laid back and enjoyable this park is. We bought an annual pass ($59 thru AAA) and have three dates planned over the next six months. The landscaping and walkways are unbelieveable. I thought DL was spectacular, SW rivals it - in fact the plants and trees are far more beautiful. We had lunch with Shamu and it was so much fun:). It was nice to enjoy with DH & DD - nice family bonding day for sure. :thumbsup2

Of course my first love is DL, but this was really, really nice. Bad news is I ate way too much bad food, starting with a Carls Jr burrito on the way out of town, then onto a buffet lunch with several desserts I had to try and ending with the deep dish pizza we ordered from home (and devoured every bite I might say). Heavy sigh. Back to Lean Cuisines and cabbage tomorrow.:sad1:

Mary Jo, what a special day with Nick. I love those times with grown children. I relish them in fact.
Cheryl, I can't wait to hear more about your trip - I'm off to bed, talk to you all tomorrow.:)

Lulu, I'm glad you have talked up Sea World! I've been wanting to visit, and just never have. I found a good season pass deal, and have been pondering making some trips there, I think we might now :)

Hey Everyone!

I love hearing about all of your trips today. Cheryl, I'm sorry the Cali Grill did not work out. What a bummer, expecially when you know how good it could've been.

Linda, we are planning on spending a day or two at SW in Oct. Any tips? Do you think my almost 2 and 3 year olds would like eating with Shamu? I have heard that it's a beautiful park. :goodvibes

Not much going on today, I was exhausted. I did too much yesterday, so I was lazy today. The boys and I played, watched Monsters, ate, napped, played some more, and then watched signing times. It was a nice day. I only wish DH could have enjoyed it with us!

Debra, I'm glad your party went well! You sound like my kind of shopper, I love finding good deals.

Theresa, I've served that same meal many times myself. I'm weird because I love fresh coleslaw on my BBQ sandwiches. Yum! I'd serve Beano the next time you do that though...

Mary Jo, I hope your job situation works out. Maybe you'll end up liking it more than you think? Maybe you can switch later on? I hope you're not too stressed by it. :goodvibes

Talk with you all later!

Heather

Skip the dining with Shamu. I did that with mom 5 years ago probably. It is a buffet table with some kid foods. The kids really are too young to pay attention to and care about a person speaking about Shamu but as an adult I found that very informative. We sat at a table next to the pool. For the money it was nice for two adults but for kids they might be better off with a quick bite to eat then over to the playground.

Watch out for killer seagulls. They will set next to you and wait. They steal fish that people offer to the seals and steal food right off of you plate. They are not afraid of anything and you could throw molotov cocktails and they would flutter to the air and wait to land and feast some more. Nothing like watching a seal then having a blur coming past your face as the fish tidbit it purloined.:lmao:

Bring your own stroller. Not sure if they will still have the clydesdales. Wild Artic has a theater where guests sit and watch the movie but do not do the simulator. That is for all ages and for disabled guests. They do have an elevator in the area you go after that show.

Off season is nice as no crowds but shorter hours. They have companion bathrooms for disabled folk and parents. They are really big and there is one at the area to the right of the entrance.

Hi Mary Jo, nice to see you here. I'm sorry that your job wasn't exactly what you wanted but you sound like you've got a great attitude about it.

Thanks for the info about the video!:thumbsup2

Cheryl! So happy to hear you wore your birthday button!! And that you got Jeremy (don't know him but he sounds like a doll). When you have time, maybe when you're back, you can tell us what chef's table was. Terrible about the poor service! If only you had your Divas with you. We would have told him a thing or two!

I know you're busy having fun but we would love pictures... :goodvibes

Yummy waiters always makes the food & service better!!

Well-said. (insert chippendale waiter pic here)

Apparently when you caravan with friends who tend to drive the speed limit, you can't go 80!!!!!

It was totally fine. However, staying there made me think about our consideration about switching hotels for the meet next year.

Your comment about the speed limit - :rotfl2: I LOVE your sense of humor!

Good thoughts about the problems with smaller hotels for our big group.

We had lunch with Shamu and it was so much fun:)

Linda, please tell me more about that - are you sitting by the tank or what? Is Shamu wearing a tux? You've convinced me I should take DH down there at some point.

Not much going on today, I was exhausted. I'm weird because I love fresh coleslaw on my BBQ sandwiches.

Of course you're exhausted girl! You've got mono and strep and what else?

BTW, out here, in the wild west, we always get coleslaw served on our BBQ sandwiches. Also on our corned beef sands too.

So glad everyone had a wonderful Sunday. I spent mine at the gym taking a yoga class (haven't done yoga for like 15 years) and doing the cross trainer. It really cut into my day but it felt so good after.

Great to hear from you Cheryl!! I am golad to hear thatyou are wearing your button. Tiara too?

Keep us posted. I wish I was there...we had such fun in December.
Amy Sue

no tiara--I'm not that brave! BTW--news from home is that kitty is holding his own--with a lot of TLC of course. He's actually eating a bit on his own.

MMMM. Maybe I'll have to get one of those mini tiaras for my actual birthday. . . .

I did thankyou. Very quiet compared to yours. The parade does look like fun, but not outstanding. I do hope they replace it with a new one come the 55th anniversary.

Thanks for the update. What a bad experience at the CG! You'd think you would have had the best service sitting at the Chef's counter. Did she forget about you or something? We went there on our trip and had the best meal and service. But you know what? We enjoyed our meal at LeCellier better, and it didn't take 2 credits off of our vouchers. You just never know. I'm glad that your eye candy meal at Les Chefs made up for it. :rolleyes1

Linda, What a nice day with your family. I love those times too. :cloud9:

Hey Everyone!

Not much going on today, I was exhausted. I did too much yesterday, so I was lazy today. The boys and I played, watched Monsters, ate, napped, played some more, and then watched signing times. It was a nice day. I only wish DH could have enjoyed it with us!
Heather
No wonder you are exausted. You have 2 small boys, that would make any Mom tired...............add to that Mono, and it makes me tired just writing it down. Take care.
PS- When is your Mom coming?

Cheryl your trip sounds heavenly. Sorry about Cali Grill. That is usually one of my favs but love Chefs De France too though! That waiter sounds heavenly! :) Glad your Kitty is doing better!! Thanks for the hugs! :)

Deb glad the party went well. Can't wait to see the pics!

AmySue, sounds like you guys had fun. We leave on Sunday when the REAL crowds get there. Gee can't wait (note the sarcasm!!) But I knew this going in and the extended forecast is even calling for rain! ACK! Hopefully it will go away like it did for "our" trip. Glad you had fun though and I know we will too cuz we are avid fp users and know how to work the system.

Linda I LOVED SW when we went last February. It was REALLY cold though. Only wished we were there when it was warmer. Glad you had fun!

Well I am off to work today. It was REALLY windy here today and the wind is still here. BRRRR. I am taking all of Lynn's textbooks back to school today because they supposedly need them back so I am going to find out if they want me to withdraw her as well. I am assume so because even if she DOES show back up I assume she will have to go to continuation school. So it shall be interesting. Found 2 library books in her room as well that I think she stole. I guess I will find out when I go to the school.

Anyway then after work not much else. Just watch DWTS and that's bout it.

Have my psych apt tomorrow and meeting with a neruologist on Wed. I haven't ever seen one before. I will be very interested to see if he wants to change my meds or do anything different for my headaches. I kind of hope so cuz I am taking SO many different pills and I would like to get off of some! Plus I haven't had a Cat Scan in almost 20 years and it would be nice to have one to see the marble rolling around up there. Make sure it is still there! ;)

Anyway mom is going with me and we are going to have lunch first since it is downtown and there are some nice restaurants down there. Then I will meet with him and see what HE has to say. Nothing lined up for Thurs and then Friday I work for the last time before we leave. Not sure what we have lined up for Saturday either but then we leave at 0 dark thirty on Sunday! Woo Hoo! :)

GOOD MORNING LADIES!:cool1:

My parents are coming home from their winter condo today (they spend the winter in Lake Havasu City, AZ). My mom told me that I'm not going to recognize my dad. I suppose I should prepare myself. But really, how bad could he look after 6 months.:confused3

Anyway, I've got to go to the store and get a few groceries to get them through until tomorrow. (I know they'll be too tired to go to the store today.)

Ryan is doing better. He's still not eating much.....well, hardly at all is more like it. But we'll keeping working on it little by little.

It was snowing here yesterday! Our kids have spring break this week for crying out loud! Where's the spring? Maybe we should buy a snowmobile or some new skiing equipment for all of us.......I'm fairly certain that it would then become 70 degrees and sunshine almost instantly. :goodvibes

Cheryl

I am so jealous!! And for everyone, here's the picture Cheryl sent me:

Definitely a cutie!!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Hi Deb (where is that darn hand waving smiley?????) I'm glad I'm not the only one around tonight!!!

I did a cheater BBQ pork in the slow cooker - just barbecue sauce (homemade or store bought) and a pork roast, then cook it all day on low heat, shred the meat, thicken the sauce, yummy!!

Well does that sound good. What kind of bbq sauce did you use?

Linda~ It sounds like you had a great time. I loved SW when we went 2 years ago. I think I might take the boys in October. hmm...I have AAA, maybe I will get the annual passes.

Heather~ I hope you start feeling better. I love a good deal. Esp with shoes, I think I created a shoe monster...his feet doesn't grow that fast so he has a few pairs of shoes. Beano :lmao:

CD~ I love yoga!!! Its so relaxing, I am cannot believe how much you sweat from it. Have you tried Zumba? My gym just started a class. But due to baseball it will be a while before I can start going.

Capri~ Whaa... :scared1: SNOW??? No way!! It was so nice here yesterday.
I hope Ryan starts feeling better.
