*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Quick hi to all... esp the Vegas girls who are still here. Had a wonderful backstage tour of Disneyland today organized by Pete of Disboards. It was just super. I only wish we had time to stay for the group lunch but the tour ran long so we did not have the time. We grabbed something quick and I got a couple of new Haunted Mansion pins (that are exceptionally cute - they can be ordered online or by phone - I got Madame Liota, the pocketwatch that opens up and the organist.

Hi Bridgette, Dawn, Mel, Tracey and everyone - hope you're having a great weekend. Can't wait to hear the Vegas reports!:yay:

California has the most flippant weather!
Yesterday it was scorching and now it's cold and rainy!
I prefer somewhere in between, like 75 degrees with a light breeze and fair sunshine.

I hope all the Vegas DIS Divas have great time! For some reason Vegas has never really sparked the whole "Ooo...Ahhhh" thought for me. :confused3

My mom is running around getting the house ready for the women's fellowship tonight. I don't know if I'm going to stay home and watch tv while watching Osita or go with my dad and little sister out somewhere.

I need to go shopping with Rochelle..she always finds the cutest things!:goodvibes

Aww... thanks! :goodvibes :cutie:

Oy, if I saw a Juicy purse marked 50% off I would jump on it!!! I'm crazy about Juicy too. Have you been to the outlet in the Camarillo Outlets? I try not to go there often because I spend too much money!

I  Juicy purses and their jewelry. I went to the Juicy outlet in Camarillo last week but I didn't see anything I liked. They do have good sales though and sometimes they add an additional 20 or 30% off, which is really cool. :yay:

If you go to Nordstrom's website, they list some Juicy items that are on clerance. There is also a Nordstrom in T-Oaks. :)

I went back to the Disney Outlet in Camarillo yesterday with my little sister. I found 2 more t-shirts that I liked. The Donald one cracked me up. :rotfl:

Good grief, Kelly. I hope things get better for you and your family. Cheryl said it well! I hope she makes better choices and learns from her mistakes.

Steph--sounds like you had a great time!

I hope all the Vegas Divas are having fun!:cool1:

.............I know I had more to say...I just can't remember it all.:headache:

Hugs to all!!:grouphug::flower3:

Quick check in.

Steph, good to see you. Sounds like you had a great time. :thumbsup2

Well this has been a full day, and it's not over yet. Today was my boys' birthday party. It was a lot of fun for everyone......they all played 18 holes of mini-golf, then pizza/cake/presents, then bumper cars, then everyone received 25 tokens to play video games and collect tickets to get prizes. The party had wrapped up and we were just about to pack up our cars when I receive a call from my brother that our dad just got taken away in an ambulance and was headed for the hospital. He couldn't breath and was going downhill fast. (He's 81 years old and has congestive heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, and a few other ailments.) So I had to hightail it to the hospital, which was conveniently only a few blocks away.

I'm home for just a bit before I head back to the hospital. It looks like he has pulmonary edema. They gave him some meds that hopefully will get rid of the liquid in his lungs. Hopefully things will go smoothly and they'll get him on the mend so he can be home for fathers day. Boy, it SUCKS when your parents get old. You're always waiting for "the call" if you know what I mean. Everytime you get "the call" you think, "This is it." Makes my heart skip a beat everytime. :sad2:

Anyway, I'm headed back to the hospital to check up on things. Take care everyone. Hope you all have a great evening and a super fun father's day tomorrow. :cool1:

Yep--I know too. My Mom can't understand why I freak out when she doesn't answer. (Of course, sometimes she's "busy" if you know what I mean--but I still worry.) I have driven out to her house many times because the phone is off the hook--if it turned out she had fallen or something I would feel terrible that I didn't go and she was lying there--KWIM?

Ok--packing and doing some last laundry. Tomorrow more work and then leaving early Monday morning--trip will be shortened somewhat but at least I won't be totally stressed out--just partially :scared:

Oh, Capri. I hope your dad is on the mend soon and you can all enjoy your fathers day. But I'm glad your boys' party was a hit!

Kelly--hang in there, girl! I hope Lynn gets her act together before it's too late.

Vegas girls--have a blast!

Hi a quick hello!

Vegas bound Divas - Have a great, fabulous time!

The backstage tour was so much fun! Now I know what's behind those walls!
Great to see other Disers, meet Pete and the other Podcast crew, and Donna and husband.

I'm off to the parks...I want to ride Peter Pan and see what's new since the rehab.

Hugs to those who need it! Have a great Sunday and Father's Day!:grouphug:

I have a lot of catching up to do all over this place. Yesterday was my graduation open house and going away party. Last night I started breaking out in hives only around my under arms. Then in the middle of the night my legs were covered and the itching woke me up. This morning it's all on the back of my neck, upper back, and even on my face, ears and in my throat. I've never had anything like this happen. Timing sucks... since I start packing the truck to move on Thursday. I feel awful

Morning all!

Thanks so much January, Tina and Dawn for the thoughts. Every day that I don't get any phone calls is a GOOD day if you know what I mean. For now things are ok. She is down there and so far things are status quo but we are still waiting to hear from the probation people and as I said we don't know how long things will last with this current guy so honestly it is just a matter of dealing with things till she is 18 and on her own to make her own decisions. She wants to be so independent and yet she found out she couldn't even go to the doctor on Friday without our permission. Funny how that works! LOL. She is finding out that she really IS still a child in the eyes of the law. She still can't do much! She needs our permission to do pretty much everything and whether she likes it or not we are STILL responsible for her. But anyway thank you all so much for your thoughts it is MUCH appreciated. You all are so wonderful and thoughtful!! :)

To capri many prayers and thoughts for your dad. I am sure that must be so hard!! Also glad your son's parties went well. Sounds like they had fun!

Bridgette I am sorry for your current illness. Do you think it is nerves? I hope the move goes smoothly! I am sure you will be glad when it is all over and you are out here and all settled! Then you will have us all much closer to "hang" with. :) Take care of yourself!

And Wendy if you see this I was thinking of you. The girls and I were in Target the other day and they had the CUTEST monkey stuff for your bathroom. All these little monkey soap dishes, towels and other stuff. You would LOVE it and it so reminded me of you. If anyone sees this that is going on the trip you will have to tell her! It is SO her!

Anyway we got our meet results this morning and the girls did pretty good. Mostly 41th and 5th places and Katy got a 2nd place in her breast stroke. Pretty decent overall. Unfortunately we are NOT going to the train thing today because after meets I ALWAYS tend to end up with a bad headache between the heat and being on my feet all day in the heat etc. I came home and took a nap but it just didn't go away this time. I told Shane to go ahead and take the girls without me but I could tell he really didn't want to go either. We ALL slept in this morning as we were all beat. And we would have had to get up PRETTY early to get there before the crowds. As much as we all wanted to see it after a LONG day at a meet it was nice to just relax today. I think that is what he REALLY wanted to do for his father's day was just relax and do NOTHING lol. So if I can't get this nasty headache at bay we are going to go have a nice lunch later on and then tonight we have to pick up mom and dad from the airport.

Anyway once again I want to wish ALL the vegas divas a GREAT time. And for those of us that are still here I hope everyone has a great father's day with their spouses or Dad's and for the rest have a wonderful sunday!

I got this off my other website but this is TRUE Disney style.

California girl gets dying wish to see movie 'Up'
June 19, 2009, 2:04 PM EST
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Colby Curtin got her final wish.

The 10-year-old girl desperately wanted to see the new Disney-Pixar movie, "Up." But the cancer-stricken girl was too sick to go to a theater.

Thanks to a family friend who got in touch with the movie studio Pixar, an employee of the Emeryville-based company arrived at Colby's home with a DVD copy of the movie, The Orange County Register reported Friday. The girl died later that night.

Colby's mother, Lisa, said she had asked her daughter if she could hang on until the movie arrived.

"I'm ready (to die), but I'm going to wait for the movie," she said her daughter replied.

"Up" is the animated tale of a grumpy old man who, after his wife's death, tries to fulfill their joint dream of visiting South America by tying thousands of balloons to his house and floating away.

"When I watched it, I had really no idea about the content of the theme of the movie," Colby's mother told the Register. "I just know that word 'Up' and all of the balloons and I swear to you, for me it meant that (Colby) was going to go up. Up to heaven."

Colby, who was diagnosed with vascular cancer in 2005, saw previews for the film in April.

"It was from then on, she said, 'I have to see that movie. It is so cool,'" family friend Carole Lynch said.

But the girl's health began to deteriorate. On June 4, Curtin asked a hospice company to bring a wheelchair so that her daughter could go to a movie theater but the chair was not delivered over the weekend, Curtin said.

By June 9, Colby was too sick to go anywhere.

Another family friend, Terrell Orum, called both Pixar and Disney, which owns the animation studio. The message was received by Pixar officials, who agreed to send someone to Colby's house the next day with a copy of "Up" for a private screening, Orum said.

The employee arrived with the DVD, stuffed animals of characters and other movie memorabilia.

Colby was unable to open her eyes to see the movie so her mother described the scenes. When her mother asked if she enjoyed it, the girl nodded, Curtin said.

The Pixar employee left after the movie, taking the DVD, which has not been released. Lynch, who was with the family during the screening, said the employee's "eyes were just welled up."

A call to Pixar seeking comment was not immediately returned Friday.

Colby, with her parents nearby, died later that night.

Her mother said one of the memorabilia left by the Pixar employee was an "adventure book" based on a scrapbook that, in the movie, is kept by the wife of the main character.

"I'll have to fill those adventures in for her," Lisa Curtin said of her daughter.

What a GREAT story!!

Good morning ladies! I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

A safe trip to everyone who's leaving for Vegas soon. Have a blast everyone!!

Dawn - Thank you for the hugs. You and Wendy are going to LOVE the Lion King. My parents and I saw it at the Pantages a couple years ago and it was beautiful.

Vicki - Backstage sounds soo freaking fun!

Bridgette - I hope you feel better soon. Big hugs for you.

Kelly - Congrats on the girls at their swim meet!! Oh and I read that story about that poor little girl. So sad, it brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks ladies, I don't think its something I ate because I have never had food allergies to anything I ate yesterday. I don't think it's nerves either.... they're everywhere! Now they're in my hairline and on my chest. My dad called me in some steroids and picked them up for me. I'm just taking lots of benedryl, which makes me so sleepy.

I'm sure all of the ladies in Vegas are having a nice time together. I hope those of us at our homes are doing well.

And for those on facebook I've posted about 60 pictures from our vacation. I hope to have lots more posted by the end of the week.
