*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

"I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'll gladly stand up, next to you & defend her still today,
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land...
GOD BLESS THE USA"!!!! (thank you Lee Greenwood)
Thank you for that Laurie. I love that song. :)

Michelle- Safe travels back to SoCal :car:.

Rochelle- Great idea with the patches. I never even thought to buy them by themselves . I may have to do that.

Dawn- Yum, ice cream. Make mine a double please

.

Now I forgot who else I was going to respond to :headache:. If I missed ya, I still love ya.

Well, I need to shower, go to work for a few hours, then come home and make the strawberry sorbet I didn't get made yesterday. (I have an ice cream maker ex-DBF's Mom gave me a couple of years ago and I've never used it.)

I'm learning about puppies . . . . when it gets REALLY quiet I know she's up to no good. Most recently chewing on my houseshoes. LOL--my friend who was here yesterday with the two-year old twins said the same thing--as long as they're banging on their toys no problem--but when it gets quiet . . . . better go check and see what they are doing!

Other than that, not much today. I may take Bella over to friend's house to "meet" their dog.

Hi ladies! Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day! I have no idea what I'm going to do today.. I'm doing laundry right now! Woo! :laundy:

I hope everyone is having a great day.
So far we haven't done much.
I went grocery shopping...
Then Kaeleb & I went to lunch. One of the supervisors from work was there and bought our lunch also. That was very nice of him.
Now I am starting to read Frankenstein....I have an essay to do on it.
Kaeleb is feeling better, so now he is finishing his homework.

Thanks Laurie for the photo! I am about to light a candle in honor everyone who has fought for our freedom, and in memory of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Cheryl, I'm jealous I want an ice cream maker! I hope your sorbet turns out delicious... I could go for some right now.

About 20 min after I posted that I was going to my niece's party, I started turning green and feeling extremely ill and fatigued. My core temp usually runs 97.3, but it's at 100. Bleh I made it through the party and I should take a nap but I am not going to because I took one yesterday and couldn't fall asleep when it was bedtime. I hope it's just a silly flu and not the onset of a kidney stone. That's really the only time I ever get a fever... with stones.

On the bright side, I finally found the invitations for my graduation/going away party. I've been searching everywhere but all of the ones I could find were hokey. I'm glad because they're stationary type invites where I can just print them out from home using photoshop or illustrator.

I hope everyone else is having a relaxing day!

My assistant's daughter called me a couple of hours ago--Francine was admitted as an emergency to the hospital last night and had her surgery this morning on an emergency basis. The mass they had found was cancer and it has spread--her daughter was too upset to know the full extent of where. In any event she will need chemo and other treatments. Please say a prayer for her and her family.

Oh no! I'll definitely have her in my prayers!

Cheryl - Sorry to hear about your assistant. I'll add her to our prayer chain at church!

Today is day 3 of the weekend and I'm still sore from my hike yesterday. I'm so tired that I'm ready to take a nap at any moment. I might go to the gym today but it all depends if I really feel like getting up, getting changed, driving to the gym.yaddayaddayadda... you know the rest.

Today my little sister is sleeping over at the cousins' house and tomorrow the rest of us are going to go over for swim time and some barbecue. Only this week left and I graduate next Friday (6/5).

Have a great, lazy Sunday!

Yay for graduating!!

Wow it seems the 3 day weekend went by so fast. I feel like.. waiiiiitt a minute.. i want a do over.

We are griLLing out again and making sugar free rootbeer ice cream. This is the summer of the griLL and ice cream. Bob is going to try new recipes on the griLL all summer and i'm going to try new ice creams all summer.

See this is the kinda stuff you do when you are empty nesters. :rotfl:

Just make sure you give us the recipes!! Especially if they are yummy!!

Oh yeah, puppies are just like little kids, too quiet means they are up to no good!! I could tell you several funny stories, mostly about Allyson!!

Why am I not surprised that your stories are about Allyson??????

Hello everyone and happy Memorial Day!

Cheryl - I am so sorry to hear about Francine...prayer and thougts to Francine, her family and you!

Dawn - I am with you on the weekend going way too fast! I don't want it to end! We've had a great weekend! But it will be short week because we leave for Vancouver on Friday.

I hope everyone is having a perfectly wonderful day!! Enjoy what is left of it.:goodvibes

Right now I have the part from Shrek where Donkey sings "You've gotta have friends" stuck in my head....

I'm all aloooone.... there's no one here beside meeeee.

I'm bored, sick with a mystery fever and can't move. Small price to pay for hanging out with my nieces all weekend. That's probably how I acquired this illness. Maybe I'll break out the guitar hero... it's quite sad that a 24 year old woman is that good at guitar hero/rock band. I could probably win contests :sad2: That's what happens when you purchase the game and anxiously wait at your parents house for your freshly dumped exDBF of 2 3/4 years to move all of this things out of your apartment with nothing else to do. You beat guitar hero on 'hard'. I don't admit that often. :rolleyes1

Hi everyone! My name is Heather, and I'd like to join your group. :thumbsup2

I feel like I haven't been on here for days. That's kind of a good thing though, been busy, but have been getting a lot done.

I do not have time to catch up right now, and don't know if I ever will, but did glance at this page.

I love the quiet puppy/children stories. They are always fun, I miss my dogs, and my kids are rarely quiet.

Bridgette, I hope you are feeling better, and that your afternoon was fun.

We're not doing much today, Bruce had to work. The boys and I have just been lazy. We did play outside with the water table some. That was fun until Nathan's lips turned blue. It's funny how cold he gets even when the temperature is in the high 80's.

I started back to work, and must say, I miss being home. There is a lot of political stuff going on right now, and I hate that. I'd rather just go to work, do my stuff, and go home. I hope it eases up soon. JACHO is this week, and I think it will settle down down after that.

OK, I'm going to try and read back a few pages now, so I don't feel so out of the loop.

Oh, and Cheryl, I will keep your assistant in my prayers.

Personally, I'm glad the weekend is over. Nothing but bad news.

First the Francine situation.

then a friend here on the Dis had a relative have a stroke.

then I went to work and got an email that a friend of mine in Utah--who had been fighting pancreatic cancer for 22 months--died yesterday. Luckily he'd spent a beautiful day on Saturday with his family (wife and 5-year old daughter) visting friends, his Dad and brother. I knew it was coming but it was still a shock. I expected him to go in the hospital and linger--instead it was over before anyone knew it--which I guess was a blessing in disguise.

So I'm ready for the weekend to be over.

I wish I had the right words to say... All I can say is that you and your friends/families are in my thoughts and prayers.

thank you Steph--did you get to see the space shuttle land yesterday?

And I know that others have generally voiced this, but I want to thank you personally for the sacrifices you and your family make for our country and its citizens.

Cheryl thank you for the kind words.

Yes we were watching the NASA channel as soon as we got up and were able to get over to see it land. Of course my younger 2 weren't too interested but my Selena enjoyed it as did Josh and I. We're hoping they'll open it up to base personnel (they have in the past but it's not always guaranteed) so we can see it up close.

Gosh, Cheryl, I'm so sorry.:hug: But that is three bad things, so you should be ok for a while now. That's what they say, at least.

Hi everyone! My name is Heather, and I'd like to join your group. :thumbsup2

Welcome, Heather! I think you'll really like our group.
You haven't missed any planning, really. But you have missed a lot of important talk about BALLS! Sorry you missed it. :rolleyes1

Bridgette--I hope you start feeling better real soon!

And Beth--Yes, I'm a caterer. We work out of a commercial kitchen near our house. For this party, I did most of the prep and some cooking on Saturday, and then early on the morning of the party we finished everything off and brought it to the location and set everything up. The only BBQing Marty had to do during the party was the veggie skewers and hot dogs.

It's pretty quiet around here lately. I hope everybody is having a great weekend. I'm about to go do some bills:scared1: and watch Twilight .

See you all later.

Ditto to what Cheryl said...we owe you all so much for everything you do to keep us safe and free!

So very cool that you were able to see the Shuttle land. We heard the 'boom' and instantly turned on the TV to see it land and I thought of you and was hoping that you were able to see it!

Vicki - I'm sad our Nuggies lost. :(

Yep very sad!:sad2: We'll see how they do tonight! However it turns out I think they've done a great job and have held their own against the Lakers. I even work my Denver Nugget polo today...I was afraid I might get beat up in the park bathroom but I was ok! ;)

Hope you feel better! Nothing wrong with a little guitar hero to make a girl feel better!;)
