*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Good afternoon ladies! I thought I was missing a lot since I didn't come on yesterday, I guess everyone had a busy Saturday.

I'll catch up later tonight. I have to get ready, we're going to lunch at my grandparent's house.

Have a great Sunday girls! :)

Well, I'm all caught up. Easy to do since it was super slow here this weekend. One of those rare times when everyone has a life I guess. ;)

I woke up at 6 this morning and decided to make more balls! They've been a hit with everyone who's tried them so far, so I wanted to make different varieties to send in with Ruben to work.

I made 5 cakes this morning. :faint:

Red Velvet cake blended with cream cheese frosting.

French Vanilla cake blended with vanilla frosting.

Pineapple cake with pineapple pieces, coconut and macadamia nuts, blended with coconut frosting.

Carrot cake with raisins, pecans, and coconut, blended with cream cheese frosting.

Yellow cake blended with chocolate buttercream frosting.

Some cakes were from scratch, some a mix. Same with the frosting.

I am freezing the balls now and then I'm going to bag them up and dip a different one each day this week to send in to his work. We'll see which ones they like best.

Here is a pic of the ones I made the other day. I experimented with size, and I prefer the bite size ones. I have no clue if this is what they are supposed to look like or not. LOL And I need a better way to drizzle the topping over the balls. But for the first time, I think they came out ok. :confused3 (They tasted good anyway, even if they look funny.)
One is cut open to show the inside.

Anyway, enough ball talk. I hope you all have a good day today!! Catch ya later. :)

Beth - you wanna come to my place and make my guys some balls?? It's nice and cool here............. They would love you forever (no way can I bake - not a good plan :sad2:)

They look yummy. How did you do the drizzle? Cone?
Cone? :confused3
I just used a spoon to drizzle the melted white chocolate which is why it looks kind of funky.

Today when I did the red velvet cake ones, I melted the white chocolate then poured it into a sandwich baggie, but the teeniest bit off one end, and used that to drizzle it.
It was much easier, and turned out much more uniform and professional looking. :thumbsup2

You can do it! :yay:

They better. LOL We had nine kids in here last night dancing, singing, laughing and screaming for three hours. Oy!

Ah, but it was so much fun. The kids had a blast!! They played guitar hero, then danced, ate pizza, and danced some more. At one point they discovered how highlighter markers shows up really cool under the black light so they were drawing graffiti all over their arms and holding it under the black light. :rotfl2:

I also have this nail polish that goes on clear, but glows under the black light, so the girls all did their nails. They were trying to convince the boys to do it too, but they weren't having it. lol

I think their favorite though was the strobe light. They had so much fun putting it on different settings, cranking up the fog machine and then making funny dances. :lmao: I just sat there and watched, laughing my butt off the whole time.

The neat thing was seeing the two older teen boys, who naturally are just too cool for anything, really getting into it. Especially when we played the YMCA song and ALL the kids, even the rap/rock music loving boys, screamed out the lyrics and did the motions. That was neat. Kids are still kids, no matter how cool they pretend to be. :goodvibes

Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. I have more homework to do today.

Beth! Those look great! I would eat one. :thumbsup2 If you get my name in the next exchange, I know what you can send me. popcorn::

I put my melted chocolate in a ziplock baggie, close it, snip a corner, and squeeze. You have to be sure that you cut the corner very small. More will come out than you think!

Aww, so sweet of you Bridgette!
Also I'm glad to hear the ebay selling went well. :thumbsup2

HOLY COW!

I just checked my ebay ..... are you ready.... $607 in profit just in the last week. Are you KIDDING ME?! Can you say J-A-C-K-P-O-T?! :cool1::woohoo:

so SoCal ladies--did you all feel the earthquake!!!!!!!???????

Dawn and her DH are at the Festival Wine event--wonder if they felt it since they're outside?

I felt it. Heck, went running for the door jam in my jammies. Taylor was just getting in the shower, she hopped out real quick.

You ok?

I'm good too--Bella was a little frightened. Otherwise all is well--the cats take it in stride--called my Mom and she's ok.

5.0 earthquake epicentered in the Lennox area.

I am glad you guys are ok!

Cheryl glad your mom was ok too!

I have lived here for 13 years and still haven't felt an earthquake. It isn't that we haven't had one, I apparently am too much off on my own planet to notice a little earth shaking. We've never had a big one, but everyone at work will be talking about it, and nope.....didn't notice a thing.

What does that mean about me?

I found out something alarming on Satruday. My boss just sold her business. I only found out because I was still at work far after work hours working on charts, and in she comes with the buyer's dad and an inspector. She never even told us she was selling.

Now, don't get me wrong, the place could SERIOUSLY use some new management, but don't know what this will mean for my job. I work part time, he apparently said he will keep everyone, but talk is cheap. I am trying not to freak out, because there is nothing I can do to alter the course, but egads!!! I was going to finalize our plans to go to WDW during free dining in the fall....not a good idea if I am jobless!!!:scared1:

I am the only one at work who knows...and I am sworn to secrecy until the rest of the staff is notified. I am about to EXPLODE with the knowledge.

It will be really hard to get a new job since I am so old....places don't want to pay for my experience and/or think I am behind the times.

I guess I am telling you guys since I really need some hand-holding!!

I could have sworn my bed shook. My parents didn't notice anything.

It was a 5.0 centered near Hawthorne.

First off......yes, you must be in you own planet to have never felt an earthquake after being here so long.

Second, don't freak out. Whatever is gonna happen will happen. But in my experience, when a doctor sells the practice, they generally do tend to keep the staff. It makes it easier to transition the new doctor in if the old faces are still around. You work will speak for itself. And after some of the things you have told me, it will be good to have a new person in charge.

So this is your virtual hand holding. Good luck!

I know. It's crazy. I was in target once and everyone around me was like, whoah...did you feel that? My phone is ringing, my DH...did you feel that> Again, no. THat one was apparently pretty impressive, but I was holding a temper tantrum 18 month old at the time, so I am blaming it on that!!!

Thanks Stacie. Truly, that is what I want to hear. I have a very strong client base, bring in lots of money and am the absolute favorite of the staff, so you'd think I'd feel more comfortable. But yes, new management will be a godsend!!!

Hey..I am pretty excited about your graduation!! Congrats and all that!!! I think yoiur wee giftie will be getting in the mail on Tuesday!!!

I'm with Stacie--this may actually be a good thing. Question--why was the buyer's Dad there? do you know who the buyer is?

All the good vets are soo busy. You will be fine. No matter what, people want to take care of their pets.

We were at a friend's house in Santa Monica by the beach, Dh was in the bathroom. I heard this noise like someone with a dolly or lawn mower on the roof, and my friend who lives there didn't notice a thing.

My Dh thought it was a quake but nothing was shaking. It wasn't until we heard the news that we knew for sure.

I lived through the northridge quake - wasn't pretty. Building red-tagged from the damage.

I get notices of quakes and Alaska has had several big ones for the past few days that made me nervous...
