Sully - Me - Disney planner, some say Disney Fanatic
Andie - Best Friend, also loves Disney

Preliminary:

My DH went on a golf trip in March with the guys and said why don't to and Andie go to WDW and he would redo the bathroom. This is great!!

Made plans to stay at Dixie Landings, ooops sorry, Port Orleans Riverside. When on one Friday in February discount rates came out and we got to stay at WL. I have stayed here before but Andie had not. So we made our plans, we were flying Southwest, direct non-stop from Albany to MCO, flight departing at 7:40, 7 night stay at WL, Tiffany Town Car picking us up, we are all set. Cannot wait to go.

Finally the week before we are to leave, all packed. The week before it is in the 80's.

Friday am we leave the Berksires at 4:30, it has snowed the night before and it is snowing again. Luckily it is not sticking to the ground. The Girls are headed out for Disney, or as we have come to call ourselves GAD (Girls at Disney). Our significant others both got up and wished us well, I guess they are going to miss us, that's nice.

There are no lines at the airport and check in was smooth. We ate banana bread as a picnic at the gate. We were the first to line up and did get pretty good seats on the first come first serve basis.

The flight left on time and it was a smooth flight. We landed early and there terminal was crowded, lots of young adults. Met some girls who were on their class trip.

Jack of Tiffany Town Car met us at the bottom of the escalator. For security reasons the town cars can no longer park near the exit, they have to park in a location and walk to get to the meet us. We got our luggage and headed down stairs to wait for Jack. It was warm and humid. Jack picked us up and out the South exit of the airport. I like going this way. We stopped at Albertsons supermarket, (next to Home Depot) for our styrofoam cooler, milk, juice, fruit, etc. Jack suggested the liquor store, next door, if we were inclined. Well, we got our Bailey's and we were off to the Lodge.

Jack had to show our reservations to the gatekeeper at the MK gate. He stopped and took our picture under the archway at the entrance to the lodge. We got to the lodge and our room was ready. Yippeee. We were tired from being up since 3:00 ish. We had room 5001. We had requested MK view, but this room faces the lake, Discovery Island and trees. We tried to change rooms but there were no other rooms available. Does this mean it's that crowded? This room also has slats for railings, so you cannot sit out and see. We did come to love the room. You could see the geyser going off through the trees and the walkway to the boat dock.

We were anxious to get going, so our original plan to lounge at the pool, flew out the window. (More about the window later, tee hee). We changed into summer clothes and went to Roaring Forks for lunch. Fish and Chips, not bad. We walked around the lodge, outside and explored. It is beautiful here. Walked over to the villa's, then remember I had to call home, left message we are here and it is still beautiful.

Off to the bus stop, we're going to EPCOT to activate our AP's. Hit the cow bell on the way out of the lodge. We walked right up to Guest Relations and no problem activating the passes. Had quick security check of our fanny packs and we are inside. It's so pretty the topiaries for the 100 years. Breath taking. Took pictures and tired to find DH & I leave a legacy, I know right where it is. Oh no, it is hard to find, luckily we'll be back and I do have the location written down. There's the topiary of Steamboat Willie, more pictures.

Went on Space Ship Earth, maybe we were tired, but I did not find the beginning distracting as others have. Off the ride and over to the Fountains, they are running. Wonderful, my last three trips the fountains were dry due to water shortage. Headed over to the short cut to the land and saw some of the 'garden show' that was going on. We then went to the Land and watched Food Rocks. First time for Andie, kind of loud, but good show and hardly anyone in the theatre. Remember we are tired, up stairs to the Passholders lounge, this is nice and relaxing, but this is our first day and we are anxious to get going. We then headed to World Showcase, by the rose garden path. All the flowers are beautiful, but looks like some have passed. It is hot. We head to Mexico and walk around inside, then get margarita's, and continue to America. We want to try to catch Orleans. We stop at Norway for a picture of the Troll Topiary. There are many beautiful topiaries along the way. We see Flower, from Bambi and others. They are great.

Well we finally get to America, and we get a turkey leg for dinner. We see the first viewing of Tapestry of Dreams. I haven't seen Dreams yet, very similar to Nations and just as good. It's hot and we are tired, we just can't make it til Orleans comes out so we decide to head back to WL. It starts to thunder as we are by France. And then starts to sprinkle. By the time we are at the bus stop, it's raining.

Now for my first dissapointment. Our bus goes to Fort Wilderness. We are sharing a bus with FW? This is not right. The other times I've stayed at WL, the busses were shared with Poly and GF. This is not right. I am discouraged about this til the end of the trip. boo hoo :=(

Well we get back to the Lodge and the storm has passed, we change into our suits and go hit the hot tub. Yes, they still have one hot one and one not as hot one.

We're in bed before 11. It's been a long day, but we are GAD (Girls at Disney)

Tomorrow (Saturday) - MGM and LaNouba
