I've been reading things about giving the flight crew a small appreciation gift. As someone who also works a thankless job, I love this idea. Thinking just a bag of lindors and a note.

Does anyone do this? At what point do you offer? Do I just leave on my seat when we depart?

Sadly in these days an unattended package (even of what appears to be chocolates) left behind on an airplane could cause a lot of issues. It would likely be found by the cleaning crew and not the flight crew.

A simple heart felt thanks to the crew as you deplane is a great option.

Or a handful of Tim’s gift cards to give them on the way out.

Hi Hon
This is what I do
I attach a *Thanks for the great service* tag to the back of a $5 Starbucks card. I pack 4 for departures and 4 for arrivals.
It's just my way of showing my appreciation.

Here's a set I made for you.
Feel free to use.

Hugs Mel

No. No. and if you want I guess?

I just don't see the point - they are highly trained licensed professionals doing a job. Do you tip your plumber? Lawyer? Doctor? Electrician?

The tip inflation + tip everyone culture this country is developing has got to go.

My opinion anyways, do what you want.

Guess I am going to disagree here...
I see a very Me Me Me culture around me... as an Educator /Mom/ and Nana I always try to encourage my kids to give.

The Pandemic has caused so much heartache in people's lives that a bit of kindness and Joy goes a long way.

Yeah I did give out some Starbucks cards to my Landscaping guys a week ago because they were taking ALOT of abuse from residents
regarding *No Mow May*,,,the management company made that decision ,,not the Landscapers.

Time to rewind and be kind!

JMHO (Just My Honest Opinion).

I agree with the be kind sentiment, but being kind doesn't need to include giving. It's leading to a culture where people are expecting to be given things. A heartfelt thank you and a smile is showing kindness and appreciation.

Yep
I agree you do not have to give anything (monetarily) to actually show your kindness or appreciation,,,, but a Thank-you & a Smile go a long way to make someone's day.
Everyone has a choice in how they choose to show their Kindness & appreciation.
I was just sharing my way. Your way sounds good to.

Hugs

I think some little thing distinctive of your home area might be appreciated.

I used to give photo magnets years ago of Kansas sunsets over the prairies. (Hey! Those wide open skies were about all the scenery we had where I lived.)

When I was a child, bus drivers and flight crews seemed to enjoy photos or Hoop Dee Doo corny jokes on postcards with a short thank you on back.

A Disney friend from Alaska whose son whittles gives small wooden Christmas ornaments of Alaskan wildlife.

I started reading about the gifts and instantly thought it sounded awesome. The few times I've flown in the past we are zombies of "thanks, thanks, thanks" as everyone leaves the plane, minds on what's to come. If i were an attendant, I'd have it tuned it out long ago. My thoughts were what can I offer that will help them know someone truly noticed and appreciated the hard work.

To the reverse I didn't want anyone thinking I'm fishing for freebies, as it seems that is also a common thing for some. I have no problem passing cards or a bag of chocolates directly to someone as I exit.

We have done it before, it was near Valentines day and we gave a bag of chocolates when we boarded, the flight attendants were so appreciative! I don't think they expect it, and I don't consider it as like a "tip", I just think it's a nice thing to do for people that work in an industry that has had to deal with a lot during the pandemic. I know that they aren't alone but I just don't see anything bad about doing something nice :-)

I always bring chocolate-covered espresso beans from a local boutique chocolate shop in my city. We usually fly business class, and one of the FAs typically comes by for a drink order just prior to take off. I give it to that FA, and ask them to share. Every time they've gone absolutely NUTS and loved it. We've only taken one flight recently (since C19), but nobody seemed opposed to sharing - in fact they were even more excited than previous crews.

For the outbound flight, we bring a box of See's candy with us and hand it off to the FA when boarding the plane. On our return flights we will grab some candies from a local shop and hand it off to the FA when boarding. Nothing fancy, just a token of appreciation.

I agree and also agree people should do what they want.
It reminds me of all-inclusive resorts. Everything is supposed to be included but people started tipping and now it’s always expected. I can’t stand the tip everyone for everything culture.
