Gift Suggestions for 88 yo woman?

Does she get her hair done every week? If so perhaps you can get gift certificates from her hairdresser. I did this for my mom last year and she loved it.

I second this idea- I always gave my grandma a gift certificate to her favorite hair salon. She loved that!

I work in a nursing home and one gift that is always a hit are those "flowers for a year" that are delivered. It gives the residents at the home something to look forward to each month. I think most of the big florist chains do this...each arrangement symbolizes something special about that particular month. They are costly but do put smiles on peoples faces~

I know this sounds a bit boring, but I always get my grandmother a gift certificate to Wal-Mart so she can pick up some of her prescriptions, and a gift certificate so her and some of her friends can go to one of their favorite restaurants.

I think my Gma's favorite gift from me was a TALKING PICTURE FRAME. She just has to push the button on the front to hear my kids' sweet little voices. We change the message each time we visit. They say "We love you Gma" OR "Merry Christmas Gma" Or they could even sing a couple lines of a Christmas song on it. (I think it records for 10 - 15 seconds is all) She showed it to everybody at Bingo!

I got my 87 yr old grandmother a DVD player.

I am hoping to make a DVD of the family.

You guys are really making me miss my grandmother.

I never know what to get my husband's grandmother. I usually get her a couple of Barbie ornaments and something else, but that something else is really bothering me this year. We haven't spent any time with her to speak of, and she really isn't able to do much for herself anymore.

A couple of years ago, I bought her a collection of John Wayne movies on video. She had complained that the TV never had that sort of thing on it.

That same year, she cross-stitched pillow cases for me and put lace on the edges. It was such an incredible gift that reminded me of my grandmother, who used to do that sort of thing all the time. She made me cry!

We got our 88 yr old grandma her yearly thomas kincaid calendar and some of those slippers with a hard bottom and sherling lined. She likes to walk outside to get the mail and paper and this way she won't have to worry about getting them wet.

Last year several of us gave my dh's 95 year old Grandma a donation to her Adult Sunday School at her church in her honor. They bought a light for the piano and Grandma was so pleased.
