Please help this clueless Uncle  with ideas for my twelve year old niece. I'm looking for a 50 - 75 dollar price range. Any help would be much appreciated! :wave2:

A gift card would be great and she would love it. Target, Walmart or Kmart for that sum since they have a wide variety of things.

Our mall offers a Mall Gift Card. It can be used at any store in the mall. My 12yo DD would love that.

A gift card to Limited Too or Claire's is always good.

Digi Makeover by Radica is "hot" for that age group.

My sister just bought her 12 year old niece a 20A game. She loved it, my sister had to go out and buy herself one!
They are only about $20 or less but would be a nice little gift to add to a gift card.
I was also thinking movie theatre gift cards. Kids that age love going to the movies.

My daughter is 11 and LOVES Limited Too and Claire's also-
On my DDs 11th birthday her favorite gift was a GC for 2 manicures and her grandmother took her to the appointments- The 1st time she got a fancy manicure with little gems on her nails- the second time she got a nice French manicure (They were only $10 each). Maybe a GC for a manicure along with a nice manicure set and some nail polish.
I think you should ask her parents- I know as my kids get older there are so many things they want and I can only get them so much- so when someone- like an aunt or uncle asks me - I am happy to give them ideas.

My 11 1/2 year old goddaughter asked for a gift card to Claire's.

Wow, my dd must be more of a tomboy than I thought LOL

My dd still plays with LPS stuff (Littlest Pet Shop) and Bratz, Barbies, Disney Mix Stix....etc. She loves movies and other things too, but hasn't mentioned a manicure or Limited Too on her Christmas list.

Maybe ask her mother/father what is on her list? I know sometimes I wish people would ask more and not just buy a bunch of stuff that they 'think' she'll like. It's so hard to judge what a child is in to just based on an age and the sex of the child. My dd gets a lot of mature things that don't really fit her personality at all, like makeup or glitzy clothing. I always hate to ask givers to return things though, as the thought is appreciated, I just hate for people to waste money on things that she'll never wear.

I always wanted to go in Limited Too or Gymboree and buy clothing for her, with cute bows for her hair and tights...etc. But I found out after a few outfits that mom liked, that she will not wear them so why bother LOL

My DD is 12. While we will always have a few "real" presents for her to unwrap, her favorite things have been GC's.

Great places are...local mall, a visa gift card, limited too, American Eagle. Claire's. In our area, there is a wonderful Goodwill store, so for my DD, she would even love one from there. The only stores, speaking from experience with my DD to avoid are Gap, and Lands End, because they just don't have clothes in Jr. sizes.

:goodvibes I'll add my input because I have 2 dds - an 11 y/o and a 12 y/o. I can tell you that my dd thinks Limited Too is no longer "cool". She says it's for "little kids" - (Like she's sooo old!) Anything Ipod is huge. Vera Bradley is REALLY popular and would fit right into your range. Also, stores like American Eagle, Hollister or even Aeropostale. Keep us posted. I'd love to hear what you choose and what she thinks. This age is dear to my heart!!!

My oldest is in the age range and is starting to out grow Limited Too also, she prefers more teen type stores such as Hollister, aeropastle, etc. BUt she would love a gift card

My 12 year old daughter loves to 'wear' make-up and fix her hair. The department stores always have the buy a cologne and get a make-up kit for such and such $$. Maybe you could buy a fragrance for someone and then buy the make-up kit-2 birds with 1 stone. Abercrombie and Hollister are favorite clothing stores of my daughter and her friends.

My 12yr old has out grown Limited Too, but loves abercrombie & Hollister. She also likes Vera Bradley, she has an overnight bag and wants a make-up bag for Christmas & billfold. :wizard:

I would be kinda scared if my 12 year old was "too cool" for Limited Too!? :scared:

12 is still a child...

Another idea, perfume from abercrombie or Hollister (which is about $15) & add a $50 gift card. She will think you are the coolest uncle!

I have a 12 year old sister, some things on her list....digital camera, cash, anything from Hollister. Girls this age love to be at the mall, so I'd say you can't go wrong with a GC to the local mall.

My DD10 would agree with this poster!!! She just added the Vera Bradley ditty bag to her list of VB stuff to use for carrying her gym uniform back and forth.

I am happy to be out of the Limited Too stage...expensive and just not my taste at all!

I was always under the impression that Hollister clothing is a bit too mature for 12 year olds? Am I wrong because some of the ads I have seen..

Obviously, you've never been to Limited Too. They're clothes, as mentioned, are expensive, and many even trashy for the sizes they are marketing to. So, I'm thrilled that my girls are over Limited Too. Please, don't judge. That's not what this thread was about.

My DDis 12 and although she has never said she is "too cool" for Limited 2, she is too big. I always bought it at Gabes so it wasn't too expensive, but now she wears a size 3 or 5 in Jr. and a size 11 or 12 shoe.

My advice to the OP is don't buy clothes, unless you ask the style, color, and size. GC are good, or maybe a Visa or Discover GC that can be used anywhere. My DD would love that, thinking she has her own credit card.

The one thing she keeps asking for, that I won't get, is a cell phone. But, again, this is something I would clear with Mom & Dad, first.

If you live close, how about wrapping up a "Day with Uncle _____" certificate, then the week between Christmas and New Years, take her shopping, to dinner, the movies, ice skating, anything she enjoys.
