I was always under the impression that Hollister clothing is a bit too mature for 12 year olds? Am I wrong because some of the ads I have seen..
Only if you think that blue jeans,t-shirts,and sweaters are too mature. Seriously, there's nothing risque about the clothes at Hollister.

I asked my 12 year old. She says:

Pokemon or Nintendogs or Mario game for DS
Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero
Gift card from GameStop or Hot Topic
Tickets to Edward Scissorhands ballet in Los Angeles
Tickets to Wicked
The new Gorillaz DVD
Collection of Johnny Depp movies
Collection of Green Day CDs
New iRiver MP3 player, they're like iPods but they cost less and don't break as much.
Pants with straps all over them from Hot Topic
Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 action figures/statuettes, especially the Sephiroth one and the most beloved of beloveds, Riku.
Any movie with Rain (Bi) in it.
The movie "Duelist", because Sad Eyes looks like Riku and is so dark/emo/cool
Gift subscription to Runescape
World of Warcraft.
New wheels for my skateboard.

Thus endeth her brainstorming, and my typing whilst chuckling.

You might want to be a little more clear on what niece is into. Is she a fashion club girl? A rocker chick? A goth babe? A gamer? A geek? Is she into sports?

My almost 12 yo asked for, Ugg boots, clothes from Abercrombie, DVD's, Silver bracelets (Preferably a Tiffany bracelet which she is NOT getting), a new Vera Bradley bag, and a cookbook :confused3 .

If she doesn't have one you could get her a camera and photo album.

Around here Limited Too is cool for 12 yr olds. Vera Bradley she would hate. Target/Walmart/etc. She can choice music, dvds, toys, clothes, make up, anything!

I would be kinda scared if my 12 year old was "too cool" for Limited Too!? :scared:

12 is still a child...
I totally get what you are saying, but I think it is more of a "kids store" thing. They start at size 6. I think it is more of the idea of still shopping at a kids store that they are too "cool" for. Most of the stuff they sell there looks just like what you could get at a teenager store so I am sure they just buy the same exact stuff at a different store!

Obviously, you've never been to Limited Too. They're clothes, as mentioned, are expensive, and many even trashy for the sizes they are marketing to. So, I'm thrilled that my girls are over Limited Too. Please, don't judge. That's not what this thread was about.

I've been to Limited Too. It's probably not obvious to you because you don't know me or my whereabouts.
Please, don't judge. That's not what this thread is about.

The rate at which girls want to grow up today is alarming. Showing concern is not judging; I referenced MY DD in my post.

I regard Limited Too as a "big step" from little girl to 'tween. It's sad that MY DD might think of Limited Too as uncool at age 12.

I'm concerned about MY daughter. You only get to be a kid once.

DNeice 12 is getting a cookbook and earrings from http://www.silverjewelryclub.com/ from me, and a necklace from my mom. I'd go with jewelry, but 12 year olds are all different. Bath and Body Works are good too (maybe their perfume).

Well I have a 12 yr old DD and on her list this year is:

Ipod Nano
DS Lite
Idog
Giftcards to Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle or Aeropostale
Clothes from the above mentioned
Ugg Boots
Jewelry
and some books

But if it wasn't my daughter I would give a gift card they will love it. They love the mall, movies and being with their friends.

My DD12 is all about the music! If your 12 year old already has an Ipod or MP3 player, get her a GC for downloadable music (iTunes, Wal-mart, etc.). Also Gameboy games or taking her out for a special time out to dinner wo/mom & dad? Good luck! :thumbsup2
