Hi Folks
Hope you can help

I have a new sil and her 3 kids for the holidays this year. I wanted to get or make a personalized gift for my bil, sil and their 6 kids. Any thoughts where I can get something or make something.

I would like to get something that can sit on their mantle or table with all their names.

I knew if anyone had ideas it would be my dis buddies.
Thanks for any ideas.

With a new blended family - what about a GC for a family portrait, and then a custom frame that has their names on it? (Personally - I would have a frame made because I'm not that good with doing names on things...but since you asked for ideas on what to make - decoarting a frame for the portrait might be fun!)

What about ornaments with everyones names on them and the year? Or you could "adopt" a tree or animal in the families name. I know that some zoo's will do this and will send you a picture of the animal that you ahve "adopted" for the year. The zoo that we lived near started their prices at a reasonable price and it went up form there depending on the size/rarity of the animal.

I have an inexpensize, but cute, gingerbread man/woman pattern. I trace the pattern (in pencil) onto the brown kraft paper or a brown paper bag. Big ones for the mom and dad, then smaller ones for each of the kids. Then, outline the gingerbread, close to the pencil line, in a scalloped pattern with white craft paint (looks like icing). Then add/glue a hairbow to the girls and a bow tie to the boys. I use scraps of fabric, tie a simple knot, then trim to fit. Last, I print, with a fine-tip Sharpie black marker, each person's name onto the "leg" or "skirt" of the gingerbread person. Lastly frame, in an appropriate sized frame. Hand-made, personal and always enjoyed. I also do these on gift bags!

Is this a Christmas gift? If so, how about a personalized Christmas ornament with all their names on it? I know Lenox makes ornaments that can be personalized with each family member's name on it. Sometimes over the holidays the malls have kiosks with ornaments that can be personalized too. My mom used to give all our families personalized ornaments every year, and we all loved them.

Make a photo wreath!

I made them for everyone in my family last year and they loved them! You take a plain wreath from a craft store, add bows and ribbon, then tie on 10-20 little photo frame ornaments filled with pics of their family.
