I don't have any good MIL stories because I have never been married. The only terrible gift I can think of the moment is for my 12 birthday my dad got me a birthday card that said "Happy 3rd Birthday."
I have a twin sister who is a littler closer to my dad then I am. One year (when we were way younger) he got her a boom box (popular present that year). I got a stuffed animal. Yep no favortism there.
***before someone jumps to my dad's defense, no he didn't buy it for her thinking we were going to share. Even though we were twins, no one expected us to share, we always got our own stuff. Everyone in the family did a great job making sure we got equal presents (except for my dad).

, but 2 years ago my mom gave me a nice ring/jewelry box...inside was three Goobers (chocolate covered peanuts) stuck together in the shape of a Mickey head.
She said she was eating them out of the bag and that one fell out all stuck together in the perfect pose...and she thought of me.
I got other stuff too, but the Goobers are the only thing that I remember!

I can't wait to see what I'll get this year?
Oh and a pair of peds used slippers. Just what a 38 yr old mom wants. Used peds and a used phone book. Good hell no wonder I'm happy single.
Merry Christmas to you all.

Before the falling out I had with my MIL, she would ask my DH what I wanted for Xmas or birthdays. He would tell her a specific item - like LL Bean slippers, this style, this size, this color. I never got what he told her - she chose what she wanted and I have either given all her gifts away to charity or sold them on ebay. I just don't understand how someone can think that they can pick a better gift for you than you yourself can?
