Well we had my DH's Christmas family party and guess what we got from his parents. 3 boxes of chocolates that EXPIRED 5 months ago. That is it. The other thing is that DH and I do not like chocolate. She told my DH that I would be proud of her because it was on sale. She knows that I only shop sales. I do love my sales, but I also check the date if it is food, guess she did not think to do that or maybe she did and thought that it would be ok. I just don't get some people

How nice!!

My girls got their presents from their dad in the mail yesterday. He sent them each an ugly t shirt (their words, not mine) and a $25 gift card. He has a good job, just got a huge bonus at work, barely pays any child support at all, so it's not like he couldn't have sent them more.

He's just so dang cheap it makes me crazy...

expired chocolate. Save it and regift it to her at Valentine's day or a birthday.

Two years ago my MIL got me a facial hair trimmer!! :lmao: :lmao: The only thing that made we feel better is that she got one for my SIL, too.

SIL and I have gotten cellulite cream and various hair removal products. MIL figured that since she enjoyed the product herself, she would get us the same thing. While I appreciate the thought, I wonder if she feels that I am a hairy woman with cellulite:lmao:

My MIL got me a Pillsbury Doughboy napkin holder because she said I looked like the Pillsbury Doughboy when I was pregnant. My youngest is 13 y.o. so they have been amused by this joke for 13 years! :sad2:

At least you got a gift.

When MIL found out I was going on vacation (last week) she moved up Christmas to occur while I was gone.
*I realize I cannot be entirely sure her reasoning for moving it up was because I would be out of town, but she didn't do it until she knew I was going to be gone soooo*

..so I've been excluded from Christmas entirely.

...i'm with the person who suggested regifting!

I always get clothes that are either sized xxs or xxl, neither of which are my size!!!

If you expect nothing, you'll never be dissapointed.

Now that I've gotten off my high horse, I thank God that I have a wonderful MIL!

Don't feel bad my DH got a super ugly sweater from his father that looked like it came straight out of the late 70's early 80's. Never would he wear a sweater like that nor would we even know where to find such a thing. We were only in grade school back then and we are def not the type to wear such "vintage" stuff. lol

One year I got a broom and a copy of Wicked.

Plus some dessert scented bubble bath with a note: Thought you could bath in it instead of eating it.

Wow, that's harsh!

My MIL has been gone for over 5 years now, but I have to say, even tho she drove me crazy sometimes, she never got me a bad gift. She was the type to ask me what I wanted instead of leaving it to chance. Now that she is gone, I really miss her, especially when DH is driving me nuts!

What an interesting thread, I wonder what's coming next.

I guess I am very lucky. My MIL drives me nuts sometimes (I do the same to her ;)) but she always gets us great gift. We got a tv one year, this year we are getting a playtable/coffee table for our living room and I know she will get us a couple of little things. She also has always bought great b-day gifts. I have gotten cookbooks, gift certs etc. I would die if she gave me expired chocolates...DIE!

Here's a strange one. MY DM got my DH a 12 pack of Heineken and me? She got me a box of religiously inspired teas????? What kind of message is that supposed to send???:lmao:

Wow that bubble bath one seemed just plain nasty! My MIL wasn't around long enough, the only thing she did was consistantly misspell my name despite my writing it very large and clear on several birthday, mothersday and Christmas cards. I was pretty sure she knew what she was doing, but at least she didn't send me offensive gifts.

My sister once sent me a Christmas card with a note inside "Maybe if you're good Santa will bring you a man." I was floored she could be so rude and assume I needed a man... I was maybe 20 or 21 at the time.

That is harsh. Last year my MIL got my kids a McDonald's Gift card...something (don't remember for my DH) and nothing for me. She said she didn't have the money to spend on me...she did get her other sons' wives presents though....hey OP can I buy that expired chocolate off you for my MIL???
