We would like to get a gift for my DD teacher. I will spend up to
$20 to buy her something. Any suggestions? I am planning on
going to most of the parks at Disney.

Thanks for any help

We did really well in Epcot. For one teacher who is a Beatles nut, we got her a small china container for clips or anything, with a picture of the Beatles on the front. It was less than $12, and she has it on her desk and loves it. The other teacher loved tea, so in England in Epcot we got her a collection of teas that was around $14 or so. That was already wrapped in a small basket with a plaid bow.

Also, don't forget that if you are staying on site and you don't wait until the last day, you can easily have any shop deliver your packages right to your room. This worked really well for the many mugs I bought for friends.

Have fun!

and brother of teachers.....DO NOT get anything for a teacher that has the sterotypical "apple" or "schoolhouse" design going for it. Whereas some things with this are cute, they get these things from most students, every year and for many years. They both really appreciate something for them (teas, gift certificates) or for the class room (neat books, models, etc.).

I have used the delivery to the room and it was great. That way
we could still ride rides without carrying around the extra load.

I guess I need to find out what she likes. But I would still like
to hear from others what they gave to DD/DS teacher.

This teacher can tell you--posters for decorating the room! Also, I am a K teacher and I bought the adorable Happy Birthday hat! My kids can't wait until their B-day, so that might be a good idea for early elementary teachers!

We got our son's teachers several character notepads/sticky pads and character pens (they can always use lots of these so u can't go wrong) and the canisters of coffee. Also, our younger son's teacher (the wonderful person she is!!) suggested instead of a gift for her, a gift for the class. We got character shaped cookies and hot chocolate mixes and the character gummy candy thingies to share at snack time. The kids and teacher loved it!!

I am buying for a third grade teacher. But the hat would have
been great for last year. That teacher made sure that everytime
someone in the class had a birthday they would be the star of
that week. It really made the children feel special. Poster is a
good idea. Maybe something in Epcot about other countries.

i bought my dd's teachers the american flag mickey pin from epcot. they all loved it!

The pin would be a great idea. I like everyones suggestions!! I was totally lost on giving a gift to the teacher. Kapp thank you for telling what not to buy. I am guilty. I like the pens and pads to give to the teacher too. You guys have really helped me out lots. Thanks you so much....

I am a Christmas nut and started buying Christmas ornaments for DD's dance, sports and school instructors years ago. It's not that expensive and you can tailor the ornament for the teacher's interests. For example, we try to track down balerina ornaments for dance teachers...a beautiful ceramic shoe for a teacher who was shoe and chocolate crazy (a small godiva tucked inside).

DD and I have alot of fun looking for that "perfect" ornament. At Downtown Disney, the Christmas store has ornaments you can personalize and they are beautiful.

I've had teachers over the year tell me how special getting an ornament was...every Christmas when they put it on the tree, they remember my child. My grandma was a teacher, so I know how much appreciated "lasting" gifts can be.

Hope this helps!

We usually pick up Christmas ornaments for our teachers. Or pens/pencils.

JuliaPooh -- Where did you get the birthday hat?

As a teacher myself, I think the idea of notepads by a previous poster is great! Those note cubes come in real handy, sticky back note pads, pencils with Disney Characters (I bought a pack of those along with the note cube and some sticky notes last year for work).

As a teacher, I have received Mickey shaped pasta and a Mickey note holder from students who went to WDW, and I enjoyed those very much. I also have the American flag Mickey pin and love it.

I agree with Kapp as well - I have enough generic schoolhouse and apple items to last me a lifetime.

Just a word as to the birthday hat as a gift for a teacher---LICE!!! Teachers usually have a paper hat or crown for the children to wear so that it is more sanitary. Lice can happen to anyone so it is best to be cautious. The note pads and pencils are a great idea!!!! so are the cookies and candies to share with friends.

For DS's kindergarten and first grade teacher, I got the boxes of stickers and some post-it note pads. Both of those teachers use a lot of sticker, so DS thought they would be a good choice. This year, DS was very definite that his teacher did not use stickers, so I got her a Mickey note holder.

Some other things I considered were the books that teach you how to draw the Disney characters, Disney note cards and books from the countries at Epcot.

Last year I got every child in the class a small bag of mickey head pretzel. They had them the first day my DD was back to school. She had to do a trip report when away and they had the pretzels afterward. I got my teacher a tea cup and tea.
This year she is in 3rd grade and I am thinking more in line with a project they are doing in the class. They do the biom and their class will be coral reef, I am thinking about something from epcot, any idea?

sorry about that previous post, just goes to show that you should be fully awake before posting!

They had some nice books with colorful pictures in the Living Seas. Maybe they have one with pictures of the Coral Reef?

I got it at Downtown Disney at the big store...but they were everywhere. I saw it first at MK at the store on the left when you first go in....it is a huge hit in my room! I'm just praying--no lice!:teeth:
