Gift for 12-yr-old girl?

I need a gift for my d-niece, 12. I've already gotten her an itunes card, but I would like to add something else inexpensive to it.
She's pretty into fashion, etc. I was thinking earrings, as she has pierced ears, but I'm not sure what kind.
I should know this, because my own dd is also 12, but she's more athletic and practical than fashionable, doesn't have pierced ears, etc.
I have ridden the Abercrombie/ Hollister wave as long as I could, so I've got to move on from there....

I know you all have some good ideas!

Kohl's has really nice and well-priced earrings and necklace sets.
Any fashion jewelry, long necklaces are popular right now.
Or else, lip glosses, body splash sprays, nail polish, headbands are in big time right now too.
Fuzzy socks, popular tween/teen magazines like Tiger Beat, Twist, etc.
Planners, cute note pads, pens, mechanical pencils.
Purses, photo frames, water bottles, desk like accessories.

These are some of the things my DD12 likes and got for Christmas.
