Gift cards at Universal eateries

Hi all

We are headed to Orlando and US next month. I like to buy gift cards before leaving so I don't have to use my debit card much or take a lot of cash. do all the table service places in US and IOA take Universal gift cards? What about Citywalk? Can I buy Bubba Gump, Margaritaville, ect. Gift cards and use them at Citywalk locations or do they take Universal cards? What about the resorts? Any help would be appreciated.

I have never used them before and the dining seems vague. I would call to ask about the places you specifically want to use them at. This is what it says on their gift-card website.

Yeah, I thought it was vague too, so I'm hoping that someone on here has used the gift cards and can shed some light on the matter. If not I will call individual places.

The Universal Orlando Resort Gift Cards information line at 1-888-322-1565 is open from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, and 7:30 am to 9:00 pm Sunday, Eastern Time.



call them and ask which places in City Walk accept the UO gift cards.

We used the Universal GCs at various table and counter service places all around US and IOA. Didn't try to use them in Citywalk so I can't answer that.

I just called the number listed above (thanks for posting)..they told me I will take the gift card to guest services and exchange it for universal cash and then I can use the cash anywhere on property.


FYI he did ask where I purchased mine and I told him in my local grocery store.

that indicates you have the older gc.
the new ones for UO can be used directly to the hotels, parks, etc
no exchange is needed with the new ones.

good news that gc do not expire.

not sure about the age of the gc it was just purchased in April of this year and he didn't ask for any information from the card to decide it was "older" so i am not sure you are accurate.

the older version of the gc that are bought from the grocery stores, sams club, etc over the past years, had to be exchanged for UO money from guest services.
that version of the cards could not be used at the hotels.


you might have recently purchased the UO gc from somewhere other than universal online.

i shouldn't have worded it as older but version of the gc. sorry, my wording was misleading.

the way the new version gc is set up, you don't need to do any exchange at guest services.
(you can buy the gc in different denominations and it is reloadable.)

it is used like you would with a credit card.
there is no exchange of universal dollars thru guest services.

it can be used in the parks, and the hotels or anywhere belonging to UO.
with the version that is online, i will use those cards to pay my hotel bill when i check out.

i'm guessing that the older version cards will still be available to purchase until the new version hits the stores that usually carry them.

i'm sure both versions of the gift cards will be honored.
