I was wondering if anyone knows if I can purchase a gift card at the Disney Store here at home to be used in WDW. Specifically, can I purchase the card with the wrist strap they are selling for F&W Festival?

In July, I asked at the Hamilton Disney Store about purchasing gift cards from them and use down at WDW. She stated then that they gift cards were only good for use in stores in Canada.

I hope the policy has changed since then.

I wanted to buy Disney gift cards as Christmas gifts for my kids to use in Disneyland. After calling Canadian Disney Stores and emailing Disney Gift Cards website and being told A-they only had gift certificates to use in Canada and B-they don't ship out of the US I finally called Disneyland where a very helpful CM told me they most definitely could ship gift cards to me in Canada. I would suggest calling WDW and see if they can help you.

Oh, and they didn't charge me shipping to send them either.

I believe that you can only get the small gift cards on a wristband at Epcot during Food and Wine. I saw them at the specialty kiosks and at the Food and Wine merchandise booths last year, but no where else in WDW.

Thanks all, I think I will wait until we head down there and just pick them up then....seems like less of a hassle. :confused3 Appreciate the info though. :thumbsup2

The Wristband Gift Cards are also available, with a different design at the Disney Water Parks in Florida (Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park).

Those cards are generally not sold through mail order.

I just posted a similar question on my canadian board, so thanks. I wanted to let people know for her bday next month she'd love disney gift cards, but apparently that's not going to happen that really sucks ! grrrrrrrrrrr

We just went to the newly opened Disney Store here spec. to pick up Disney Gift Cards. We were so dissapointed not to be able to. I asked the manager (who happened to be by the till) why not, and she said something about exchange rates? Don't understand, because you can get Park Tickets

If we go across the border we may check a Walmart or Target to see if they have some.

We're on the DDP, but I like to use them for tips, and suvies. I know I can charge to KTTW card, but don't want it going on Visa, and it's so much easier then carrying cash.

The reason they can't sell gift cards in US dollars is that it would be an exchange of currency and Disney may not want to get involved in that. Yes it may be simple for them to do that but at the same time it may also be against currency las, both Canada and US.

I don't think you can order them online from Canada, you may be able to have them sent to a hotel but I don't think they can send them to Canada, as this would be an exchange of currency just as them selling them in the stores would be.

If you know someone in the states, get them to purchase you a blank one I was told this yesterday, then they can just mail it to you, there's a phone number on it you can just apply $ to it through your credit card. Then it doesn't matter where you are. I am going to do this I think.

Yes, they can be sent to Canada, but as I said, the international shipping rate is crazy expensive. I used to buy them online when the shipping charge was only about $10.00. It was my version of the Dining Plan, I liked having our food paid for before we travelled. I would save up about $800.00 and make the shipping charge somewhat worthwhile.

You can use this link to purchase Gift Cards from the WDW website or this link from the DL website. My opinion is that the DL Gift Cards are much more attractive :)

They are shipped FedEx.
