Gift Card/Package?

If you have a package paid for using Disney gift cards and a lower price becomes available through free dining or other promotion how does the refund work for the gift cards? Does Disney issue a new gift card with the total amount of refund on it? Do they divide the money up and put it back individually on each gift card that was used?

How long does this process take? If the new discounts were made available after the 45 day window do you think the refund would be on the cards before arriving at the resort? Is it quicker to have a refund issued back to a Visa/MasterCard debit card?

I would call DISNEY and ask. I assume they'd give you one big credit on a gift card. I was told by a CM to refrain from paying off our September trip until July just Incase free dining comes available (hint hint).

Disney refunds to the form of payment from which the funds came. IOW, if you used a credit card, then it goes back on a credit card. If you used multiple gift cards, it goes back to those multiple gift cards (I speak from experience on this). For that reason, it's always a good idea to hang onto those used GCs until you have finished your vacation.
