Gift card for food

I will be receiving a disney gift card for my trip in Dec. I am wondering:

1. can we use it for food?

2. is the gift card amount on our key to the kingdom card-or is it a separate card?

Yes, you can use it for food anywhere a Disney gift card is accepted. It may not be accepted at some restaurants that are not operated by Disney (I don't think the Swan/Dolphin restaurants will accept them).

It will be a separate card from your key to the kingdom card.
