I just called Chase and the progam runs from July 1- Sept 30. I asked which stores that I have used before actually say "grocery". The Wal-Mart that I always use codes it as grocery. Everything I buy there will qualify for the 5X rewards. Yeah!

i havent seen this offer. I did get in on the april, july and august one. Was the july-Sept 30 in an e-mail or you just called? would be nice to get in on it because i have a few b-days to buy for

I received a postcard, but I have heard from others that you can call and ask for it.

Darn! I just dragged out the flyer that I got about the 5x rewards and it does run thru Sept! Now I'll have to buy more GCs!

Not to hijack the OP's thread but mine had a cap of 100 bonus rewards dollars (about $2500 in charges in the select catogories).

Walmart counts????? Then I may actually hit my $1000 minumum!!!! Never thought to do the gift cards. That is brillant. Can you use a visa gift card to pay on Disney? But what about the start up fees? Doesn't that kind of counteract the rewards?

Call Chase to find out if your Wal-Mart codes it as grocery. She looked at the Wal-Mart I use and said they code it as grocery and not other. In my case it would count.

I called Chase again and didn't realize that you had to spend over your amount each month (mine is $750). I thought the amounts spent for the 3 months were added together and then $750 was subtracted.

She also said most everyone has a cap of $100 earned for the promotion. That is the total (not monthly).

No fair! I just bought a bunch at the grocery store on Saturday because I wanted to get the last of the 5X rewards in for August on my Disney VISA!

Do you get 5X for groceries on giftcards? If so, that's brilliant!

Chase doesn't get a breakdown of the items purchased at the grocery store. They just get the total spent. So, I hit the Gift Card Mall at the Safeway to get some GCs. Too bad they don't carry Disney GCs or else I would have gotten enough to pay off the balance on my trip.

You can also look online. I actually went to 3 Walmarts and all are "other" and two Targets as well.

Back on topic-I think I take the cake on this one. I used to do a lot of instant win sweepstakes, so some of these are prizes I won. I'm not sure why I haven't spent some of this money , except for that fact that I'm a hoarder

I have the bonus offer that runs through Sept 30th as well, so I still have time to load up on GC's at my grocery store. Woohoo!

I don't have too many GCs right now, but what I'm not good at is either using or tossing ones that end up with tiny amounts on them! I don't want to spend too much over what's on the GC, but I also hate throwing away money.

Right now I have:

Subway - $0.69 (and 59 points, which I think is enough for a free 6" sub)
Barnes & Noble - $1.17
Kohl's - $26.52
Macy's - $50
MC Gas Cash - $25

The Gas Cash is being given to MIL when she comes down next week; we don't have a car so it's no use to us. I want to go to Kohl's this weekend, so I can spend that one. Macy's I have tried to spend, but haven't found anything I like enough. Maybe I'll have Subway for lunch one day next week - use the points to get a sub and the $0.69 towards a drink.

That just leaves my $1.17 at B&N - does anyone know if the cafes at B&N take B&N GCs? I learned from a very rude cashier that they don't take Starbucks GCs, even though they have the Starbucks logo all over the place & their baristas wear the Starbucks green aprons. Pardon me for thinking Starbucks ran the cafe.

Oh no, I didn't win ALL those gift cards (although that would be nice!). Let's see, the KMart, OfficeMax, Menards, Starbucks, Blockbuster, Sears, and part of the Best Buy, Home Depot and Shell I think were from instant wins -it's been so long I'm not even sure where I got some of them, LOL!

no, the majority of them are from gifts, (DH is a teacher, so he often receives gift cards from students). The Godiva gift cards are from Costco when they were selling $50 worth of gift cards for $20, I paid $25 for the $40 in Build a Bear when they had some coupon codes that stacked. I remember getting a few gift cards from various test drives, rebates, precsription transfers and other rewards programs.

When I had the time, I would spend about an hour a day (usually while watching the news) entering online sweepstakes/contests posted on the forums at fatwallet, slickdeals, etc... The instant wins usually had more prizes, so really if you just kept at it entering once daily, the odds are sooner or later you'd win something! It does take patience and persistance, and since having my 4th child,I just haven't had a lot of either of those lately.

Used up the Barnes & Noble gift card yesterday, bought DD10 a 6.99 book minus 10% member discount, DD9 a 6.25 book -10% discount, so came out right at even.

I think today I might use the Pike gift card, I have some landscaping that I have to do this month that I budgeted for...

Used one of my Target GCs up yesterday to buy some cleaning products, DD19's Starbucks Frapps and DH's favorite cereal. All things that I needed - okay, we didn't need the Starbucks but DD thinks she does. She'll pay me back.

I'm planning on using the Target gift card for diapers for the next few months, and the Forever 21 on something to wear after I lose some of my baby weight, and the Starbucks I'm saving for when their Christmas drinks come out!!

As far as gift cards go, I have:

Old Navy $3
Edge (Game Stop) $11
Barnes and Noble $15

I love the idea of putting it toward Christmas, etc.
I do have to use them up.

But then, I have lots of coupons/cards for free things like:
Chick-Fil-A sandwiches
White Castle burgers
Krispy Kreme Donuts
Wendy's Frostys
Taco Bell Tacos/Cinnamon Crips
Dominos Pizza and bread sticks
Pizza Hut Book-It coupons for indiv. pizza

I just don't think about using them, we are always so busy running around and a lot of these places are not close by. My DS is in HS now, eating us out of house and home, so I think it may be worth some trips to use them up!
