Especailly if you staged epic battles in your backyard or basement with all of your GI Joe action figures (maybe in a battle against your Star Wars guys...)with your friends, cousins and neighbors. It almost seems like they lifted the plot from one of our many "wars" my sisters, cousins and I had. BTW, I ALWAYS picked Snake Eyes. :lovestruc

Anyhoo...so we went and saw the movie last night. My favorite type of film; loads of action, great special effects, and a smattering of cheese. SO much fun! It was a hoot to hear all the shout-outs to the cartoon of the 80's. And seriously, I have a crush on Snake Eyes AGAIN!

Here's to hoping for a long and happy series in the movie biz for this franchise.

PS...to the awful, disrespectful, rude and selfish young couple who brought the screaming infant who ruined the first 30 minutes of the film for the PACKED theatre: I feel NO remorse that my DH got you both kicked out of the theatre when he finally got the manager. You deserve a public tarring and feathering. Getting up from your seat and going to stand at the SIDE of the theatre with a shrieking junior does NOT constitute an effort on your part. SHAME ON YOU BOTH.

We are taking our boys to see it later this morning. Sounds like fun (well, not the screaming kid part)...

Dh wants to take our 4 yr old.. is it okay for him? He was also reading reviews that you'd like it if you were a 9 yr old no so much an adult?

An occassional curse word, but LOTS of violence. Maybe not cool for a 4 year old. Many stabbings, shootings, a decapitation, disfigurings...not gory, but too violent.

As foradults not liking it, that is subjective of course. I waxed super nostalgic on this one and loved every minute. I mean, come on...who doesn't think this is awesome:

We have DH's GI Joe's everywhere in the house.. that man had hundreds of them growing up it seems.. I have shoe boxes FULL of them! I guess that is why he wanted to take Aidan.. cuss words eh not a big deal he's heard them before :rolleyes1 but the other stuff.. I'll be dealing with nightmares for a week :sad2:

OMG I have been so obsessed with this since I picked up the movie tie-in book(which I NEVER do) a couple of weeks ago. I just cannot stop re-reading the book. I'm gonna have to go see the movie:rotfl:

Judging from the book the story is definitely not great, but there is 1:rotfl2: Actually the story isn't bad, just some things I'd do differently is all. I think I wanna be Scarlett. Girls who play with weapons have always been a big attraction for me:lmao:

Thanks for the review. My husband (who still has each soldier and weapon individually wrapped in plastic since childhood) and my brother are going this afternoon. I'll pass along your report.

Tell them that "knowing is half the battle!"..hahahah!!!

Seriously, we would spend HOURS picking guys, weapons, vehicles, bases and plan for an EPIC war, usually in the basement where my cousin had the GI Joe aircraft carrier (it was like 7 feet long), or out in the backyard for a more "rugged" battle. My cousins finally got tired of playing with me because I would always pick the "Joe" who came with some sort of toy animal sidekick likean eagle or a wolf. Then I would make the EAGLE the commander of my squad and very often the wolf would be found in the cockpit of my toy jet, piloting my team to a very debatable victory.

My inner geek is having a field day over the 9th Doctor as the head of CORBA!

Thanks for the head's up. I was wondering if DS8 would be able to see it. He doesn't like violence in films so that's a big "Nope".

I really want to see it. My boyfriend thinks I'm weird. Glad to hear someone liked it!!!

I really want to see it. And it's funny...normally my friends love this kind of movie but don't want to see it? :confused3 These were the guys going to see Transformers 3 times the week it came out.

But it has Dennis Quaid and Ray Park in it...what is not to love?

Yo Joe!

There were a couple of scenes that had my 9 year old son covering his face, so be careful if you have a sensitive child. Otherwise, it was a good, not great, movie. Lots of action...

There were a couple scenes that had ME covering my face (terrified of needles) but I LOVED this movie! It's getting terrible reviews, which means it ROCKS.

LOL.

I thought it was fantastic. It might be my favorite movie this year... it's a toss up between this and Star Trek. What I loved the most was that it tried to fill in background in the story, and I thought that worked amazingly well.

It took me a couple minutes to get what happened at the end, but sometimes I'm a little slow on the uptake (okay, truth be told... I had to google it. Haha.)

And without spoiling anything, I figured I'd make anyone who saw the movie laugh a little bit... you know how Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and the ABC song have the same tune? Well, I have The Bear Went Over the Mountain stuck in my head. It never occured to me that it was supposed to be He's a Jolly Good Fellow. I'm such a dork. :rotfl:

Favorite line...

(Sienna Miller's character, pointing a gun at a woman): Get out of my way!!! [pause] Nice shoes!!

I'm going to see this ASAP but for those of us that know of Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor how is the performance?

Joseph Gordon Levitt (spelling??) plays The Doctor. Christopher Eccleston was a different character. They were both very good and creepy though :) I don't know anything about JGL except that he's in that new movie with Zooey Deschanel. I seem to remember that CE was on a couple epis of Heroes.

Sienna Miller started out a little stiff (and I don't like her as a brunette), but by the end of the movie I was very happy with her performance.

Dennis Quaid wasn't featured as much as I expected and again, I liked him better by the end.

Channing Tatum ♥ Delicious

If I have the details right besides Doctor Who CE is a regualr playing baddies.

DH & I both enjoyed GI Joe. Great action packed movie!!! Better than Terminator.
