Ghosts?!!

Some very interesting (and creepy) stories here. Here's the few I have.

My dad died a few days after my 5th birthday. Not long after I was lay in my bed in the dark but mum had left the landing light on and my door ajar, my bed faced the wall by the door so the wall straight ahead of me was lit up. A man's shadow walked across the wall and vanished behind the bookcase. If it had been an actual shadow from someone outside the room, it would have moved across the bookcase and there was only me and my mum in the house that night.

A few days after my dog died when I was a kid, I was walking along the hall and saw her lay in her favourite spot in the front room. I turned to look closer and she wasn't there.

My grandma also experienced some spooky things, she died before I was born so these stories have been passed along. Gran was good friends with her neighbour who got very ill and died. One night gran woke up to see her neighbour's head floating in front of her. Her neighbour told her not to worry, she was fine now and in a better place, then she vanished. Gran also said that one day she was sat in her chair when a man walked into the room wearing a Harlequin costume. He stared at her, then she blinked and he vanished. That really scares me as I'm afriad of clowns and things like that! I know my sister doesn't believe these stories, she thinks gran was still asleep and having those waking dream things, mum's not sure.

my sister her husband and daughter were returning via car from a alte night flight into manchester airport, they were driving past the quaker school in their village and they sw a woman in a cloak, walking on the path, hey could see her face and she was very old, then my sister just happened to look down and she was flaoting!! they actually pulled the car up to double check and yep the woman was cliding along

my sisters terrified of driving past the school now

Not a believer in Ghosts, but have an experience when i was about 7 years old.
My uncle had passed away and on the staurday , my dad would always go to watch a soccer game, my uncle that passed away would always go with my dad and their other brother and a friend,. Not a lot of people at the games, and i could run around, it was nearly half time, and i saw my uncle and ran over and talked to him, asked him was he not coming up to my dad as they always watched the games together, he said he would be up in a minute, i ran and told my dad that i was talking to him and he would be up in a minute, showed him where he was, but he had disappeared. My dad had to go home as he was a bit upset, and at 7 did not really understand death, my dad talked about it till he died.
Still do not believe in ghosts.

It's interesting that you say you still don't believe in ghosts. What do you think you experienced?

great thread!

I'm always seeing things out of the corner of my eye or waking in the night to see a dark form in the bedroom - I just put these down to the shadows?

However, one evening I was working on the PC in the lounge while my DH was in the loft. I saw my a man walk through the conservatory and walk into the kitchen. I didn't think anything of it until my Dh came down from the loft and I said "what did you need from the kitchen. I would have fetched it for you rather than having to come down from the loft and go back up again" My Dh just looked at me and said "I never came down - I've been up there all the time until now!" :confused3

When my daughter was 2 1/2 I was changing her sisters nappy in the bathroom and she had come with me. While I was knealing on the floor in the bathroom my daughter pointed to the hall and said "look Mummy - there's that funny man with the beard again" :scared1:

Yikes!!!

Karen usually goes to bed about a hour before me. When DS was small I used to pop in his room and check he was OK before I went to bed. One night I went up and sat on a chair in his bedroom was an image of a old victorian lady, she just smiled and disappeared. I never felt fear, just had a feeling she was there watching him for us for some strange reason. Only happened the once, I didn't tell anyone for years until we were talking about ghosts a few years ago, I told this story, Karen had seen exactly the same thing and didn't say anything. :confused3

Only other experience, my Mum passed away 5 year ago, I was talked into seeing this guy http://www.steveholbrook.co.uk/pages/ someone my Mum and Karen had been to see but I would never go.
He picked me to say Mum was with him, told me 14 facts, 13 were spot on, some could be guess work, but some were facts only Mum and myself would know.

Maybe the guy knew the facts from when your Mom went to see him. Most of these sorts of people are really really good at cold reading too.

My OH is a Buddhist and we have some brilliant conversations about life after death, past life memories, his experiences etc.

I am a complete non-believer, probably because nothing has ever happened to me and I have never felt or seen any sort of presence.

I don't discount that people have had experiences but I don't believe in ghosts at all. I think that things trigger a vision, maybe a smell that reminds you of someone or the sub-conscious kicking in.

Interesting reading people's experiences.
