Ghost Galaxy....Am I the only one?

We love the HM overlay but GG isn't our favorite. The first time we went on it my girls were 9 and 7- it was after many trips to WDW and I really didn't learn too much about it. For some reason I was picturing little Mickey ghosts floating around - think the Halloween Party type of scary. Needless to say, we were in for a HUGE surprise (we did realize it wasn't what we thought when we saw the warnings but went on anyway). We weren't used to the speakers behind our ears and I just remember the whole thing being so loud. My girls were terrified. I think they would love it now at 14 and 12, but we haven't been back to DL during Halloweentime! We have been able to enjoy the HM overlay at Christmas, though.

+1 - Disneyland is for families, not only children - so some more mature rides are completely appropriate.

Personally I wish they'd bring back Rockin Space Mountain and Rockin Cali Screaming featuring the RHCP

We are taking our first DL trip at the end of October...WDW vets. I really have no idea what these overlays are, and am looking forward to seeing them at SM and HM. Are there others?

I wasn't a fan - didn't find it scary was just expecting more I guess

Honestly, I prefer the original SM. I do think the Ghost Galaxy overlay is a bit scary but so can the Haunted mansion, Snow White, and Tower of Terror for some.

My kids are older (10,12) but are scared of lots of stuff still :) They didn't find it terrible and didn't mind going on it a second time.

I love the original so much, we rode it like a dozen times in 5 days on my mom/daughter trip. I was sorry to have missed HSM by only a week or two when they put the GG overlay on. As for GG, I hated it. It wasn't particularly scary to me, just dumb. The music is lame, and the idea of "let's project gross stuff on the walls while riding through space" just didn't scan. We only rode it once during our five day trip last month. Bleah!

SM is DS's favourite ride but he hated GG in 2013 when he was 8. He is now 11 and he loved GG this trip. I was not a huge fan of the overlay in 2013 but really liked it this year. I really really really hope that HSM is back for our next trip in March because we have not experienced it yet but we won't be too crushed if it is the classic.

GG is OK. But I prefer HSM. I understand that's what will be brought back in early November. Glad to hear it.

It a fan either. It wasn't even the "scary ghost factor." I felt like I could see the screens easier, and for whatever reason, it felt noticeably "windier" (like going faster, but I know we weren't). And I was the front car, so I could see the red and orange lights on the track, which I didn't like.

HSM or the original.... I'd be pleased with either at this point!

I am not a fan, not sure my kids would enjoy either. They love regular SM and HSM, as do I. To me, GG is something I would expect to see at Six Flags I think. I don't associate scary with Disneyland. But I know a lot of others who really enjoy it. To each their own!

My 10 yo loves it I'm kinda meh and didn't ride it at all this time. My 12 yo doesn't like it at all. I'm looking forward to seeing the normal ride next time we're back.

I think it always depends on the kid. My son was terrified of Indy on our first trip (he was 7), but LOVED it the following year. I'm not huge fan of GG though.....and my son just thought it was dumb. I love the original, but am excited to see HSM on our trip coming up.
